Local SEO Tools for UK
-
Hi guys
I'm looking for any recommendations for local SEO tools in the UK? I keep stumbling across a variety of different tools but they all seem to cater for the US market only.
Any tools or tips would be greatly received!

Hi everyone!
I'm happy to say that Moz Local is now available in the UK. You may learn more about it here: https://moz.com/blog/moz-local-uk

Hi DHStom,
We had so many readers point out that many of the tools in my post are US-centric. It left me wondering how much of this was caused by the fact that my area of knowledge in Local SEO is strongly tied to serving US businesses, and how much of this reflects a lack of tool development in other regions like the UK, Canada and Australia. I am not sure of the answer to this.
I believe the best-known suite of Local tools for UK users is the paid tools from BrightLocal.com. These are not free tools, of course, but they are spoken of very highly.
You might also like to check out this post by Nyagoslav Zhekov from 2012 regarding citation tools and they areas they serve. Nyagoslav has done Local SEO in more countries than anyone I know:

The post is now a couple of years old, so I'm not 100% sure about the current status of the tools mentioned.
It would be great if someone could put together an awesome list of Local SEO tools that support countries other than the US and submit a post to YouMoz on this. Clearly, there is need for such information!

Yes, I had the same problem. you can use some of the tools manually (i.e look at what they are looking for). Unfortunately I don't do a great deal of local so its' most manual submissions for me.
Good luck though.

Thanks Chris - yes I saw this and it was certainly very valuable. Was just keen to hear from any individuals responsible for UK based websites, as a lot of the tools & techniques were US based.

I presume you checked out yesterdays blog post - http://moz.com/blog/free-local-seo-tools

Checking subdomains/ site structure of a website for International SEO
Dear Moz community, I am looking into two websites for a friend and we want to understand the following: What is the site structure as per the sub domains? e.g currently it is .com/en/ or .com/ru/ or .com/zh/ Using the crawl report, each page has a en or other language version. I take it this means that we have to create copy, meta titles and descriptions for each of the languages even if the page is the same but in a different language? To avoid duplication of content would you suggest canonical tags to be put in place? To check hreflang mark up, I couldn't find anything in the code which makes me thing a script is automatically translating this? This is the first time I have started to look at international SEO and want to understand what to look for in an audit of exisiting sites. Thank you,

Research on industries that are most competitive for SEO?
I am trying to see if there is a reputable / research-backed source that can show which industries are most competitive for search engine optimization. In particularly, I'd be interested in reports / research related to the residential real estate industry, which I believe based on anecdotal experience to be extremely competitive.

International site, be visible on both .com and .co.uk?
Do you guys have any tips to increase the visibility in both Google.com and Google.co.uk? The site today, have good visibility in USA, but its poor in the UK... Information: The server is based in US. No region is set in the Google Webmaster Tools. Incoming links are from global regions, mostly US. Do we need to add a specific section for the UK (uk.site.com or site.com/uk/) and specify region in GWT to make sure Google handle this the right way? Its a lot of work, rewrite all the content for another section, which also is in english...

Local SEO + Best Practice for locations
Hi All, Based on a hypothetical scenario, lets say you are a plumber. You live and operate within Chelsea in London. You have established a Google places profile and incorporated schema data to tell Google your fixed place location. In addition you operate in several nearby towns with no fixed location presence. i.e Brentford, Bromley, Catford, Cheswick and Tottenham. I create a feature rich page on 'How to find a quality plumber'. Within the page I incorporate the following description: blah blah, as a quality plumber serving the community of Chelsea, we also offer our services to nearby towns of Brentford, Bromley, Catford, Cheswick and Tottenham. I create hyperlinks for the towns (Brentford, Bromley, Catford, Cheswick and Tottenham) that allow the user see in details a full list of services, operation hours, etc. Naturally all towns will have there own unique content (no duplication). Question

Is the above scenario the correct way to provide local seo or is this approach considered spammy to Google? Thanks Mark0 -
Local Rank riddle
