How to find keywords in super-small niche?
-
hi
I try to find good keywords to rank a “dog day care” site for and can't seem to find anything that makes sense.
This is a company that sells franchises of their service – dog day care. So there is a “mother site” where they advertise service in general and try to sell franchises.
If you go “pet franchise”; “pet franchises”; “dog day care franchise” etc – you get virtually zero traffic keywords.
On the other hand if I use “doggy day care” it will bring mostly people who are looking for a place to leave their dog for a day. Doesn't make sense either way.
Same goes for local sites. If you look at “doggy day care location” it brings next to nothing. Using “doggy day care” without specific location doesn't make sense either, as certain location applies only to people living in say 50 mile radius.
I would really appreciate any ideas how to approach this. How to promote small “dog day care” franchising company?
And how to promote particular locations?
Thank you in advance,
JJ

I agree that keyword rankings just aren't all that important in the scheme of things. However - if that is what they care about at least that part of your job will be very easy. They will rank - of this there is no doubt.
You are more than welcome for the suggestions - I hope it works out for you (and your client).
Cheers

@Federico Einhorn @DennisSeymour I will try this tool on weekend. I'm using google keyword planner, moz tools, market samurai and other methods. I know semrush as well. The problem is that there seems to be a very limited number of searches for this niche keywords, regardless which tool you use. @ Billy Jefferson Yes, that was exactly my suggestion. It's comforting to see that someone actually confirms it. The problem is that they seem to be obsessed with “keyword rankings” which in this case is secondary in my opinion. I want to target “dog blogs” in certain areas and use FB advertising to target people who have/like dogs and live in areas of our interest. Suggestion about “kennels” and especially partnering with local hotels was something I haven't thought about before. Thank you for your help Regards, JJ

You might consider going a bit more broad with terms like "franchise opportunities" etc.... I believe that your more long tail terms are going to be so niche that although they will drive more relevant traffic, they aren't going to drive much of it at all but pairing these with more broad (yet still relevant terms) should at least get the ball rolling.
Something like this is probably going to do better with more direct advertising as well - ads on pet specific websites, veterinarian websites and maybe some start up type or entrepreneur blogs...
These super niche sites can be far more difficult to drive relevant traffic to than websites in super competitive markets but you can do it. It will take some out-of-the-box thinking
For the local sites I would concentrate more on 'kennel' terms than 'day care' terms but again - ads on local vet websites etc... would be your best bet - even partnering with local hotels that don't allow pets and get them to advertise the kennel on their hotel websites would probably be a great idea.
Good luck.

Ubersuggest and Keyword Researcher can help with getting keywords from Google instant. You could try Adwords and see there. You could try to find competitors as well, and use Semrush.

Keyword are not ranking
Hello, Recently We have a taken a project " http://customerconnect-services.com/ " and are responsible for the Digital Marketing for the website. FYI, we have been following the best On-Page SEO practices ever since we took the project: Performing Keyword Research, Finalizing the Keywords,Using those in the Page-Title, Meta-Descriptions, Heading Tags and of course in the Content as per MOZ suggestions & SEO standards. But, we are unable to rank in first page; all the considered keywords have a ranking of 51+ which is a serious matter of concern for us. We have also checked whether the Domain / URL has been blacklisted, but it's not (Not even by Google). We are therefore unable to figure out what is going wrong even after following so many best practices to get the keywords a good ranking (1st & 2nd page of SERPs). Therefore I would like to request you to provide your expert opinions in this regard by checking what is it that we are not getting right. The website is euro t20 slam As this is a high-priority issue for us & the client is a prestigious one of course, please help.Looking forward to hearing from you at the earliest.

Spam sites republish a article with 'money keyword' anchor text and causing a pentalty.. how to prevent.
About 6 weeks ago we had a DA50 / PA50 homepage site publish an article on our company which included a money keyword anchor text to our site.. Great. Once this happened we shot up the SERP for this term, but quite a few other spam / crawler sites seem to automatically republish everything this DA50 site publishes. This didnt seem to be a problem up until a couple of weeks ago, but now with the new penguin update it seems we have been slapped with a penalty, for having 20 sites all with the same article and anchor text. (the rest of our profile is pretty natural, so this is the main culprit for the penalty) Im now going to write to all the webmasters apart from the DA50 site, and ask them to remove the article, failing that ill have to disavow them. For future reference what is there a way of avoiding this issue of spam sites republishing a propper article and triggering a penalty.

I am starting to try to gain traffic for long tail keywords. Does someone have a simple plan as to how to do this? I add them to blog posts naturally? OK but there are hundreds and hundreds so this will take alot of blogs?

Which of the following actions caused a drop in keyword ranking?
Hello, About 2 months ago we build a specific page arround the keyword 'kerstkaarten' (christmas cards in Dutch). It moved up to the first page (7th position), but last week we fell back to a +50 position.

The changes we made during the last week where minimal, and I really don't have an idea what may have caused the sudden drop in ranking. Maybe you can help? Link: http://www.smartphoto.be/nl/belangrijke-momenten/kerst/kerstkaarten Changes made: -> I changed the keyword kerstkaarten on tim on the page to 'kerstkaartjes', because the Moz page grader said the keyword density was a bit too high. -> We changed the top image on the page with a different promo. Title of the image changed from 'kerstkaarten-promo' to 'kerstkaarten-wenskaarten' -> The date on a small legal text on the page changed -> We got 2 backlinks from bloggers who've written an article about our christmas cards. So no major changes in my opinion. Any ideas? Thanks a lot! hz2DpJS0 -
White hat on a small business budget.
How can a small internet marketing firm build links and do SEO for small business clients? Seems to me the white hat link building would be next to impossible to do while making money at the same time. Say a small business client has $300 per month to spend on internet marketing... how can you possibly do white hat work for that kind of money? If you can... then how?

Google unranks target keywords
I have read a number of changes in Google (see:http://searchengineland.com/too-much-seo-google%E2%80%99s-working-on-an-%E2%80%9Cover-optimization%E2%80%9D-penalty-for-that-115627)

But as of late I am having some problems with my website, and I am curious if anyone of you are also experiencing the same.
The problem is this in SEO it is a SOP that you use your target keyword as your anchor text having the url as the landing page for the page you want to rank for.
But recently the pages I want to rank for specific keywords are going down instead Google is ranking my homepage for keywords I don't want to rank for.
So instead of having my target pages rank it is my homepage that gets shown in Google, now this is what is really interesting the keywords I rank for are not in the meta title, description, keywords of the homepage in fact there are no specific keywords at all in the content!
I checked the backlinks and I have never created any backlinks to my site using those keywords I rank for.
And this is happening at a very fast rate, rankings and pages going down and only the homepage is showing up in Google.
I really want to know your thoughts.0 -
Does google extract out keywords from links that use the url as the anchortext?
If someone formats a link like so: http://www.somedomain.com/keyword1-keyword2/keyword3.php Would you still get a similar anchor text benefit to this link as if it was formated like so: somedomain keyword1 keyword2 keyword3 what i mean is, does google extract out keywords from links that use the url as the anchortext?
