Do g+ Reviews From New Accounts Count?
-
We want to get some more reviews on g+ and we have clients who will to write them. The problem is that almost none of them have g+ accounts. While they are nice enough to create a profile, just to do a review for us, I'm wondering if that will even matter? Does anyone know how google handles reviews from scant profiles?
My fear is that google will treat reviews from scant profiles like spam, even though they won't be. While I don't mind asking our clients to write us g+ reviews, I can't very well ask them to be active on g+ so google thinks they more credible.
Is this fear legitimate? Does anyone know one way or the other?
Thanks,
Ruben

I have not checked out 5stars.com, but I will. We were definitely warned about getting too many reviews at once. We were thinking about limiting the amount of people we ask, so we don't get more than two per week at most. I don't know if that amount would trip any filters, but I guess we'll see.

Hi Ruben,
Yes, there is a chance that the very fact that a Google account is new may cause reviews stemming from it to be viewed with suspicion by Google and potentially filtered out. Unfortunately, there is no way around this. Does this mean you shouldn't ask non-Google users who are clients of yours to leave a review? No - some of the reviews may make it through the filter, but this should not be your only strategy. It may be that a client who doesn't happen to have a Google profile may be an active user of some other type of review website. Letting clients know you have profiles at websites A, B, C and D where you'd love a review may help them see that they can review you on a website where they are already active.
Alternatively, if you are dealing with clients who just aren't Internet-savvy at all, they can still be great resources for testimonials that can be marked up on your own website with good markup, building a different kind of authority and potentially getting you stars in your Google results.
Have you checked out Get5Stars.com at all? It's a paid service, but it's one that can be a big help in situations like this in which you've got customers at different levels of engagement and want to help them take a positive path towards leaving you feedback - whether in the form of testimonials or reviews.
I also recommend you read:
And, remember, no business should set as its goal getting a ton of Google-based reviews at once. This, in itself, can trip filters. A very modest, slow-paced acquisition is the best way to go about earning Google-based reviews, and building a diverse profile of reviews and testimonials across multiple sites should be the ultimate goal.

Oh, and I appreciate it very much! I was just curious if you tested it with anything else, is all. But, I will give both a try and let you know how it worked on our end.
I really do appreciate you sharing your results.

Really? That's disheartening. Well, what if they signup with another email provider? Yahoo or MSN? It's really not realistic for us to give out a bunch of domain specific emails, but if it's the only way, we'll have to think of something.
Thanks,
Ruben

Hi Ruben,
Here is the Trick to Post G+ Reviews
You cannot do reviews with New free Gmail address, If you do ,, Your review will be deleted.
Now here is the Way to do it :
Create a domain based email address like ruben@abc.com , Create proper profile with images and all other info And then Post the review, It will stay there for Long. You can create new ids with different domains and keep doing .This is how We do and its Working.
Thanks

Yoast Social Accounts URL Section
Hi When you click: Social within Yoast plugin it defaults to 'Account' tab and displays a list of fields to enter your social media account urls. Sentence above list says: "To inform Google about your social profiles, we need to know their URLs. For each, pick the main account associated with this site and please enter them below" What does that mean exactly and does it effect links on the site etc or literally is just Yoast telling G ? Also if you have sub sites for different language versions (WP on Multi User setup), which in turn have their own language specific social media account versions , should you enter those urls in the sub site language version own Yoast plugin fields OR , as per "...pick the main account associated with this site and please enter them below" use the primary social account and not the language specific social account or just leave them blank ? Many Thanks Dan

Is it important for SEO that YouTube and Google + be used under the same Google Account?
Hello - I have a client that has their Google Plus and YouTube under separate Google accounts. My thoughts are that it'd be best for SEO and awareness with Google that their active YouTube channel to be under their active Google Plus account. My question is: Is it recommended for SEO that we upload the videos to her prominent Google business account (they only have about 100 subscribers)? If we did this we would delete them from the other account to avoid dup. content. We are in a position where we can make this change easily if it is recommended and good for SEO--which I would think it would be. So we would like to know now if we should make this change before we grow the YouTube channel further, or if we should leave it how it is. Any insight would be very helpful! Thank you!

Sharing Blogs on my Personal or Business Google plus Account
Hi i have been using my business G+ account to share my blogs, but have realised that this would have been better using my personal G+ account. Should i now go back through those 50+ blogs and re-share via my personal G+ account eg one every 3 days or should i re-share the G+ business entry? Thanks Ash

Counting unique landing pages in Google Analytics: social vs organic channels
Remember the technique Rand posted for counting the unique indexed landing pages on a site? http://moz.com/blog/indexation-for-seo-real-numbers-in-5-easy-steps I'm using Google Analytics to compare this result for the "social" channel vs. the "organic search" channel. The idea is to see whether social or search delivers people to more unique landing pages. I would expect organic search to yield a significantly higher count, due to long tail searches for relatively obscure terms. We have an archive of over 500k pages that Google could be indexing, even if only a fraction of a percent of those might be getting social mentions. But that's not what the numbers show -- I'm seeing roughly 10% higher numbers for the Social channel than for Organic Search. Again, I'm counting unique landing pages here, not the total pageviews or visits. If anyone else here is monitoring these metrics, please chime in with your results. What's the baseline expectation for a large website with hundreds of thousands of pages of issue-centric user-generated content? Should search traffic provide 2x more landing page exposures than social? 5x? 10x? or 0.9x, as in my case? In short, I believe these numbers are pointing to an indexing/ranking problem following a recent site redesign.

Why has SEOmoz removed its G+ code?
Hi, Back in Jan I asked "Why has SEOmoz added G+ code to multiple pages?" - I wanted to double check something so looked at your source code but see that you've now removed the rel="publisher" code from all of your pages... Could you please let me know why its been removed? I don't want to add it to my site and find out 2 weeks later that you've done a big test and shown it hurts rankings or something like that. Thanks FashionLux

Linking Facebook - Twitter - Website - G+ Profiles
During a spectacular presentation at Seattle Interactive Conference, Rand discussed how Google is able to see linkage between different social networks and a Google profile. Outside of setting up your Twitter feed to send loads of messages to your Facebook fans (or vice versa), is there a best way to communicate the "linkage" between your social media profiles to the search engines? Eg - How do you best signal to Google that your Twitter, Facebook, G+ and your website are from the same entity?
