Meta Title for Category Pages
-
I am trying to improve the SEO for a few key category pages on my blog. I have two ranking really well so I want to boost them and bring up some others.
Can I put two keywords in the meta title?
Example: Maternity Deals | Pregnancy Deals
Or should I just stick with one?
Thanks!

Hi dealblogger,
In the situation that you describe, what I would do then is separate out these items and make them two categories, one for maternity deals and one for pregnancy deals. Put all the maternity clothes and gifts under the first category and all the pregnancy pillows and prenatal items under the second category. This will enable you to land people searching for the right items under the right category. It will also enable you to focus traffic to the right part of your site based upon intent.
Does that help answer your question? If not, let me know and I can try to rally some additional help. Cheers!

Thanks. This is the category page for all maternity and pregnancy related deals. I have sub-categories for maternity clothes and more specific items. This page has everything - clothes, pregnancy pillows, prenatal vitamins, stretch mark creme and so on and so forth.

As with most things "SEO" I'd say it depends. In your specific example, the word "maternity" has completely different search intent (in my opinion) than the word "pregnancy." What kind of deals are they? If the deals are for clothing, then "Maternity Clothing Deals" might be a good title. At least here in the states, people say "maternity clothing" but probably wouldn't say "pregnancy clothing." If the deals were vitamins and supplements, then the term would probably be "pregnancy vitamins" or "pregnancy vitamins & supplements" not "maternity vitamins." In other countries, it might be different. On the other hand, in the case of champagne glasses, I could definitely see a title like "Champagne Glasses | Champagne Flutes"...because a fair number of people might use either term, when they are looking for the same things.
I would recommend doing some keyword research based on specifically what kinds of deals the page is about. Are the deals for clothing? Then maybe "Maternity Clothing Deals" would most likely be the best title. Your keyword research will most likely help you match the right words with the intent of your potential visitors.
Hope that helps!

Title Tags & Meta descriptions do not update
Hi, I have a question about the title tags and meta descriptions of my domain b-buildingbusiness.com. I've updated them about 5 days ago but the new versions don't show in the search engines. However it does show when you check with the facebook developers tool https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/?q=http%3A%2F%2Fb-buildingbusiness.com%2F . Does anyone have an idea why they're not updated in the search engines and how I can resolve this? Best, Rik

Duplicate meta and title in Google Webmaster Tools not updated?
Our canonical tags were removed by mistake for some time and our duplicate meta and title warnings in Google webmaster tools html improvements went up. We fixed the issue a week ago. I made sure the sitemap is picking up the canonical URL. Still the number went up after we fixed it (from around 5000 to around 7000 now) but when I click on details, it shows around 2000 in detail page. How long does it take for Google to update this? RB

Duplicated Products on Homepage and category pages
I have some of my best sellers located on the homepage of my websites. These same products may also appear on the category page as well. On the home page and the category page, the product title, short description, thumbnail, etc. are exact duplicates and I am afraid this is hurting me. I would appreciate any advice you may have on how to deal with this issue. These are some of my best sellers and most often, the homepage will outrank the category page for the product. Thanks in advance, lordhenry

Moving Top rank Page urls off my Home page and nesting them on one page? Good idea?
I am basically trying to cut down the amount of links on my home page to make it less eye boggling and move stuff around. So i have of my Urls on my home page that lead to pages that rank very well within google. My questions is can i remove those urls to a separate page to group them together and then showcase that one link to that page on my home page. Is that a good idea or i am going to loose my link juice and position in search? The physical urls on those pages wont change at all.

Faq page
We are redoing our faq page and we were trying to decide on the best format. 1. Create each question on a separate page 2. Create one page with all the question and have the questions expand 3. Create different faq category pages (like 4) and divide the questions between them From my perspective #1 seems the best ---. you can create hyper relevant content for the user and optimize each question really well Any experience with this?

SEO Moz crawl has 3 missing page title errors when they are clearly there.
My SEO Moz crawl today has highlighted for errors where page titles are empty missing. For example: http://www.musicliveuk.com/live-acts/hire-wedding-entertainment/wedding-entertainment-kent This page clearly has a title as do the other 3. Is it a bug in the system or am I missing something?
