Google ranks better apps over articles
-
Hello,
On my quest to recover from Goolge´s updates I found out that the serps show apps and software downloads ranking better than content (articles or similar) for one of my most popular keywords.
When the ads above the fold update hit my site (I can only assume that because of the date) I lost about 50% of my traffic). This keyword dopped from the first or second position to a steady fifth or sixth page position.
Today, I was trying to research which sites outranked me and to my surprise no result in the first 15 position was an article, just apps and software downloads.
It is not that is wrong. Let´s say that we are talking about an area similar to instagram software (although it doesn´t rank in this keyword).
I´m not asking about my site. I simply want to know if the web apps (social sites) and mobile apps are taking over the content in serps.
Is it that now you can´t go for a high place in the rankings (for certain keywords) if you are not a social site or an app?
Thanks!

Nope, it is not an application name. The keyword is broad and generic, but by no means is an application name.
I used to rank in the first places with content (a blog post) and now there are no articles ranking in the first 15 places, just web apps and social sites.
Let´s say that the keyword is more a "category", very popular in the last year or so.
Thanks.

when the search is for something like "app name" then the app shows up which is what search visitors would expect . But if you cater for reviews , video review , etc you can rank for those

Does the traffic that a page get affects the page ranking?
I am asking this as I would like to know if we can include this advice in our Search strategy. For instance, can we say for the keywords that has high business priority, but we are not currently rank above the fold we can boost the traffic and therefore the organic ranking by investing on these keywords on PPC.

Why is my Google search bringing me other keywords than what I typed in?
When searching Condor Voucher on Google US where our business operates the SERP results show results on the first page that do not contain the keyword Voucher at all but instead Condor Coupons and Condor Promo Codes. Is this due to relevance of the other sites(higher search volume keyword), their domain authority, page authority, better authoritative content? Or does Google recognize that voucher is not often used in US and uses more common keywords such as Coupon and Promo Code? Therefore we cant rank for a term with such a low search volume?

Importance of news headlines for their search rankings
Hi there, we're trying to determine how to best write headlines to make our articles more findable. We're a Theater content and ticketing site (theatermania.com) and we're about to publish an article describing outdoor Shakespeare in New York City. We've discussed a few headline options (we automatically use the headline as the page title, although we aren't married to this) below. Are any of these much more findable than the other? For example, are we shooting ourselves in the foot if we lead with "Fill your Summer...." in the first option? Fill Your Summer in the City With Free Outdoor Shakespeare Summer in the City With Free Outdoor Shakespeare Free Outdoor Shakespeare This Summer in the City
