Swear Filter - SERP Impact
-
My forum currently has a swear filter in place. While I personally think in most cases there's better alternatives to swearing, the general consensus is that it should be removed, and I've no problem with that in principal, however my concern is that Google may penalise the site in some way if this is done.
I've searched around a fair bit and haven't found any solid info on this so hoping someone on here may know the answer.
The question - Can repeated swear words effect rankings or prevent a website displaying in Google if safesearch is on?
Thanks as always.

Your best bet there might be to find someone you know who works in IT at a company that's really picky about what their employees see.
The problem I've run into is (I believe) a filter on a keyword in the URL for my site that won't let people at Vandenberg Air Force Base go to strikemodels.com. The site is about model warships battling each other, not about people modeling, but I'm pretty sure it's keying on the word model in the URL. Other sites from that host can be viewed from the base, and other sites with the same WP/Thesis framework can also be viewed.

One thing I've only just considered:
What about people who browse at work. Do many work filters block out sites with profanity?

Thanks William, that's great.

If the text and content within the page is extremely offensive with excessive cursing it wouldn't even rank due to no one is going to search all those curses.
But Google will not penalize you or filter it out with the safe search. The default settings on Google allows swearing and unless you have highly offensive or object-able content on the page, I don't see why Google will not show the page.
I've operated forums before and the only thing I filter are racial slurs. I wouldn't allow too much swearing on the forums as well as it creates sort of a barrier from old to new registrants.

Prices Showing for products in SERPs - organic CTR reducing
Hi, I've been looking at a clients site and Google is pulling the prices of the products (for some not all) and the pages that rank have started to have a lower organic CTR. Does anyone know how I can control what prices show in the SERPs? There is no Schema on the site to display this and the price is not in the meta title or description - it's just appearing on some pages - it's not uniform across the site? Any ideas? Cheers B

Meta descriptions for subpages in the SERPs
Hey Mozzers! Something occurred to me the other day was that, while we can write title tags and meta descriptions to be within the character count and therefore appear nice and neatly in the SERPs, when Google et al decide to pull subpages out as further site links, it seems to still pull the normal meta description but with a far lower character count. As this looks untidy and could potentially impact CTR, is there a way I can amend the preferred text for the shortened version, via Webmaster Tools, for example? Thanks in advance for your help! Nick.

Getting Google to provide a different URL in SERP
For one of my client’s sites, I have several keywords that are ranking in the top 5 positions. However, they have a high bounce rate. I believe this is because Google is delivering a different URL than the page we have optimized for the keyword. Any suggestions on ways I can get Google to present our preferred page?

What the - SERP?
I have my site I made 5 days ago with 5 pages of unique content at 500 words each, no backlinks, and non-optimized on page SEO. I just check my SERP ranking for a competition of 49-50% at I am sitting at the bottom of page 1? Will I keep this rank or what?

Does show/hide element with javascript impact SEO
Hi I am developing an ecommerce site and want to place text on all category and home page. The challenge is that 300 words of text for the pages does not fit into the design appropriately especially on the home page. If I were to use a show/hide element with javascript would this be seen as spam or a trick to the search engines. I do not think it is spam as it will be actual content for the site and the visitor can view it if they click on the show button. Would love to hear your thoughts?

Impact of website redesign when changing to wordpress
Agency designed website and not sure what platform was used. Are now working minor redesign of site but wants to do so in word press. I don't have any problem with word press but don't want to start over ranking for key phrases. I don't want to change URL from mysite.com for the home page. What is the right way to make sure this is done correctly. I could not find a resource on the site. I don't mind researching this but am not sure what to search for to find info. Thanks

Title not showing in Serps
Sorry if I've posted in the wrong section; in a nutshell my page title for 2x key terms (that I've noticed) is not showing in the Serps for my listing. Instead, the keyphrase I'm searching for shows up, and in one case my site name is appended. Can anyone tell me why this is? If I take a stab in the dark, i'd plum for Gg not thinking my page title is up to scratch for the particular search term.... but that's just a punt. Any help, greatly appreciated. Thanks.
