Rich snippet star ratings appearing and disappearing
-
For nearly a year, our physician profile pages have been successfully displaying rich snippets in Google search results. Nothing has changed on those pages, but the stars recently vanished from Google.
Example of a physician profile: http://www.realpatientratings.com/Lori-H-Saltz/
We added some new content pages in a different schema category, and those new pages actually do have rich snippets showing in Google search results.
Example of a new product page: http://www.realpatientratings.com/breast-augmentation-reviews.html
Furthermore, the Google Webmaster Tools Structured Data report has me convinced that the Physician profiles aren't coded correctly because it doesn't appear to recognize the Review or Aggregate Rating counts. But the official Structured Data Testing Tool says all is correct.
My instinct is that the code isn't quite right on the physician profile... but I'm not a developer. I need help identifying the source of the real problem.

Hi Irving, I did resolve the issue by updating our schema tags, right after I posted it here in SEOmoz. But just this week they disappeared again. We haven't made any changes either, so now I'm back to fishing in the dark and getting more gray hair than i deserve. We should start a support group, don't you think?

Please share if you ever resolved this issue. Thanks

I can't tell for sure that this will be the cause of your problems but hopefully I can point you at least in the right direction to improve your schema. When using Schema.org rating formatting it's also highly recommended to use all the available properties. From what I can see in your code the physician pages are not using any of the reviewCount and ratingCount properties. Not sure if this could be the cause of your problems however.

Featured Snippet
My website ranks well for several keyphrases (in the form of a questions) in positions 1-3. However, my site will not show up for featured snippets even when I force the options with [site:example.com question?]. Other sites show up in the answer box, but never mine. A side note is that the website has shown up for related queries before, but just not featured snippets. What is my site missing that disallows these snippets?

Rankings appear mixed up causing huge drop in organic
Hi, Our top page appears to have dropped out of the index. The core keyword "business ideas" is still showing us at the top but it's a different post and it's lost all the long-tail. Whats even stranger is that it's not even directly relevant to the topic of business ideas. Looks like something fishy happened here – perhaps due to the recent algo updates. We've always seen a significant increase in organic when anything Panda related updates (c.20%+ growth every time) yet this has compeltely killed us. We spent a long time building this post up, eventually outranking Entrepreneur.com. It's been #1 for Google.co.uk for months. Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated! ikvJVrq

Big drop in bounce rate suddenly
Our site had a huge drop in bounce rate in one day (went from 10% to 3%) and it has stayed that way. What could cause this? P4bYpNF.png

Rankings disappeared on main 2 keywords - are links the issue?
Hi, I asked a question around 6 months ago about our rankings steadily declining since April of 2013. I did originally reply to that topic a few days ago, but as it's so old I don't think it's been noticed. I'm posting again here, if that's an issue I'm happy to delete. Here it is for reference: http://moz.com/community/q/site-rankings-steadily-decreasing-do-i-need-to-remove-links Since the original post, I have done nothing linkbuilding-wise except posting blog posts and sharing them on Facebook, G+ and Twitter. There are some links in there which don't look great (ie spammy seo directories, which I'm sending removal requests to) although quite a lot of others are relevant. Here's my link profile: <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=www.thomassmithfasteners.com</a> I've tried to make the site more accessible - we now have a simple, responsive design and I've tried to make the content clear and concise. In short, written for humans rather than search engines. As of the end of November, 'nuts and bolts' has now disappeared completely, and 'bolts and nuts' is page 8. There are many pages much higher which are not as relevant and have no links. We still rank highly for more specialised terms - ie 'bsw bolts' and 'imperial bolts' are still page 1, but not as high as before. We get an 'A' grade on the on-page grader for 'nuts and bolts, and most above us get F. I was cautious about removing links as our profile doesn't seem too bad but it does seem as if it's that. There are a fair few questionable directories in there, no doubt about that, but our overall practice in recent years has been natural building and link earning. So - I've created a spreadsheet and identified the bad links - ie directories with any SEO connotations. I am about to submit removal requests, I thought two polite requests a couple of weeks apart prior to disavowing with Google. But am I safe to disavow straight away? I say this as I don't think I'll get too many responses from those directories. I am also gradually beefing up the content on the shop pages in case of any 'thin content' issues after advice on the previous post. I noticed 100s of broken links in webmaster tools last week due to 2 broken links on our blog that repeated on every page and have fixed those. I have also been fixing errors W3C compliance-wise. Am I right to do all this? Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'm still not 100% sure if this is Panda, Penguin or something else. My guess is Penguin, but the decline started in March 2013, which correlates with Panda. Best Regards and thanks for any help, Stephen

How would the rich snippets be treated in AJAX website?
Hi guys We have started to rewrite our website http://www.edamam.com on AJAX, and the idea is to have all the website on AJAX in the next few months. Although it would probably be difficult to index even with the Google Crawling protocol, and some other issues might appear, the engineers insist that from technology point of view this is the best way to go. We have already rewritten the internal search result pages, e.g. http://www.edamam.com/recipes/pasta and last week we set the Google Crawling protocol for AJAX to some of the individual recipe pages to test it. I'd like to ask for you opinion on whether the rich snippets we have in the search results will be affected by this change? Are there specific actions we need to take to preserve them? What other hot tips you have for dealing with AJAX on any level of the website? Thanks in advance Lily

Rich Snippets not appearing in Search Results
Hi Everyone, Just a few questions on rich snippets please: We have now integrated microdata (data-vocabulary.org) on all our product pages like http://www.homeshop18.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-310-tablet/computer-peripherals/ipads-tablets/product:30409470/cid:8937/ which I have tested on the rich snippets testing tool which Google provides and all is working fine and is rendering properly in the tool but it is not coming in search results in google. Are we doing everything right or is there any issue in our implementation? How long does it take usually for rich snippets to appear in google organic search results?

Bounce rate and average visit time in an e-commerce site
Dear all, I am managing a Belgian online pharmacy (www.pharma2go.be) . The online pharmacy has a quite high bounce rate (+/- 79%) and low avg. visit time (< 1 minute). This could somehow be related to a choices that have been made in the past to also build the site in English (but without English product texts available - only Dutch and French). The reason is that people all over Europe could order. Another reason could be that also product on prescription are shown which cannot be ordered. This was chosen to still offer the visitors the product leaflets as a service. I am wondering if it would be beneficial for SEO to remove the English version and the on prescription products. At least if this would lower bounce rate and increase the average visit time. Thanks for your input. Kindest regards, Stefaan
