Link Relevance vs Link Authority ?
-
Hi guys,
I have a quick question regarding some low quality links my site is getting. From the information in Open Site Explorer, the website I
m talking about has a page authority of 16 while the domain authority is 11\. These are very low quality scores in my oppinion and I
m thinking of removing them with Google Disavow Tool. The thing is that, although the domain is low quality, the links have relevance as they're in the same business sector as us. More exactly, the name of the domain is taxisavona and the company I work for is also a taxi company. So, now I`m thinking, should I disavow the link because of it's low scores or should I leave it because it is relevant to our business ?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Tiberiu Iavorenciuc

Hi Tiberiu,
As far as I can tell, a web site that has a low page / domain authority doesn't necessarily have to be an 'untrusted' web site. If a web site has great content, but the domain name has only recently been registered and it doesn't have a lot of links pointing to it yet, its authority on page and domain levels will be (relatively) low.
I'd review each of these sites individually and see which ones could (potentially) harm your own site's authority. You could do so by judging the way content is being presented (is it in between a lot of ads or being presented in a clean, well-structured manner), if there is interaction with the target audience of the web site, checking for 'underwater' optimized pages, etc.
So your situation might not be so bad after all. Relevant and trusted links can come from all sorts of web sites - no matter big or small.

When you're talking about a link of such low quality, relevance is going to be a moot point--there's just little to no value to be gained from the link. Sometimes, low quality pages/sites grow into higher quality site/pages and such links build value. Before deciding to disavow them look over the site and get a feel for what it's potential may be--if they're linking out indiscriminately and their back link profile is a mess a link from the site is likely to never be of value.

Hey Tiberiu -
If it's a few links, I doubt that this will negatively impact your site. I would keep them there. From what I'm gathering, the Disavow tool should not be used lightly. Check out this article from Search Engine Land.
I would leave them there unless Google Webmaster specifically said that Google noticed that you're engaging in questionable link behavior. Otherwise, they'll just assume random people are linking to you.

We're looking at providing SEO for a website that has the majority of its incoming links from websites created solely to provide links. Few have bad spam rankings. How worried should I be about those links?
The majority of incoming links to a prospect's website are from website pages apparently created solely to provide links to the website. Few have high spam scores. The sites linking to the main site have versions of blogs with linked text. They seem to be providing positive SEO value now, but I'm concerned they might get noticed and hurt the main site in the future.

I am looking for a software to keep track of the back links or link building
Hi Guys, I am very new hear. I just joined. I have a few websites that I need to manage. I am looking for a software that will allow me to manually add the links that I have been able to acquire. It would also be a bonus if it could search for the links to my site and to see if its still active. Because I have a freelancer working a few hours a week on link building and I need to keep track of the links. I am looking for something simple and good. Any suggestions? By the way, I used Raven Tools many years ago, and it had this feature. But since joining Moz, I don't want to be paying for 2 subscriptions. And I don't know if Raven still has this feature. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Ryan

Link from a directory
Hi, im submitting a clients website to some directories. They are a dental practice and I'm adding them to this website http://goo.gl/Tvyabd Once i added the business to its directory it asked me to add a link (in so many words) back to its website from my clients website. Is this ok to do or is it seen as spam? Im confused about this as sometimes directories are free and sometimes they ask for a fee for it to be fast tracked to put it on the website. I always check the Domain authority of the websites and make sure they are relevant to the industry that I'm working in but again not sure if this would be seen as "paying" for links. Thanks Ade

Domain Authority
I am very new to SEO. I've built a dog grooming website for a business that my wife and I have established. www.petsalonbarkavenue.com When I try and check the metrics out, it keeps showing I have a 1 on page authority, and a 1 on domain authority. When I check a competitors site, they have certain anchor text that Moz has identified. I am pretty certain that our business is listed on the same directory as this competitor, yet Moz doesn't identify my site's anchor text. Am I doing something wrong? or is my site so new, that Moz hasn't been able to find it? Craig

Links from same server or not?
Hello, I make websites so every website I make has a backlink to my website. Currently all my websites are hosted on server A, but my OWN website is hosted on server B. I plan to move my website to server A too. This will indicate that all the backlinks I have currently are from a difference server, now all these links will come from the SAME server. Will this have any results on my positions? Is this something that you have to take into account? Jeroen

Internal linking anchor text with automated ASP.NET link building
Hi Everyone I really need some help here, the problem I have must be one that many have. I have a simple e-commerce style website so 1 product page can in fact get 40-50 internal links to it. These links come from a mixture of: 1. The parent category pages that the product sits on (Rugged PDA) and in turn the 10 filter pages of this category page (Rugged PDA, ordered by battery size). 2. Alternative product list on other product pages, So many products link to each other as alternatives. From Google analytics we can see that visitors like to browse product to product seeing 5 alternatives on each page with titles like "Smaller", "more rugged" etc. 3. Manufactuer pages, so we have a link to each product from each manufacturer home page where we talk lots about each manufacture we resell. We also have links from images used in the website. So its a nice usable website but we're finding that Google is still telling us in Webmaster tools that it thinks some links are dubious and we're trying to find out why. We only now have 190 external links to the website, most are internal and from the website or our blog on a subdomain. The problem we think is that we generate the category and products pages all dynamically so the anchor text is looking the same. Will this potentially create issues for us? Dave

Is this link Followed?
Hi All, Noticed this link in opensiteexplorer. Its not marked as no-follow, but not sure if this link would pass any value? http://goafrica.about.com/od/southafrica/a/selfdrivesa.htm Click on any external link, it takes you to a "preview" page from within the main website. Is this a false positive? As in it shows as a follow link, but when you actually click it, it doesnt redirect to the website. Any thoughts on this? Greg

Soliciting articles and allowing author links?
We are trying to build up article content on our website, and are looking at soliciting fresh articles from authors on various subjects, and in turn give them an author link back to their website or blog in exchange for writing the article. Our website has massive traffic so this would be a good thing for the author. My question is this: If I put a couple of anchor text links into the article, having them pointed at various pages on my site, and then allow the author to link back to his site, will I lose the link love in the anchor text? Or does it depend on the number of anchor links I have? Like 3 to 1 type ratio.
