Whats the best way to creat a sitemap for a wordpress sitw with more than 1.000 posts
-
I tried to use yoast and google xml plugins but I´ve notice there are several important posts to me are not there... I´ve already checked if there was any post with noindex, and everything looks good
Now I´m creating the sitemap file with screaming frog but it is not so convenient as a plugin... any suggestions or tips?

Try the DYNO Mapper sitemap generator. It has a plugin built for Wordpress that can authenticate and crawl all of your pages within your Wordpress site or any additional sub-domains that you have. This is great because most large website contain several websites on sub-domains and cms systems. It also includes Google Analytics and Content Audit features to check for bad links and errors. It can export your XML sitemaps for search engines and HTML for your website.

just perfect thomas, many many thanks.. I will check all those links and let you know. Right now I´m testing slickplan and looks great also.
At the momento I´m using WPengine, it works great to me

I would honestly try to troubleshoot Yoast far before I made a site map that did not update when I create new content.
The website for Yoast http://yoast.com/ is very informative and I believe that you can simply turn the index to on in advanced.
although there are some fantastic do-it-yourself site map tools for instance

while you're there check out your robots.txt file make sure nothing's been blocked.

if you find screaming frog one of the best tools on the web if you ask me to be frustrating which it can be. I would look for a another plug-in to create your site map.
This is from personal experience however when WP engine 1st started up they would only allow us to use this plug-in
http://wordpress.org/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/
an excellent plug-in if I may say so
here are some other excellent site maps
http://techpopular.com/seo/google-xml-sitemap-generator-plugin-review-and-settings-for-wordpress/
http://www.webdesignlessons.com/5-sitemap-generator-plugins-for-wordpress/
if I may suggest one more time. I would simply take the Yoast plug-in export all the settings.
Then delete the plug-in as well is empty the cash.
Then reinstall the plug-in it is in my opinion the best for search engine optimization. However there are other alternatives of course.

If I may make another suggestion is if you're using WordPress I suggest using a managed WordPress hosting company.
My reason is twofold they understand hosting and are extremely knowledgeable about WordPress. Many times we spend time trying to figure out things that with a managed WordPress hosting company would mean the answer is we fixed it or do this after only 20 min. They will fix the problem and are well worth it in my opinion.
If I may some great managed WordPress hosting companies are ZippyKid, WPengine, web synthesis, Pagely, get flywheel & presslabs.
I strongly suggest you check them out as they are all fantastic compared to run-of-the-mill hosting and truly do care about your website much more than the average post not to forget their faster and much more secure.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Martin,
I think Slick plan is a great tool. This makes it more of a drawing operation to create a site map . Once the site map is completed you can export this out to XML.

What is the best tactic to fix thousands of product descriptions on an eCommerce site?
I've asked this to dozens of people already, but I still haven't found a satisfactory answer... perhaps someone here can help me: I keep hearing how important it is to update product descriptions to avoid duplicate content, decrease thin content and improve conversion rates - but for any new eCommerce sites like ours, with thousands of listings going up at once, this is nearly impossible to control. Outsourcing is clearly a bad idea from an SEO standpoint as well as a UX standpoint... But are there any other options? Should I let go of my other responsibilities and focuses as an in-house SEO manager and virtually stop, drop and roll out unique product descriptions? That would be a project that would take me at least a year to complete. Do I just give up? Do two descriptions a day and hope for the best? What do you guys think? What have you recommended for others? I can't imagine our company is alone in this dilemma. Thanks in advance! Hanna

How to best host a blog - standalone or on the site?
HI We are redesiging our site currently - at the moment we have a low key blog on the site which is pretty well hidden (to be changed with redesign) but is hosted as brand.com/blog name. I have been advised it might be a good idea on relaunch to have the blog as a standalone blog linking back to our main site but also having a graphic on the site that promotes the blog. The blog does not currently have the same name as the website so would work as a standalone site but I understand it would not have any seo benefits from the original site. I have seen on previous posts here that the best practise is domain.com/blog but wondered if anyone thought different? Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks, Penny

Should we implement rel=author on every past blog post
Hi guys, we're in the process of implementing rel=author markup on our blogs containing more than 3,000 posts. They are written by about 50 different people, and some of them don't blog anymore or are no longer with the company. Should we have rel=author for all blog posts, even those published in 2006? Thanks for your help!

What is the best way to bring a blog into my SEO strategy
We have a blog set up with Blogger and generate some great content on it. What is the best way to optimise the blog from an SEO standpoint? In particular the domain name, it is currently .blogspot.com address, is there a better way to work with that? Obviously the blog is branded with our company logo and name etc but is about the book industry. I'm basically concerned about linking people to our blog and not the website and so not getting much benefit?

Best way to avoid duplicate content issues here.
I am planning to write an article that refutes some claims made in another article. The original article is a 20 page pdf. What I plan to do is to take quotes from this PDF and then under each quote write my arguments for or against the quote. If I take direct quotes from the article, is Google likely to see this as duplicate content?

Google News Sitemaps
I've noticed that Google News has withdrawn the necessity for there to be a minimum of 3 numerical digits in the URL if you submit the content via a new sitemap. Is this 100% correct? I'm working on a site rebuild for a client that is where submission to Google News will be instrumental in their strategy. Are there are difference between UK and US submission as this is UK based?
