Best Approach to Get Backlinks for this site
-
Hello,
What would be a good approach to gain backlinks for this site:
The owners don't have much time to write content. I as the consultant have time but do not have the expertise the owners do. The people that run the site are authorities in the field.
Thanks!

True, and they don't have a blog! I may be able to convince them to start one.
Question: How do organize new articles in a 2013 manner when they've already got an article section with 30 long articles? Here's what I'm talking about:
-
It's a common response though, especially from small businesses where their focus isn't necessarily on their marketing/web presence but on delivering a service and paying their bills.
But, if they're "authorities in the field" and recognized as such by their peers etc then not exploiting that just seems like a criminal waste of a great opportunity.
As Ted said, is there any way you can re-use, re-work existing material that they're already generating? Do they have a mailing list that they're publishing material on?
One technique that may work is to not ask them to "write an article", but get them to tell you "what's hot right now" in their niche and arrange 30 minutes to interview them about it. Or Record this and find someone who has the time to produce the copy you're after. If you're got the budget, find a professional.
Sometimes it's just the thought of having to sit down and write something that's causing the friction - it's not that they don't have anything to say.
I also think Steve's got a point. If you're going to do it, do it properly and produce content that your audience will want to read and engage with. Don't just do it for the sake of links...
-
I was going to suggest dinner where the phones aren't ringing and they don't have to answer emails.
That's what I do with my local clients. -
I will second EGOL’s answer!
If I ever get the time, I will interview EGOL for this expert level help! << This sounds bullshit to me! If I think EGOL’s interview can offer value to my users I definitely have to find some time, create question and send them to him so that I can use it to engage targeted audience around me
Similarly, if they really think that writing can help their website grow and bring leads and conversions to them then they probably have to take some time and write something that is worth reading.
You at your end should find the best places where their content can go live (magazines and newspapers) so that their content can cater large audience and natural links.
Hope this helps!

Assuming they have literature, webinars or other things available as part of their service, you could make some of that info available for free to bloggers or others within the industry and could possibly request they provide the public with a review of the quality of the material.
And beyond that, if they've really successfully coached some people into great lives and incomes, maybe those happy people would be willing to provide links from their web properties to the site, with a thanks, or a review of the work they do or so on.

The owners don't have much time to write content. [..] The people that run the site are authorities in the field.
OK... you said.. "they don't have much time".... then they still have "some time"... and they should use that to the fullest.
IMO they should FIND TIME, because if they are "authorities in the field" they don't want noobs writing their stuff. Kick them in the pants. ...
.... or you can become their cheerleader and buy beer or lunch or cookies or show up in your tutu when they get a new blog post up.

I just answered a similar question and I think my answer fits your question too:
The simple answer is don't produce content for the sake of link building! If you have something to write about that users will find interesting then you should do it by all means but otherwise you will lose credibility and people won't want to link back to you anyway.
The other important thing to remember is link velocity... Don't gain too many links too quickly otherwise, at best, they will be ignored by Google as they will see the links as unnatural.
Ultimately if you have interesting and engaging content people will naturally link back and in my opinion this is best way to handle link building.

Content or Backlinks
HI I have resource issues and need to prioritise my time, I know both content & backlinks are important for SEO, but where will it be most beneficial to spend my time? We are a generalist site, so this also makes things tougher. I have some core areas to work on, but want to be the most effective in the time I spend on them. Thanks!

Best way to do site seals for clients to have on their sites
I am about to help release a product which also gives people a site seal for them to place on their website. Just like the geotrust, comodo, symantec, rapidssl and other web security providers do.

I have notices all these siteseals by these companies never have nofollow on their seals that link back to their websites. So i am wondering what is the best way to do this. Should i have a nofollow on the site seal that links back to domain or is it safe to not have the nofollow.
It wont be doing any keyword stuffing or anything, it will probly just have our domain in the link and that is all. The problem is too, we wont have any control of where customers place these site seals. From experience i would say they will mostly likely always be placed in the footer on every page of the clients website. I would like to hear any and all thoughts on this. As i can't get a proper answer anywhere i have asked.0 -

Hi Ya'll I'm looking for a company or independent who can transition our website from http to https. I want to make sure they know what they're doing with a Wordpress website. More importantly, i want to make sure they don't break any seo juice from external sources while internally nothing gets broken. Anyone have any good recommendations? You can reply back or DM me. Best, Shawn

Site dropped after recovery
Hi everybody! I've been working for http://www.newyoubootcamp.com for some time now. They came to me as they had dropped heavily for their main term, "boot camp". This turned out to be due to a manual penalty, which was in part due to their forum being hacked, as well as some bad link building. Here's an example of the dodgy forum links - http://about1.typepad.com/blog/2014/04/tweetdeck-to-launch-as-html5-web-app-now-accepting-beta-testers.html. The anchor is "microsoft". They've all been 410'd now. Also, we cleaned up the other bad links as best we could, and got through the manual penalty. The site then returned to #5 for "boot camps", below its pre-crash peak of #2, but OK. Over the past few weeks, it has started to slide though. I'm certain it is not down to a lack of quality links - this site has great PR and links from national newspapers and magazines. There's been a few on-site issues too, but nothing outrageous. I'm getting a bit stumped though, and any fresh eyes would be much appreciated!

Getting over that DA hump...
Hi All, I have a client with a sizeable international manufacturing operation who we've managed to get up to a DA of 40 over time. However, things seem to have levelled out, and I'm not sure how to mix it up to get the numbers back on the rise. We create regular blog and social content, run press releases bi-weekly, optimize on-page content and stay on top of all technical issues. What else can we do?? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Our Site's Content on a Third Party Site--Best Practices?
One of our clients wants to use about 200 of our articles on their site, and they're hoping to get some SEO benefit from using this content. I know standard best practices is to canonicalize their pages to our pages, but then they wouldn't get any benefit--since a canonical tag will effectively de-index the content from their site. Our thoughts so far: add a paragraph of original content to our content link to our site as the original source (to help mitigate the risk of our site getting hit by any penalties) What are your thoughts on this? Do you think adding a paragraph of original content will matter much? Do you think our site will be free of penalty since we were the first place to publish the content and there will be a link back to our site? They are really pushing for not using a canonical--so this isn't an option. What would you do?
