GA stopped tracking traffic, suddenly, why¿? :-/
-
2 days ago GA stopped receiving data. It only stopped for one account of all my projects. At this moment there are 5 persons navigating the site and these days there where numerous visitors as they contacted the support team thru the site.
GA says that it's receiving the code, hw, I checked it twice. The tracking code is located below the footer, in the body. It was there for few years.... I also checked if there is some js conflict, negative.
Is there something that could make the tracking to stop? Does anybody experienced similar problems¿? Should I be worried...¿? (and with SEOmoz server with issues not sure when will see new results.......)
EDIT: In Web Master Tools I see results for indexing, with yesterday date, so I assume that the site crawling is ok and must be GA issue.

Ok, profiles made, now to wait to see some results.
Do you think that the profile that I already have could be ok as raw, there are no special changes, and for the working one use one of new¿?
I'm more interested in new data than the past one, but not sure if in some moment not having the past data could make me loose some calcs....

Hi Paul, make a lot of sense. Thank you for this guidance.
I'm going to do it in few hours, will post any question if I have.
Thanks again!!

Milos, it's a strongly recommended best practice that you actually have at least 3 profiles, for your website in Google Analytics.
One profile is completely raw - no filters are ever applied to it. That way you are guaranteed to capture all raw data even if something goes wrong elsewhere.
Another profile is a test profile. This is where you add new filters, customizations etc so you can check whether they work as expected.
The third profile is your actual working profile which only contains filters, customizations etc that have already been tested and checked in the test profile before copying them across.
The profile you have now will likely need to become your working profile since it's the only place you have full current data. When you create the new profiles, they won't have any existing data in them, so good idea to get them set up as soon as possible.
Then get into the habit of never adding anything to your working profile without trying it in your test profile first, and never do any customization to your raw profile.
Make sense?
Paul

Hi Milos
Update Google Analytics Settings is in built plug in of wordpress if your site is in wordpress then you can apply this setting and republishing means if you have done any changes in your site design and it is look like new site then you have to upload that content again.
Please check your GA code in source i think you have done mistake over there. Have you copied the complete code provided by Google Analytics and pasted it into the header tag ? i think after this you can get your solution.

Hi Sanket
- I have checked javascript code and it's GA's default for root domain and subdomains.
- What do you mean by republishing the site?
- I`m not able to find the option to Update Settings...
BUT, looking for options you wrote, I found that I applied one filter in the profile.... For one subdomain... And, it's very possible that was not filtering no data.....
I think that you can add it to your list, special for newbies Hw, not sure yet if really was that, but dates are same....
Thanks!

Hi
Have you republished of your site? you must republish your site in order for any changes you have made to take effect In this issue and you can also "Update Google Analytics Settings". Is your JavaScript code doesn't contain any error? Apply these all points for getting tracking back to Google analytics.

Search traffic hit after switching magazine to subdomain
Hi there, I'm fairly new at all of this and would appreciate any help with understanding why our website has taken a hit in traffic. We curate an online magazine, which was previously accessible through: forensicoutreach.com. It was receiving about 2,000+ unique visitors per day up until a week ago, when we changed a few things. However, the magazine doesn't reflect what our business does, so we created a product-focused web presence on forensicoutreach.com, and moved the magazine (which everyone loved) to library.forensicoutreach.com (DA 37, PA 1). We thought separating the properties was a good idea, but now I'm not so sure. Our traffic on library.forensicoutreach.com is 1,500 (so 500 less than usual!) and our main property has about 56 unique visits a day. It's pretty substantial. A few questions: 1. If we move the library to forensicoutreach.com/library, will that make any difference? 2. Where did we go wrong here and how can we fix it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bot Traffic Higher Than Unfiltered?
We filtered bot traffic from one of our Google Analytics accounts and traffic is higher than with the unfiltered view. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this?

Google Webmaster Tools During GA Transition?
I'm working with a client that is launching a new website. Google Webmaster Tools can just be disconnected, then reconnected to the new Google Analytics property, correct? Without any data loss in Webmaster Tools? Thanks! Becky

In both the new GA and former version, how are RSS feeds handled by Google Analytics. If not, is there an easy means by which to account for this traffic, in order to have a better picture of traffic. Thanks. Alan

New GA interface - Number of conversion by source
Hi Guys, Hope this is an easy one for a GA ninja. In the new GA interface, how can I view the number of conversions by source, instead of the default conversion rate by source. For example, if I want to view the number of conversion from Adwords. I'm looking at Goals > Source / Medium > Google CPC and looking at Goal Set 1. However all data is expressed in percentages. Thanks in advance!

Switching Blog to domain/blog... worth it?
So we have a great business. Let's say: Service.com. And years ago we launched a great blog. Let's call it ServiceDiscussion.com. So, both are PR5 sites. The BUSINESS gets about 50k page views a month. But the BLOG is getting about 100k page views a month. So, my question is... is it time to fold the blog into the business domain? Let's say we did a 301 redirect and turned it into Service.com/blog. We'd be folding all this extra traffic into the business domain. Would the google juice be worth doing this?
