Furniture company with 1 website or a few different ones?
-
Hello everyone.
We are a furniture company, selling sofas, mattress, outdoor furniture, many BBQ's in the future - Separate things, but all related in a way.
I was thinking it would make us look like an 'authority' to have a separate website for everything and be more specialised and also look more specialised.
What would be better for SEO??
Also (sneeking in a second question!), I have around 50 sofa designs - is it ok if the Meta description is the same for each one or should I change a word or 2 around?
Many thanks!!

Hi Tamara,
Thanks for the clarification. There are special considerations when a business is a brick-and-mortar concern, but the conclusion is pretty much the same in most cases: the single site approach is simply better most of the time, enabling you to amass a great deal of authority in one place rather than having it spread thin over multiple places. You've asked a smart question!

Hi Miriam,
it will be mostly online, operating out of the 1 warehouse that is not available for customer browsing, just pick up after placing an order online.
Thanks,
Tamara

I would use one website, because it would be easier to market one website instead of 50 websites. Could you imagine managing 50 FB pages and having all of them be original content? I don't think sooo...
Having one website means that you can direct all of your efforts to it instead of spreading yourself too thin.

Hi Tamara,
Is this a virtual business or a local one with physical locations and in-person contact with customers?
-
When you look at everything you have to do to take care of one site, I think you will come to the conclusion that one site is all you can handle. It's also all you likely need. How the site is designed will make life easier or harder.
I would definitely try to make each meta description as unique as possible. Think about it this way, it's your elevator pitch. Not everyone reads them, but those who do will decide if your page is better for them than other results. Minimal effort generally results in minimal success.
For everything else, I would suggest starting here.
I know quite a few small business owners. If you're going to do this yourself, put as much thought into your online strategy as you do into your showroom. If it fails, at least you can't blame a lack of thought.

About DA of the Website
Hi There, I would like to know why one of my website - https://patnalocalguide.com Domain Authority is not improving. It is not going up and down but it is maintaining its score between 10 since last 5 months. Not going above 10 or below. Why is it so? I'm conitnuously working on creating backlinks for the website and the DR score on Ahref improving but the DA is not. What steps to follow to increase DA? How to find out whats going wrong with our present strategy?

Different ways to write the same tyre dimension
Hello fellow MOZers, Im having a bit of problem of targeting all the different ways a user could type in their tyre size to google, and what we should put in our meta titles. For instance, We have a page called "205/55 R16" Which seems to be the most used and competitive in SERPs. But this could be written in a number of ways "205/55 R 16" and "205/55R16" I expected all these different ways of writing a tyre dimension to give you the same results in google which isnt the case, We rank in very different positions for these 3 searches. Google also sometimes corrects you sometimes for example "205/55 R 16" google might decide that you meant "205/55 R16" and rather than the usual (Did you mean:....) it shows you results for what google thinks is the right way (205/55 R16) We want to target these 3 ways of writing a tyre size not just the most common. Sooo, my question is how should we be doing our meta titles, would (205/55 R16 | 205/55R16 Tyres - Longstone Tyres) be classed as keyword stuffing? and if so how do we go for the term"205/55R16", using s? and would that be classed as stuffing? I mentioned 3 ways to write tyre dimensions, but in realty there are many more. See i would've thought google reads the numbers and ignores other characters in between when it comes to all types of dimensions and sized of things, but this doesnt seem to be the case. Any thoughts and advice on this would be massively helpful, Thankyou

One domain - Multiple servers
Can I have the root domain pointing to one server and other URLs on the domain pointing to another server without redirecting, domain masking or HTML masking? Dealing with an old site that is a mess. I want to avoid migrating the old website to the new environment. I want to work on a page by page and section by section basis, and whatever gets ready to go live I will release on the new server while keeping all other pages untouched and live on the old server. What are your recommendations?

Would you redirect Website A to Website B, when Website B is in the middle of a HTTP=>HTTPS migration?
Hey guys, I'm curious on your thoughts around this scenario... Website A: 35,000 monthly pageviews 1,000 pages 375 root linking domains currently HTTPS focused on one topic weak rankings for competitive keywords Website B: 3M monthly pageviews 32,500 pages 3,500 root linking domains started HTTP to HTTPS migration 1 week ago. 1/3 of pages indexed as HTTPS. focused on many topics strong rankings for competitive keywords Requirement: I want to have a reliable read on how Website A's keyword rankings change after redirecting it's pages to Website A. This post-migration analysis will be used as a basis to assess the risk of redirecting another website we own that is similar to Website A into Website B. My question: Would you wait until most of the pages on Website B are indexed as HTTPS before doing a 301 of Website A to Website B? Please back up your answer with reasons why or why not 🙂

A new website issue
Hello everybody,
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | mtmaster
I have started a new website 22 days ago at the beginning of this month and i have long articles. I think this should make the site appear in search results for long tail keywords even if they are not very relevant but as you can see in the attached image from my webmaster tools the impression count has suddenly increased to 100 then significantly decreased again. Even when i cancel "filter" option. Is this normal for a 3 weeks old website? or there is something i have to check? thanks. cLMa04l.jpg0
