Starting a Blog. New Domain vs integrated in a shop domain?
-
Hi everybody,
We are going to start a blog for posting about topics related to our online shop and its products.
Our question is... what is better in terms of SEO.... Creating it in a new domain and linking to our online store when neccessary, or integrating it in our actual online shop and take advantage of our visitors?
Thank you very much in advance!
Best Regards

Thank you very much.
Yes, the first we have on mind is the user experience.
So I think the best is integrate it within our actual domain an design. That was our first option, but we didn´t know if that could be better or worse in SEO terms...
Thanks again to both!
Best Regards!

Instead of the question being "what is better in terms of SEO?" the first question should really be "what it better for the users/readers/potential customers?", IMO.
If the blog is in fact going to be all about your online shop and its products, then it definitely seems the readers would find it makes much more sense for it to be integrated within the online shop site. That means it can be easily and sensibly integrated into the site's navigation (to better move readers to conversion pages when appropriate), share the rest of the site's look & feel to engender trust and identification, maintain a unified domain name so visitors can clearly understand how they're related, etc.
Fortunately, in addition, that arrangement also happens to be much better for SEO, as the two aspects of the site can work together to help each other's authority and ranking signals.
Risking a confusing user experience in the name of "better" SEO is pretty well always going to cause problems, especially as search engines algorithms continue to evolve to devalue such situations.

My retail site has a blog on the same domain.
I write how to use products, how to select them, how to maintain them. Those pages link to the relevant product pages and the product pages link to relevant blog pages.
The blog pulls traffic from the SERPs and some of that traffic goes to the product page and buys something.
I value the blog posts based upon the number of conversions that they produce. When I see something that works I make similar posts.

New website content before or after new webdesign launch?
Hi, We are planning a full website redesign and rewriting the content of the key pages. The new contents will be ready sooner than the new website, what is the better solution? 1. Replace the content of the old site with the new (better) contents

URL Structure for Blog
Hi guys, Hope you are all doing well today. I have a questions with regards to our blog URL structure. The URL for the blog is /blog - however when you click on a blog post the "/blog" disappears completely and is replaced by the title of the post. So it is ".com/title-of-post" for example. Would it be better to keep the blog subdomain in the URL so it is ".com/blog/title-of-article" Any insight would be appreciated. My thoughts are that surely the second option above is ideal? Thanks Tom

Rewrite of blog posts
I have to admit. Sometimes, when i write a blog post, I'm a bit lazy. I don't concentrate on the on page optimization portion of the blog post. I used to. But, as of late, I haven't. I was wondering if it was worth it to tweak my blog posts just a bit with a few keywords to improve my on page optimization. Or, do you think that it is too late and not worth the trouble.

Guest Blogging Question
Hi Everyone, Bit of a serious question here for me, Is it worth doing a guest post on a blog more then 2 times? As an example one blog I guest post on has a homepage PR6 which I have posted 2 times, now they have requested another guest post but im thinking would it just be better to guest post on a different blog? So my question in simple terms is: 5 guest posts on two PR6 websites or 10 guest posts on ten different blogs with PR3

Promoting external blogs on our own
From time to time we're promoting blog posts written by our employees on their external blogs (separate domains) to our official company blog. This happens when the content is valuable for our visitors and it's worth to be shared. The post is copied in its entirety and we add the sentence This post was originally published on <external blog="" post="" link="">at the top. Will this be considered duplicate content? Should we add anything else to the republished blog post? Thanks!</external>

What is the best way to bring a blog into my SEO strategy
We have a blog set up with Blogger and generate some great content on it. What is the best way to optimise the blog from an SEO standpoint? In particular the domain name, it is currently .blogspot.com address, is there a better way to work with that? Obviously the blog is branded with our company logo and name etc but is about the book industry. I'm basically concerned about linking people to our blog and not the website and so not getting much benefit?
