Rank dropped for website
-
We have seen rankings drop considerably for www.think-ins.co.uk in the last 48 hours, I know Penguin 2.0 has been released but anyone got any ideas on what specifically we might have been penalised for?
Thanks

Hi,
The drop earlier in the year is linked to the fact that we had a complete rebuild and redesign of the website which led to some of our rankings dropping, we were gradually recovering most of our ranking positions but now have seen them drop off severely.
I have just found that a site we have an advert on (www.jr-leasing.co.uk) has put the advert as a site wide link and this is sending over 17,000 links to our home page, could this be playing a part?
Thanks

Hi!
If you were hit by Penguin, you were hit for external links. You must analyze all your backlinks, especially those that have the exact keyword you lost your position on as an anchor text. Make a list of all the external link that come from spammy looking websites, and try to remove them (you can either contact each webmaster or you can use the disavow tool in GWT).
You should check your Google Analytics report and compare organic traffic from today with organic traffic from 21 Mai. See what keywords were bringing most of your traffic and check if you still have the same position you had in Google before the update.
If you don't know what rankings you had before the update, you can use the search engine optimization report from Google Analytics or the queries report from Google Webmaster tool, like this: compare the average position you have today and the average position you had before the update. Before doing that, make sure you filter out all the data for images and mobile (you want your average position to include only web results).
If you are still unsure, there is one more check you can do: search your keyword on bing. If you have the same position on bing - or relatively similar to the position you had in Google - and you are not even in top 10 in Google, then it means you were penalized. For example you still rank with "motor trade insurance" in Bing.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi,
It look like you have an older bigger problem with tjis domain -> http://screencast.com/t/Evo7R77NXN2
As you have a big drop early this year. For the last 48h there is no visibility update yet though and you might be down again.
Cheers.

Some have dropped a few places - part time traders insurance had been 1st for the last couple of years but is now 4th, appreciate this isnt a massive drop but can already see the difference in traffic.
The more alarming change is motor trade insurance was around 38th (recovering after a complete web redesign and build in Feb) but now isnt in the top 200 other than a link to a news article which is still outside top 100.

How long does Google indexes the website after algorithm update?
I've noticed that the page ranks for some queries were improved unexpectedly, without any actions from my side. Is it possible that this improvement is connected with with Google algorithm update Sep, 4-5?

Our partners are using our website content for their websites. Do such websites hurt us due to duplicate content?
Hi all, Many of our partners across the globe are using the same content from our website and hosting on their websites including header tags, text, etc. So I wonder will these websites are hurting our website due to this duplicate content. Do we need to ask our partners to stop using our content? Any suggestions? What if some unofficial partners deny to remove the content? best way to handle? Thanks

Anyone seeing big drops in Bing this month?
Seems like our Google rankings are improving on most sites, but BING took a big hit this month for many of the sites we working on. I have never seen them drop like this before. Anyone else seeing the same thing? I am wondering if it is because we are building a lot of brand links vs. keyword links and Bing still wants to see the keyword links. What have you seen?

Does this mean my pages are ranking better?
In GWT impressions are down 17%, clicks are up 57%. Is it safe to assume that pages are ranking better for my site? We have earned a couple great links in the past month.. 5lDZEUJ

Ranking drop Feb 2013?
I'm trying to get to the bottom of why Directholidays.co.uk suffered a drop in rankings for the term "cheap holidays" in February 2013. Im looking at this recently and as an outsider so I haven't got access to Webmaster tools and I haven't been tracking rankings/link profiling. They moved from 2nd to 10th temporarily and then recovered at 7th the new 10th! I've looked at keywords improved/declined on, keywords lost/gained, traffic, traffic price but im failing to see exactly what I can use to show whether Panda #24 (officially 22nd of January) had a significant effect. Can anyone shed any light on this? It would be massively appreciated!

Google Rankings Jumping Around
Hi, Since January, the Google rankings for one of our sites has been jumping around. Sometimes it's on page 1, then it disappears and comes back around 1 month later. It's strange because it's only a small section of the site that it's happening to. Every other section of the site is doing really well. Just wondered if anyone else is having this problem, or has had it and can suggest any fixes. There are no technical issues, no changes have been made to the site, all I can think is it's Google messing around with their algorithm? Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Karen

Can visitors duration time affect Google Rankings?
Does the time a person stays on a website affect Search Rankings? If so, could the lower time from Adwords Visitors be effecting organic rankings? And the same for bounce rate. If Non-Paid Search Traffic Avg. Visit Duration time is 3:55 and Paid Search Traffic Avg. Visit Duration is 1:59 Could the low duration time be affecting our website rankings?

Is there a way to know what rank my site is listed on google ?
My current client web page was listed at the 4th page 1 month ago. Im trying real hard to make him understand that the traffic from beiing on the first page is important and that he need to give me additionnal ressource to make it happen ( i don't prog at all). So i had the idea of checking every page to see whats is current rank. but instead of looking from page 1 to page X, i was wondering if there was something somewhere that could give me my rank right away. It woud help saving time. Thx.
