What are the strongest and most-Google friendly directories to place my business on for the sake of large SEO gains? for the sake of Exposure to customers? What is the best way to invest for ROI nowadays? Thanks.
-
I do basic SEO stuff as well as marketing for quite a few clients. But, I am wondering which directories or exposure based groups are worth the money? Is a business.com directory listing for $300 a solid investment to get a strong link? Is yext a good move? How about wildfire? I could use some really high DA links to stack on top of the link profiles I have already built through content, etc.? Please advise me.
PS Confession: I was once a pre-panda Fiverr link junkie. But I am in recovery. I have an 18 month chip and am currently making amends.

Look for high quality directories specific to your clients industry.

Wildfire is outrageously expensive..
That aside, the best 2 directories for the money are the good oldies: the yahoo directory (dir.yahoo.com) and botw.org. These are a great way to start as you ramp up other link building/content creation strategies. This is strictly from experience, as I know that many would disagree regarding the value of the yahoo directory.

Oh, IMO..
The best ROI we are seeing is from content. Good guides and other resources that appeal to potential customers.
A recent guide we completed on modern marketing for the SMB was released just over a week ago. It has brought in 5 customers and a couple hundred clicks. If you count time, we had about $600 in the guide and our average customer lifetime value is $16,533. Just remember when making your content that sales brochure is not the same thing as a guide. Selling your guide is fine but I use the rule of sell on the first and last page only... brand throughout.

The big issue I have with Yext is that they hold their work hostage and make you pay a yearly ransom to keep it. If you don't pay the ransom then they undo all of their work. I could see offering additional services as a yearly but they way they do it is a misguided principle in my book and they have competition who does not take such an approach.
I use UBL. It costs less than Yext to start. Has all of the benefits + a profile video is produced + a Facebook Fan Page (if needed) + a Twitter Account Setup + Mobile Web Card + Complete Verified Listings on 12 or sites + Social Profile Builds & more. If you want to go another year it is $79 which is much less and gives you continued access to adjust your data. If you do not, they do not destroy everything you paid them to do in response. UBL.org
If I was going to spend $300 for a listing it would be the Yahoo directory but I do not spend $300 for directory listings very often. I have yet to see a paid directory show consistent ROI unless it was an industry site without overloaded competition to user ratio.

Running Google Ad Grants? How Much Is Your Monthly Spend?
Hi all - here's a question for everyone running Google Ads through the Ad Grant. How much of the $10,000 available to your account per month do you actually end up spending? I'm trying to see if I am in line with others in the industry. Would you mind sharing with me the type of nonprofit and the amount you're able to spend of the grant per month, on average? Thank you!

I've 'lost' my Google Referral Traffic
We recently re-launched our website on a new platform, PrestaShop. Up until that launch, our website, based on the DNN platform, received several thousand clicks per month from what Google Analytics classified as 'Google/referral', and several thousand more clicks collectively from international Google/referrals, i.e. Canada, Germany, UK and France. When the re-launched site went live, these clicks all went to zero on Google Analytics. My question is: Did we actually lose this Referral traffic through an improper setting on our new platform, or is this Referral simply being re-categorized in some other Source category like Organic Search?

Can Google shopping listings affect SEO rankings?
Hello everyone. Here is my question: Until 4 weeks ago we used to have just around 2,000 product/pages on Google shopping of our product pages, then we added over 40,000 more items/pages to it, and our Google natural search rankings dropped on most of our long-tail keywords pointing to the same product pages. Do you think that's just coincidence or could the number of products/pages on Google shopping affect natural search results?

Google Analytics Offline Conversions
Hi All, I've been searching the net for this for a while now and haven't found any suitable solutions. I'm looking at a way of importing conversions into Analytics. For a business I work with there is currently a split between Contact Form Submissions (we can track) Mobile Website Calls (we can track) Offline Calls (visit the website via AdWords and pickup the phone) We currently record all call data so we can see just how many calls we are getting from the campaign, and we take notes on keywords and time of call. So manually we can figure out the conversion rate. I was wondering if there was a way to mark certain visits as conversions manually? I'm pretty sure there isn't, but figured this would be the best place to ask! Thanks in advance!

Looking for a competent SEO firm or consultant
Hello Folks, I run an eCommerce site for video surveillance equipment. We used to be on top of page one for related terms until about a year ago and now we are in page 2 or 3. We have 2 in house full time web developers and I have tried 3 different SEO firms with very poor results. I am looking for a competent SEO firm or consultant with proven & verifiable track record. If you or someone you know has used an SEO firm or consultant with good results, I would appreciate if you could point me to them. Thank You!

Recommend a company for Google Product Feed?
Hi there, Is there a Google Product feed company you've used and can recommend? We're not looking for anyone to manage the Adwords end of it, just help set-up/submit the data feed. I'm NOT looking for a free option, I'm looking for a reliable, efficient way to get the feeds set-up and updated. Thanks!

PPC + SEO - Both well ranked, which penalty if there's any.
Hello everyone, I have a doubt about the PPC and SEO. For example if i rank at first page ( something like 5th position ) for one specific keyword, and then I decide to add this keyword to my PPC campaign. My 5th rank will be penalized by google if i buy the PPC keyword ? Thanks.

Google PPC Management
Okay, so I have a client who wants me to manage their ppc on Google. It seems like either they give me access to their PPC account or I manage it via my own account and pre-bill for the cost, later supplying reports. Are those the two options? Thanks...MJ
