A heads-up about problems with the new Google Adwords Keyword Planner tool
-
I noticed that when I was using this tool, the data in the tables would change, often by a lot (up to 50%) when I sorted the columns. (Did nothing else, just sorted.)
Since I was starting a new campaign and really needed data, I contacted Google about this and was told: "I understand that the estimates are changing in the Keyword Planner tool when you sort the data. I reproduced this on my end as well and was able to confirm that this is a known technical issue on our end." "Unfortunately the information in the Keyword Planner Tool is currently not the best source of data for your analysis."
They then went on to suggest I just test things blindly.
So, what do you do to get information about keyword traffic and ppc estimates?
-
I found out about these data result issues a few days ago, but only when I was logged into my AdWords account. I logged out, and you are then using the old and more familiar keyword tool we are all used to. The significant drawback to this is that only 100 keyword ideas are presented at a time.
Doing "blind" tests not only would be frustrating, but you will also be considering for yourself, or worse, presenting "blind" data to your clients about the best keywords to target and why.
I'm going to stay logged out until I see or read that this issue has been resolved. Hope it does soon and hope this helps you out in the short-term.

AdGroup by Match Type or by Keyword?
Hi, Will someone please tell me which AdGroup structure makes the most sense? Grouping Keywords by Match Type? i.e. [pizza store], [pizza restaurant], [pizzeria], etc. or by Keywords? i.e. pizza store, "pizza store", [pizza store] We're basically trying to figure out which structure makes the most sense and which will allow us to earn the best quality score. I've heard of people using both strategies. Personally, I think it should be grouped, more often than not, by keyword. This enables one to tailor the ad and landing page to the specific keyword. I am curious to hear some reasons for grouping them the other way. Thanks for your thoughts.

Best Apps for Tracking Google Analytics, Facebook Pages, and More?
Hi! I'm looking for an iPhone app that I can set up for a client so that he can view data from Google Analytics and Facebook (new "likes," "shares", etc). Is there any such thing? I'm not a big Apple user, but he is, and I'd like to find something that would work well for him. Thanks!

UTMZ not provided keywords
Hi everyone. We have implemented the new google ad tracking code and realized that on paid keywords we get the keyword in our UTMZ tracking cookie. However, if someone just searches a term we are not paying for we get "not provided" in the cookie. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue so we can track our keywords?

How Do You Remove the "Google Site Stats" Tag from a Conversion Page
Our company does not want it up there. Is there a way to remove it without have to change the conversion tracking code? It's quite a pain given our internal processes to overhaul many conversion codes. Is there an easy way to do this so that we can simply remove the tag?

Google Analytics CPC and PPC not Matching
Hi Why do our CPC in Google Analytic not match our PPC in Adword, surely they should be identical? We have Auto-tagging switched on and data in our history is wrong so it is not a timing issue. Thanks

Competitors using bots for AdWords ?
I was having a discussion with a SEO manager on a LinkedIn group about page speed (she pretends that page speed is not taken into account by Google for SERPs at all and claims that all of what Matt Cutts says is BS) ; and she explained that she is using bots to click on her client's competitors AdWords and "kill their daily budget" So my question is, if you run/manage AdWords campaigns, have you ever met noticed such a behaviour, past the few usual click fraud rate ? What is your average fraud rate ?

Your site is in organic results for adwords keyword - improved quality score?
Let's say I am targeting a keyword "Blue Widgets Cityname" with an AdWords campaign. My SEO landing page is coming up in position #6 in the organic results for this keyword. Because I have my website in the organic search results, does my quality score automatically improve? Conversely, my quality score could go up because the organic search results facilitate a higher CTR for both the ads and the organic results. However, I am wondering if there is a quality score algorithmic component that automatically makes my quality score go up simply because the same domain I am targeting is in the organic results.

Keyword domains for AdWords - duplicate content an issue
Hi guys, A client of mine has bought a raft of keyword domains for use in an AdWords campaign. This isn't my area of expertise, hence the question. They have a hosting account which can host an unlimited number of domains. Can they set up the domains with the same content on each site and then use AdWords to drive traffic to the sites? I've suggested they can use rel="canonical" to specify that the preferred site is the main site of the company which should bypass the duplicate content issue. Is this the best way to host the sites or is there a better alternative? Thanks in advance, Brendan.
