Directory Listings with anchor text = Should we just Delete them all?
-
Hi Dr Moz'ers
So our ex-contracted SEO "experts" have a enlisted our website to 40 odd directories with the same key word and copy.
Is it best to just delete them all to avoid a possible negative SEO/Google outcome?
Cheers

Exactly as Anirban says. We're seeing a lot of directory SEO questions lately, and it's worrying. Both the exact anchor text and the fact that directory links are more often than not junk is why you should remove them.
If they were directories that were HIGHLY relevant to your business and frequented by people looking for your type of services, they might be fine. For instance, if you found a directory listing gardeners, plumbers, electricians and builders in Los Angeles and you happen to be a gardener in Los Angeles, there is some sense here.
However, the vast majority of directory submissions we see are made-for-SEO and should be removed ASAP.

I suggest you delete them not because of same anchor text, but because of directory links which is of low quality and it may harm your site.

Citation/Business Directory Question...
A company I work for has two numbers... one for the std call centre and one for tracking SEO. Now, if local citation/business directory listings have the same address but different numbers, will this affect local/other SEO results? Any help is greatly appreciated! 🙂

How Can Google tell, if a anchor text is exact match
So, I was thinking to myself today. Couldn't Google say everything is an exact match anchor text in reality? Such as, Hyundai in Boston, Or cars in boston? I'm just concerned, that's all. Thanks for your help.

Does title text of homepage effect ranking of sub pages?
Question is pretty much summed up in the title. I realize that title text on a specific page can effect the ranking of that page. But what I'm getting a feeling of lately is that google uses the title text of your homepage to effect the ranking of the site on a whole. Thoughts?

Should I Remove My Articles From Article Directories?
I have been submitting articles to directories for about 3 years. With the Panda update, it seems that these directories are now obsolete. So, if there is no link value from these articles: 1) should I remove these articles (at east the better ones) and place them on my site/blog? 2) If not, would there be any benefit at pointing some bookmarks at these old links to maybe get some juice out of them?

Is Google just taking long time to re-index or did I make a boo boo?...
Couple weeks ago I changed a url on my site from using underscores to using hyphens I setup a 301 redirect and added appropriate canonical to the new page. My site is crawled daily and I've done this on several other pages with good results but this page is just not being indexed right… I see my page #8 with some random title Is there some "interim index" that Google has? It's just bazaar to me, any thoughts? Thanks! - Cliff

A global brand with localised microsites - distinct TLDs or directories by territory?
Hello, Looking to create an export site for a gobal brand and considering the benefits of distinct domains/TLDs vs. directories by territory. I.e. brand.fr vs. brand.com/fr for our French content

brand.ca/fr vs brand.com/ca/fr for our French Canadian content Apple segregate their content by directory but we're not quite Apple to be fair... Directory route would be technically cleaner but I don't wish to discount the SEO benefit of unique TLDs. Any thoughts / considerations / similar experiences? Thanks, Jan0 -
Scrolling Text Old School SEO and hidden index page
We have taken over a site and now find our self looking at the homepage of the site which has hidden scrolling text. A old school way of adding text without leaving loads of paragraphs. I have also removed all links to the index.htm page but somewhere visitors are still coming to this page in there droves. I am considering using a canonical url code but I would rather nip it in the bud. Would love some feedback from some other experts here is the site - http://www.radiatorcentre.com You never stop learning in seo and maybe we can all learn from this example. Thanks
