Question regarding on tracking
-
Hi guys,
We are tshirts printing company.
We have of course a website and we have around 18k monthly visitors.
We get around 75 daily quotes.
We are not E commerce so we dot sale on the website. We can get all the information from Google analytic regarding to how many quotes we got and from where they came from but we can't know how many quotes was converted.
I heard that i can add ref code on the url and then i will see that code in our quotes system and i will know from where that quote arrived.
Another thing that i know i can do is that the system will remember that first url that the visitor enters the site so like that i can know exactly from each url we got the quote and i know that the professional name for this is SESSION.So after all this, the obvious questions here is,
Is everything that im saying here is make sense ?
Can i add SESSION to WordPress site ? And how easy is that/or the cost for that ?
For all of you the expert out there, is this the right way to track everything if you are not eCommerce ?Any help are welcome !!

If I understand your situation correctly, you do not sell directly on the website but give (or get?) quotes instead? Here's a simple solution.
Whenever someone gives (or gets?) a quote, have the site direct them to a "thank you" page. Set that page as a Destination URL goal in Google Analytics (or any similar platform). One arrival at that "thank you" page would be one "conversion." Then, you can track conversions to see what people from what traffic sources tend to "convert" (by giving (or getting?) quotes).
However, it is important that there be no other way to arrive at that "thank you" page except by getting (or giving?) a quote. Block the page from search engines. Have no navigation to that page at all. And so on.
I also think you are asking how to know which "conversions" turn into paying customers? Unless you sell directly on the website and use e-commerce tracking, you will need to use a CMS (customer management system) and integrate it with Google Analytics (or any similar platform). This way, you can track results from the beginning to the end of the "funnel."
I hope that helps -- good luck!

Google Ecommerce Tracking
Hey all, I have GTM set up on a site and I am trying to enable the Ecommerce tracking functionality. My problem is this, I have access to the basket variables all they way through the checkout funnel to the payment page, but they are then lost on the payment completed page. Does anyone know how I can pass the value of the basket across to the payment completed page so I can mark the transaction completed with an actual value present. I cannot post hidden input fields or change the url get variables as the third party system that us used fails. I have thought maybe javascript calls, but not managed to get to work as yet. Can the Google session pass and hold them in the cookies that are set? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Tim

Tracking a Deposit Page Through Google Analytics: Which is a better way?
Good day to all, I do have game download website (Works like Google Play and Steam) and currently working on the deposit page which is payable by fund transfer and Paypal. The thing is I do not have a confirmation page that I can use to track all incoming successful and unsuccessful conversions for this deposit page. My question is, which is better to use for this kind of tracking a goal in Google Analytics? Are we going to use a virtual page or and event tracking method? How can I track users that visit the deposit page that weren't able to do a deposit attempt? Thanks for answering this question. Have a good day ahead.

It's all going well, have crazy egg for heatmapping (which is bringing up some interesting stuff) and I have decided to test some changes. I have setup a variation in optimizely, so i can see what effect the change would have, but i am struggling. I am trying to add the hellobar via crazy egg to a variation (it's just a simple piece of javascript), but when I do I get the following error "Error evaluating variation javascript:

Heyy.. New to the Moz community, first question so here goes! I'm going to be running an email campaign with an e-magazine and I want to know how to track conversions from the email they're sending out so I can monitor success/failure. I've found Google's URL builder:

Tracking homepage visits
Hi Mozzers, I run a website that has some buttons on the homepage. These URL's are not unique as they are accessible from the nav bar at the top of the page. I want to see the conversion rate of the homepage buttons. Is this possible? I currently use Crazy Egg to see how many people are clicking on the buttons but I want more information as I'm sure whether they are converting. Thanks, Karl

How to track full path of website visitors until conversion, not just landing page?
hi, This is my first question in the forums and I'm looking forward to be part of a great SEO community. I was wondering ow to track full path of website visitors until conversion, not just landing page? I've been using Wordpress jetpack site stats for while, which shows great data like keywords used in google, landing page etc. But I would like to have access to the full path for each separate visitors (including their IP address and country is possible) to improve my website and conversions. Example: step 1: Visitor X types "seo" on Google step 2: visitor lands on my homepage step 3: visitor visits to order page and buys Is there such tool available as a Wordpress plugin? Or do I have to use Google analytics for this? thank you for your help, Marc

Need help Tracking PPC vs Organic and respective ROI
So I have a client who uses PPC and Organic SEO to drive traffic. Once a user gets to the site, the most common action is to fill out a form. I have Auto Tagging enabled in Adwords so all PPC clicks have "gclid" in the url. I am also grabbing the Google Cookie and parsing it out to determine if the visitor is PPC or Organic. So I have an if statement in my form code to pass PPC vs organic through the form for tracking purposes: $url = 'http://' . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']; if (false !== strpos($url,'gclid')) { ?> Essentially this is saying: If gclid is in the url, or if the cookie contains PPC
