Duplicate Content
-
Hi
Does anyone know a site where i can paste text to test for duplication? We've used some outstanding freelancer copywriters in the past but need to check the authenticity of the article created before publishing,
Thanks
Gary

Thanks Keri
As of yesterday we used Copyscape premium. We also ran a few tests on this for obvious duplicates - pleased to say everything seemed to run smoothly and like you said, it's very quick to process.
Your feedback is much appreciated.
Regards
Gary

There's a free tool at http://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/ that will check up to 1500 words. It takes about half your content, chunks it up into 3-7 word phrases, and searches Google for the text. You paste the text in, it doesn't need to be live already. Quotation marks in the text will sometimes lead to false positives, so be aware of that.
You'll want to check the entire piece, even if you need to break it up into parts to check it, so that you can check for both outright duplicate content and for spun content. Sometimes there will be just one phrase in all of the text that is identical and not spun, then you'll see the result and see that you're looking at a reworded version of a post that's already live. I turn down many YouMoz ever week because of spun content.
Copyscape premium will also check pasted content for $0.05 per check USD. It's quite fast. I've only recently begun using it, so I can't speak as much to the accuracy, especially with spun content, but it is also a nice tool to have.

Hi Gary,
You can Quickly check duplication by Simply copying the content paragraph and put in Google.
It will bold all the already published content and Will be Super Quick.
And For sure, You can use copyscape or anyother available service.
thanks

Hi Gary. I use CopyScape at copyscape.com
The free version only reads from a webpage, so you would need to create a temporary page, publish all or parts of the article you are curious about, check it, then delete the temporary page.

Developing supporting content for main ideas
I attended Mozcon this year and the session by Joe Hall "Rethinking Information Architecture for SEO and Content Marketing" has me considering some changes to our site structure and architecture. I'm currently putting together a landing page for our webinars but could things like webinars and case studies be considered supporting content to our main ideas? For example instead of my architecture being: home > webinars > webinar about an idea It could be: home > main idea 1 > webinar about an idea So my webinar landing page would link out to all of the different webinar pages on the site instead of being contained in this bucket. Just wanted to get some thoughts on this.

Duplicate content - 6 websites, 1 IP. Is the #1 site knocked down too?
Yes I know, running multiple websites on 1 IP isn't smart. 6 Websites with duplicate content on 1 IP is even worse. It's a technical issue we can't solve quickly. Thing is, our #1 website, which has the highest DA and PR, was the first website with all this content. All other websites we're running were launched a few months, and some a few years, later. All content was copied from the #1 website. I'd say the other websites would get knocked down by Google, because they duplicated the content. Google should see that our #1 website was the first that uploaded this content. Therefore our #1 website should rank normally. Questions is: What does Google think of duplicate content when all websites are on 1 IP? Is, or will our #1 website get punished as well?

Duplicate content on forums?
I am creating a forum. I am concerned that when I create the forum, users will copy content from other places to post onto my forum. How negative/bad is this in terms of google eyes? I am concerned when people copy press releases and re-post it to the forum. Should I make a rule that all content must be typed and not copied? Or is a little copying okay?

How quickly should one add content?
I'm building a content site (the model is AdSense revenue) around a certain niche, and I'm currently paying for about 6 articles to be contributed per week. I have the capacity to be paying for a lot more articles, however, so I'm wondering what, if any, factors exist to recommend building the site up slowly as opposed to throwing on e.g. 100 articles over the next week? Those I can think of are: 1. Going slowly leaves room for better keyword optimization etc. 2. Google seems to favor aged domains/content, so 100 good articles now certainly isn't as advantageous as 100 articles 2 years from now. All that being said, I still feel like the benefit in terms of traffic of adding more content now - since I can - might outweigh these considerations. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !
Hi guys, I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl. For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 ** When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL. What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Duplicate Websites
What would you do if a competitor had their main domain, and then another domain targeting your local area with the same exact content? That's currently happening to me, and I'm not sure what I should do about it, if anything: http://www.bozemanchevrolet.com and http://www.montanachevy.com

Using testimonials to build quality content
I don't see a lot of talk on here about using testimonials to build good content. From what I have seen, the search engines love client testimonials. I haven't found a good service provider for this yet. I'm thinking something combined with Twitter or FB that also allows you to show the content on your site would be great. Can anyone recommend a service like this? I'm checking out a service called, "Quick Vouch" but I haven't tested it yet.
