Wordpress Domain Options
-
We'd like to add more content to our ecommerce site so are considering adding a wordpress blog. Which domain option is the best for SEO?
-
Generally domain.com/blog is the best option. Using that structure will help you build the value of domain.com.
-
Cutts will break it down for you.
I always opt for subfolder for the time sensitivity in setup, unless, for usability there needs to be clear separation from the main site and the purpose of the additional site.

Agree with Takeshi

domain.com/blog is probably the best option, since Google often treats subdomains (blog.domain.com) as separate sites. By having your blog in a subdirectory, any link value it accrues will benefit your main site as well.
-
Regardless of whether you choose blog.domain.com or domain.com/blog you should definitely keep your blog on your personal domain. This is where you will have the best opportunity to create new and engaging content on a regular basis.
Ideally, your blog content will be popular on occasion and other people in similar industries will tweet and/or share your link in one way or another. This will gain you backlinks and bring traffic to your domain. Better they point to and land on your domain than wordpress.com.

Marcy,
I would be Leary of the answer if anyone chose one domain over the other. Perhaps they have something to gain by doing so. I believe the best answer to be "Do your homework". You might start by using SeoMoz to find information about each of the domains you chose.
First go to http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ and check out each of the options you chose. Which has the highest domaine authority? Where are these competing domains going to place your blog? If it is on a "No Follow" page then what good is the blog doing you? Or if your blog is located on a high Domain authority website say 80, but your blog ends up on a page authority of 3 verses on a Domain authority website of 65 but a page authority of 45
Each of the parameters listed on SeoMoz have a high degree of importance to your SE results. Check out each of your blog hosting choices to help you estimate how highly ranked your blog might be.

Traffic to blog home page is going down after changing my WordPress Theme
I recently changed my wordpress theme from a standard free theme to a newer theme. The home page I switched up a bit adding more calls to action to some of our top posts and leading people to popular categories and so on. This greatly improved the usability of our site as it allowed us to highlight new posts. The previous free template simply listed 10 of our most recent posts on a page with small snippets and then you had to move to the next page to keep reading. Since switching my theme the blog traffic has stayed relatively level. That being said, the specific posts traffic is going up a lot whereas the organic traffic to the blog homepage is now nearly depleted. Is this a common thing to happen or is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

Wordpress hacked. Entire content wiped out
Someone hacked my Wordpress site, wiped out all my content and changed my login status to a subscriber. Years of hard work gone, I can't log in to fix anything. Is there anything I can do. Is there a way to prevent this from happening ever again. Is there a way to catch these people?

Images for WordPress
I'd be grateful for any advice regarding sourcing, adding & attributing images/photos for my WordPress blog. Budget is tight so have to rule out paid stock libraries, but I heard that Flickr images can be used under Creative Commons providing they are correctly attributed. eg. http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/business-of-it/2011/04/07/mps-criticise-bbc-siemens-38m-contract-failure-40092428/ eg 2. http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/networking/2011/10/05/bt-lines-up-300mbps-broadband-launch-40094109/ Example 1 does not seem to link back but example 2 does. Are there any rules on this? I have looked at some plugins: Insights, iFlickr, WP Flickr Manager, Photo Dropper. Looking to save time by streamlining the process of adding images, resizing and attributing. Many thanks.

Meta Title and Description Placement in Wordpress
I noticed in wordpress code that the <title>and <description> are not at the top of the code and rather located a ways down the code and not displayed how previous sites used to be.</p> <p>Does this still matter for SEO.</p> <p>I thought it should have been,</p> <div id="syn_row5" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">title</span>></span><span class="HTML_TAG"></<span class="HTML_ELM">title</span>></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_ROW"> <div id="syn_row6" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">meta</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">name</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">"Description"</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">content</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">""</span> /></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"> <div id="syn_row6" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">meta</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">name</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">"Keywords"</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">content</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">""</span> /> (if still needed ?)</span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"> </span></span></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG">Is there a way to do this in Wordpress? Using own domain for Google blog
Is it worth the effort using your own domain for a Google blog? After adding my own domain to a blog I see a boost in ranking, maybe the url has more value without the blogspot extension, or that Google might treat the (max.10) pages you produce under your own domain as "independent" thus giving you the chance of building your own domain trust...?
