Local seo yoast plug in
-
https://yoast.com/wordpress/local-seo/
Anyone used?
Any good?
I have purchased as Yoast seems to be a good all rounder.
I am targetting geographical and my question is:
Is there any seo benefit ?It isnt a requirement of the plug in to add a physical addess ( you can add that it isnt and put a town)
I did a quick test http://www.themorrisagency.co.uk/locations/kent-band-hire/
In conjunction with an area page would Mr Google smile with glee or get his big red marker out ?
Cheers as always!

The plug-in is something I use on quite a few clients sites.
I really like it because of its ease of use and the way it looks. However you can do the same thing with schema but for the money it is a great buy you can do everything that is needed to provide your business hours, address, phone number and it codes it perfectly allowing you to work on other things.
I agree with Miriam,
you must have a brick-and-mortar address and do face-to-face business in order to have a Google local listing.
Nice work finding that information. In addition you may want to look at
getlocal.org now owned by Moz has a lot of local knowledge.
For citations check out Whitespark.ca
you can get a discount from Moz.com/perks
hope this helps,
Thomas

Hi Daniel,
It sounds as if you already found an answer to your original question, so that's good.
Regarding citation building - yes, this is something to be handled with care. The most important thing is to ensure that your NAP (business name, address, phone) is the same every place your business is listed around the web. That is also correct that you should only be building citations for physical locations. So, a plumber in city A who serves cities B-E is still only going to build one listing for his business on each platform. He's not going to build them for cities where he isn't physically located.
Hope this makes sense.

I have just finished reading a very long post from another so I think that has answered my questions.
If I am right:
Citation scoring is quite involved and it needs to be done well to get benefit or pay the price.
I am setting my company up for franchising so, until then, no local listings unless they have the addresses and other things to go with it...right?

I've recently been cracking down on some spammy listings. How do I measure the success? Can I only do so with a third party tool like Moz? Thanks!

For this test I am using google's "Ad Preview and Diagnostics" tool in adwords. And I took some screen shots to show you my problem. My company name is PhillyDoors, Inc. and the website is phillydoors.com Keyword: garage door repair.

Picture: 4 I have done some link building in the past that is helping me rank number 1 organically. I am also using moz local and my score is 86%. (pic 5) I simply do not understand why I am ranking so well organically but my local rankings are pretty terrible. While the listing "Garage Door Repair Service" is ranking at the top of the list. I understand that it is against Google's policy to name the listing something like this when your company name and website name is completely different. What can I do to rank better locally for more keywords and more cities rather than just a single zip code? hrsZZfF TTFr1rQ aDJSwWV BnyZP BnyZP0 -
SEO best practices for store locator and local pages - 301 or not?
I have been struggling to answer this on my own and now throwing up for the Moz community for a life line. Our company has several location across 6 states. We have local pages that we are working to improve with better content. We also have a store locator that will list the stores but the pages are not the same. See below example. I can't help but feel like I am splitting juice and traffic that should be combined to one page for each location. Any ideas or advice on how we can best combine/funnel the traffic to one optimized page? Here is an example: State local page - http://www.jakesfireworks.com/michigan/ Locator page for state - http://www.jakesfireworks.com/locator/?state=MI City local page - http://www.jakesfireworks.com/michigan/grand_rapids City Locator page - http://www.jakesfireworks.com/locator/?id=183&state=MI

There is a new location opening soon and would like to set up local pages for it. What is the best/most SEO friendly way to write out the physical address? I looked on USPS and they show: 7227 W GRAND PKWY S

RICHMOND TX 77407 But local businesses seem to have the West and South written out: 7301 West Grand Parkway SouthRichmond, TX 77407Is there a best practice for this, or does it not make much of a difference as long as the website/local listings all match exactly? Not sure about writing out "West" or using "S." for the cardinal direction.0 -
Google keeps updating/tweaking my Local business branch addresses ? to whats different in my citations and on page. how can I stop it?
Hi All, I have a number of branches as we have separate branch pages and separate google local listings for these. I have been trying to keep them in consistent for citation purposes but google keeps trying to tweak the address in the local listings. Sometimes for example , google is trying to remove the premises number from the Road e.g 78 Doncaster Road is the actual branch address but google local business wants it as Doncaster Road, I also see Google is wanting to sometimes remove the locality name etc?.. Also If the local listing has a county ( in America - you would have State) , google is sometimes wanting to remove this add United Kingdom in Country instead ?. Is this a problem and how to deal with it as I think this is obviously impacting my local rankings?. If i approve all these changes then do I need update all my citations and page addresses all the time ? Or can I just leave the suggested "Update" or overwrite googles suggestion with what I had originally. Does anyone else have this problem ? thanks pete

I have noticed two changes in SEO from Dec 2014 to Now
Why has most of the local pages from google disappeared? There were normally 3-6 local listings on Google but now it has vanished? Has the algorithm or rules changed? Secondly i noticed a massive swing in seo rankings. I have done some testing i i found that google now gives you different rankings depending on the area that you in. So i can safely assume that the algorithms have changed and you now get results based on your area? The top 4-5 rankings stay the same but everything else changes to your current location. Am i wrong, what has changed. Please help.

Is there a way to get your local SERP by zipcode?
I have multiple stores across various zipcodes and i'm having difficulty trying to provide an average Positioning on SERP by region. I do know that your SERP varies by region because different areas use different vernaculars. Does anyone know of a way that I can provide a SERP for keywords/terms by county or zip code?
