A/B Testing.. Are you doing? how is it been? What do you think would be the best path for who is starting now?
-
Hey Mozers,
One of my 2014 resolutions is to start doing A/B Testing, so far I have been following "best practices" and "common sense" when comes to website design, but I would like to go above and beyond.
I was hoping a could get a few tips some of you that are already doing A/B testing.
How is it been? Do you see a great ROI? What do you think would be best path for who is starting now? Any book or links you would recommend?
Thanks

Hi Filip,
Check this article out - http://blog.kissmetrics.com/100-conversion-optimization-case-studies/ - 100 case studies broken down in simple format. By having 100 case studies one can really see there is no right / wrong and one approach for all websites, but at the same time some outstanding tips and observations. 1 thing I have learned: keep it simple, ideally focus on 1-2 main messages on your homepage, even though you burn to highlight 10 different things you feel is so great about your business.

Hi Felip,
I really like this page: http://whichtestwon.com/ - it shows different A/B testing people have conducted and results. You can get some ideas from this.
When I first started, I also read this blog post from Optimizely.
Other tricks I did was to visit competitor websites and see what they are doing to get ideas for my own A/B test.

Is this spammy/panda problem?
We have a property site and have many area pages with listings of properties. For example, one page may have up to 30 properties listed, with 100 words of description on that listing page for that property and then you click 'more info' to get to the page of that property with maybe 200 words in total. I want to add bullet points for each property on the area page but Im worried that it may be seen by google as spammy even though its usefull to the client. For example, if I had 30 properties on a page, and 28 of them said next to each picture.. Property Type: Shared, Open Plan, Single Bed Would that be a problem for google?

Best practice for product detail when all products are onepage
HI there,
Web Design | | Hephey
I have a page utilizing isotope with multiple products with small text excerpts and when you click an item i opens a detailed view without requiring a new page load. I've read some of the one page posts but can't get my head around what's best SEO wise when dealing with possible duplicate content. I guess one method could be to have the product list with small excerts of text and all the details hidden in some json and then when the user clicks it, it will open the product and fill with details from inline json. The click action is overring the a tag action e.g. with jquery, so the the a tag has a clean url to a proper subpage with meta, h1 and all that stuff so google can follow it. The jquery thing enables the navigation without a page reload and I can update the document url with pushState.
The subpage, if visited directly, includes the same animation stuff as the master but now has h1, p meta specific to that product but still with same effect, navigation and layout as the master page. Does anybody know if there is a better way to do this with one page sites when wanting to seo optimize detailed contents?0 -
Best Practices for home page design for ecommerce website
I know this question is not directly related to SEO, but I figured I have been getting some good help from this forum, so why not? The website is www.vrtack.com. I am looking to redesign the home page. It is an ecommerce website selling equestrian clothing and leather goods. My goals are: 1. Reduce the very high bounce rate and drop-off rate. 2. Fine tune the relevancy of the website towards a handful of keyword phrases. 3. Engage the visitor to create better click-through and to increase the average time spent on the page/site. 4. Page Loading time is of importance. It has to load quickly. I would love to hear some specific suggestions, examples, best practices.

White Text / Black Background & SEO Impact
Does anyone know of any testing / studies with evidence that Google prefers dark text on a light background vs. light text on a dark background? I have a website that currently has light text on a black background, and really like the way it looks, but am concerned that the style may be hurting SEO. Moreover, redesigning something inverse with the same quality would be a large project and fairly costly, so I'd like to make sure the benefit will really be worth the cost before moving forward.

Best strategy for multiple internal links
We have a website that has a whole heap of internal links. After re-structuring the footer links to the main categories we are now looking at the best way to display the internal links from each category (approx 20-50 links from each). At present they are simply listed on the corresponding category page, however this doesnt look great so we want to display them in a way that is user friendly and also seo friendly. Any suggestions and examples appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best way to handle Spanish/English WEBSITE
Hey guys, How are you doing? I have a website (www.aceromart.com ) in which the primary language is Spanish. The company is oriented toward the Mexican Audience. However, recently we are dealing with many U.S companies. Also, we want to be included in the Yahoo Directory and several other directories which demand a U.S version of the website. So i want to have a U.S version of the website. My ecommerce is based in the NETWORK Solutions platform and has around 1,000 products and pages. What is the best way to include an English version of the website. Ive seen some pages using the Google traslate tool, which only traslates the text. Hope to hear some of your ideas, Regards,
