I have been a subcriber for 2 months now and I need a LOT of HELP!!
-
I feel like I have THROWN away $200. I am not very SEO or Wordpress familiar. I have a Word Press site and I thought MOZ would help me set it up to be SEO friendly, but in 2 months I am more lost than before. I have read a few help topics, but I don't understand the terminology enough to use the help topics either. I need to ask someone a question, but I don't have one specific question. PLEASE ADVISE ON WHERE A PERSON WHO NEEDS SEO FOR DUMMIES should start????

Hi Kimberly,
Thank you for coming here for help! I definitely understand—we all started somewhere, and there's a lot of information in your account.
Most of our educational materials can be found in the Learn section. Specifically, though, the best place to get an understanding of SEO, and inbound marketing in general, is The _Beginner's Guide to SEO. _It's a solid overview of the concepts, and can be pretty easily read in an afternoon. Then, for drilling into specific concepts and techniques, I suggest spending a little time in Moz Academy. The videos are very engaging, and should give you a good idea of how to apply what you'll learn in the Beginner's Guide.
That should give you a great background in inbound concepts and terminology, and make your time in the Help Hub and Moz Analytics much more valuable.
If you get in there, though, and aren't sure how to get going, Cyrus Shepard has outlined a basic SEO process in "How to Rank: 25 Step SEO Master Blueprint."
Of course, feel free to ask questions if you get stuck again!

A few tips:
1 - Use the Moz Tools + Google ad words to Make a Keyword research and Competition analyses to make sure you're not going after keywords that are impossible for you to rank or do not have impressions. (Try pick keywords with difficult below 45% and above 100 impressions)
2 - Use the On Page Grander on your Moz Dashboard to make sure all your pages are well optimized especially for the keywords you can compete.
3 - Check your competitors back links using open site explorer and see if you can get a link in any of the sites where they already have links.
If you pick the right keywords and your niche is not very competitive, you should be able to start seeing results doing just those 3 things.

Hey Kimberly,
I would highly suggest checking out the resources on this page: Learn SEO
A good place to start with the Moz Toolset is to click on (from within your campaign) "Search >> On-Page Optimization >> Add & Manage Page Grades". You can enter your main page URLs and their corresponding main keywords. Moz will automatically check a plethora of areas on your page and give you feedback on where you can improve the grade given.
Also check out "Crawl Diagnostics" under the same "Search" menu. There's a lot of data in there about what's potentially harmful to your site. Things like 404 pages, duplicate content, missing title tags, duplicate title tags, overly dynamic URLs, and much more. If you are unsure of what something means, like "overly dynamic URLs" for example, and you've got 90 results for that, you can search Google for help on fixing it. Or ask here. Or you might even stumble into that issue and ways to resolve it in the "Learn SEO" link above.
Good luck!

The thing is not to worry because it can be hard to grasp at first but once you start to hear the same terms mentioned then you'll start to understand it better. Moz did this some time ago that's worth a read http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo/basics-of-search-engine-friendly-design-and-development
Concentrate on making your title tags unique, descriptive whilst containing 1/2 of your keywords you want to rank for. There is a plugin called SEO for Wordpress that is ideal. You can edit your meta descriptions there too. Make sure you have a page for each service/product you are offering and ensure the content for these are descriptive and unique.

Hi
You could start by looking at your domain authority and page rank of your site, and compare that to your competitors.
If you could share your domain name I can take a quick look for you.
Also might be worth looking at where your competitors are getting links from, and seeing how you could go about getting similar links.
That is the basic area I would start off with - but MOZ has some awesome features, get the basic's done first and then you can really start to get some value for your money.
Also watch the whiteboard Fridays, these are very useful and as they a video - a great way to spend Friday afternoons and you can quickly learn alot.

5xx Crawl Issue might not be issues at all. Help
Hi, I ran a crawl test on our website and it came back with 900 5xx potential errors. When I started opening these links 1 by 1 I could see they were actually working. So i exported the full list of 900 and went to the website: https://httpstatus.io/ pasted the links by 100 and used that. They came back with status codes of 301 / 301 / 200 which i believe means they are okay. After reading it says that my programmer may need to see if we are blocking the MOZ BOT or to slow the MOZ BOT down. I guess I'm wondering if this is not done is the site actually having these 5xx errors when Google is Crawling or is it just showing 900 errors because of MOZ BOT but actually things are okay? I know the simple answer is to get the programmer to fix the MOZ BOT issue to know for sure but getting programmers to do things take a lot of time so I'm trying to get a better idea here. Thanks for your input.

