What is the best strategy for a company in various countries?
-
Hello I have to make yt SEO marketing strategy for a company that provides services in Spain, Colombia and Mexico
I'm looking at two options:-
Buy different domains (TLD): This option seems feasible but very expensive and manage each domain position it would have to have different content in each (plus you would not know that because it is put exactly the same domain)
-
Place each service and country folders eg
www.dominio.com / mexico / training-financiero.html
www.dominio.com / espana / training-financiero.html
I have understood that option 1 is no longer necessary since you can use html tags within the code to tell Google that you try to target content to customers from a different country.
In principle we would use the same content would change only a few words and of course the currency to suit the local currency of each country. However I believe that customers could rely more on a domain if their country. Plus I'm afraid I google indexed as duplicate content is another matter What country would main that could confuse the visitor?

First of all I really suggest you read this post by Aleyda Solis in the SEERInteractive Blog, which practically answers to all your doubts in a very extensive way.
Second, the subfolder option seems the best one for your case, at least from what I understood about your businesses' needs. In fact, business's objective in middle/long term should determine what option for International SEO you should choose, and not simply the mere SEO aspect.
So, if you choose to the subfolder option, you must:
-
create the subfolders (obvious)
-
geotarget them in Google Webmaster Tools
-
implement the use of rel="alternate" hreflang markup, especially because you are using the same content in different subfolders, hence, if you want to be really sure that Google shows the correct URLs for the given country, better to use the hreflang.
-
even if you do 2) and 3) I strongly suggest you to localize the content of your site. The Spanish spoken in Mexico, Argentina and Spain is quite different, as it is the English spoken in UK and USA. The more the language used is fitting the culture of the countries you are targeting, the better not only in SEO terms, but also in the conversion potentialities ones.
Finally, related to buying also the Country Level Domain versions of your main domain, actually buying them and redirecting 301 to the respective subfolders doesn't have really any SEO effect, but it may be an useful way to "reserve" those domains for a potential future use.

Hey, things are a little clearer. I'm planning to do the following
- Separate the website into folders for each country and service
www.dominio.com/argentina/seo.html
Place the respective Geolocation labels in the source code
-
Sign into Google Webmaster Tools and set the hearing for each subfolder
-
Buy the TLD domains for each country
Not to do with the TLD domains. What do you recommend me?
I was thinking of putting a landing page with a contact form where it counts in summary we do (original content of course) and that each service link to the folder. Com domain on the country
Or just that when they enter the TLD domain redirect (Redirect 301) to the subfolder of the respective country in the domain. Com
- Separate the website into folders for each country and service

First of all thanks for your quick response. Actually I would not know how to approach the service differently for two countries with the same language. Suppose you offer SEO service to Argentina and one for Colombia (In both countries the language is Spanish) you could say differently in service to Colombia regarding SEO SEO service to Argentina?

Sitemap.xml strategy for site with thousands of pages
I have a client that has a HUGE website with thousands of product pages. We don't currently have a sitemap.xml because it would take so much power to map the sitemap. I have thought about creating a sitemap for the key pages on the website - but didn't want to hurt the SEO on the thousands of product pages. If you have a sitemap.xml that only has some of the pages on your site - will it negatively impact the other pages, that Google has indexed - but are not listed on the sitemap.xml.

Best way to handle Breadcrumbs for Blog Posts in multiple categories?
The site in question uses Wordpress. They have a Resources section that is broken into two categories (A or B). Underneath each of these categories is 5 or 6 subcategories. The structure looks like this: /p/main-category-a/subcategory/blog-post-name /p/main-category-b/subcategory/blog-post-name All posts have a main category, but other posts often have multiple subcategories while some posts also fall into both main categories. What would be the easiest or most effective way to auto-populate the breadcrumb based on from where the person reached the blog post? So for example, a way to set Home -> Main Category -> Subcategory 1 as the breadcrumb if they reach it from the Subcategory 1 landing page. Or is this not possible and we should just set the breadcrumb manually based on where we feel it best lives? Thanks.

Best way to link to multiple location pages
I am a Magician and have multiple location pages for each county I cover. I currently have them linked off the menu under locations/ <county>and also in the footer</county> However I have heard that a link from the page is much stronger, so I am experimenting with removing the Menu & Footer link and just linking to these pages from within the content. It's not really a navigation item and most people come in through search to the right page. Am I diluting the link by having it in the Menu/Page and Footer? I read a long time ago that Google only considers the first link to a page and ignores the rest - is that the case? Thanks Roger https://www.rogerlapin.co.uk/

Where and how much; Schema best practices.
Couple of schema questions: Should I 'only' mark up the contact page, as this has the most information? What about the header and footer, should I tag everything there also? If I do mark up the header, footer, and contact page, I end up with 3 "LocalBusiness" entries in Google testing tool, is that bad?

When rankings dip what's the best diagnostic procedure?
Bonjourno from 10 degrees C lighly raining Wetherby UK 🙂 Every so often SEO feels like a game of snakes & ladders. One minute your rankings go up and then then within the click of a mouse they drop back down. Like a Greek play you begin to feel our mortal lives as SEO pundits is controlled by the Google Gods. A case in point is illustrated here in this graph:

Go to webmaster tools and check for crawl errors 2. See if a Google algo change has changed the rules of engagment 3. Check another site administrator hasnt tinkered with the original layout But i wonder what process do other SEO practitioners follow to explain to a disgruntled client - "Why have my rankings that i pay you to look after nose dived?" Any insights welcome:-)0 -

How to handle a future company expansion?
One of my clients is looking to start a new company and they are thinking of SEO right from the get go. While this is great for me there are a few issues that I have never really encountered before. For instance, my client knows that she will be expanding into a different city in the future but wants to generate local traffic to start with. She will initially start with CITY-A before moving to CITY-B one year later. Which of the following would be a better solution: 1) Have CITY-A targeted on the root domain for one year, build links and grow the site for CITY-A then create two sub domains in one year targeting CITY-A and CITY-B (ie. CITY-A.companyname.com and CITY-B.companyname.com), then make the root domain a generic company site with no mention of location (or mentions of both locations). . . 2) Create the two sub domains now and begin with CITY-A.companyname.com and have the root domain be a general overview of the company and our services without being location specific. 3) Create the root domain (companyname.com) and have that target CITY-A and keep it targeting the initial city, then create a sub-domain in a year to target CITY-B I keep going between these solutions and seem to have hit a mental block. What are your thoughts? Any other ideas are more that welcome! Thanks, Net66

I am curious to find out what is the blogging platform of choice for enterprize level companies (employees more than 500, revenue more tan 150M). What would be the best solution from SEO point of view? I have used Wordpress in the past for small companies and feel that is the best. We are currently using Telligent. Is anybody using it?