Month payment
Hi, Does anyone know if I can just pay to use Moz for one month and not carry on? I'm aware that there is monthly payment options, but it's not clear if we can pay for just a month use (after free trial). Thanks

SEO Help
I am at a loss and believe I have myself so twisted with what to do, with SEO or more specifically ranking, keywords, and backlinks, that I don't even know where to go from here or what to do next. I use one tool, it tells me I have crawl errors, I use another it says I don't. I don't really understand keywords anymore or how they're associated with your page other than simply being on it. I could have swore I got some backlinks, but show none. Sigh. I just need help. Anyone out there down to help a fellow teammate? I have a computer science degree, whoda thunk, but this website stuff and how to optimize it just has me confused. I have all these trial memberships to Moz and Ahrefs, but couldn't tell you how to use them or what exactly they'll do for me.

A lot of duplicate content issues - does Moz understand canonical URL?
Hi, Since I subscribed to Moz my Magento store has given a lot of duplicate content issues. However, I did have a problem with Canonical URL at the time. It has been settled for a couple of weeks by now and although I had 302 redirects before, I configured Magento to 301 today. Since Moz has been crawling and showing duplicate content for exactly the same Magento pages but with endings like store=us, store=aus etc (since I have several store views enabled), I am wondering whether canonical URL does actually help Google to skip these versions of the duplicate pages and does Moz also understand it and will it reduce the amount of duplicate content errors once the 301 redirects and canonical URLs have been properly set for a week or so? Thanks!

Error help for newbie please
Hi, I signed up after seeing the videos on Udemy and YouTube (white board Friday) So I've started the free trial and am looking forward to getting my site ranking higher. I've crawled my site www.sussexchef.com and its come back with the following errors (please see below. 608 I'm sure this information is very important but I have no idea how to fix the 608, I found a robots.txt in my directory and deleted it as I think that maybe the problem? I crawled the site twice by accident so will have to wait till tomorrow to find out? 404 I found it quite hard to find the broken links at first but once I realized all the information I needed was in the table I think I got them all. did I miss a tutorial or am I just a little out of my depth here? 503 I have no idea how to fix these, I can click the links and it takes my to that page or file. so how can it be the server down? Or is this because they are links to PDF's? should i convert them to jpegs and give them meta data? I'd be grateful for any help anyone has to offer as I'm keen to learn how to promote my site better. More problems with Moz - Monthly Reporting
Hello All, I may be missing something, but I only want to create monthly reports for my clients from this system. A week in SEO is a terrifying rollercoaster, but any I digress. Currently, i'm adding clients to the system, setting up Analytics, Twitter, Google+, keywords etc. I then go to the custom reports menu as I want to build my report now and schedule it to run at the end of the month, however, because a month has not yet passed, I can only create weekly report segments. This means that I have to add a client to your system and then come back a month later to build a report, this is silly, am I using this wrong or is this not right? I don't care if any data is available, I just want to create the report so I don't have to do it later ideally.

Moz's official stance on Subdomain vs Subfolder - does it need updating?
Hi, I am drawing your attention to Moz's Domain basics here: http://moz.com/learn/seo/domain It reads: "Since search engines keep different metrics for domains than they do subdomains, it is recommended that webmasters place link-worthy content like blogs in subfolders rather than subdomains. (i.e. www.example.com/blog/ rather than blog.example.com) The notable exceptions to this are language-specific websites. (i.e., en.example.com for the English version of the website)." I am wondering if this is still Moz's current recommendation on the subfolders vs subdomains debate, given that the above (sort of) implies that SE's may not combine ranking factors to the domain as a whole if subdomains are used - which (sort of) contradicts Matt Cutts last video on the matter ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MswMYk05tk ) which implies that this is not the case and there is so little difference that their recommendation is to use whatever is easiest. It would also seem to me that if you were looking through the eyes of Google, it would be silly to treat them differently if there were no difference at all other than subdomain vs subfolder as one of the main reasons a user would use a sud-domain is a technical on for which it would not make sense for Google to treat differently in terms of its algorithm. I notice that in terms of Moz, while most of the site uses subfolders, you do have http://devblog.moz.com/ - and I was wondering if this is due to a technical reason or conscious decision, as it would seem to me that the content within this section is indeed linkworthy (as it has external links pointing to it from external sources), therefore it would seem to not be following the initial advice that is posted in Moz's basics on domains. Therefore I am assuming it is due to a technical reason - or that Moz's adive is out of date with current Moz thinking, and is indeed in line with Matt C in that it doesn't matter. Cheers
