Just a quick note that you may want to edit out your personal information (phone numbers). This is usually best shared via a PM so it doesn't get into the index and stay there forever. Thanks!

We have been doing Ecommerce Optimization for a couple years now and have worked with many varieties of online shops. Getting their products listed on comparison shopping engines like Nextag, Pricegrabber, Google Product Search, and Bing Merchant Center used to be challenging. We use tools to help us alot. For example Godatafeed while complicated to grasp at first streamline the process of getting your products to the engines. Also, shopping cart platform make a difference in how your online efforts will work out. Since we do SEO and ecommerce work it is a good fit for us since we can do it all in house. If you need some help still just let me know and I will try to help you get off on the right foot. It is all about sharing the experience! Wish you the best.

Well if you are starting off the 1st advice is to of course apart from standard On-page optimization for the main pages to build unique content description for most of your products. The reason is that while you are waiting and working on the main page to rank for the 1st keyword you will start ranking well for long tail keywords that are specific to your product. The advantage of ranking well 1- 5 for a product page is that not only your conversion rate is much higher (specific searches => higher conversion rate) and also more value your inner pages get the more juice it will pass on to the main page. Of course not forgetting the main pages optimization & link building.
Hope it helps.. PM if you need more inside advice... i just did a shop recently so i kind of know a bit

Stop Words and keyword optimization
Ok, so I understand Google doesn't use stopwords (like "a" or "the"). Therefore if I am optimize for a keyword phrase, and say find an opportunity for say: "how to create stuff something" But it actually reads better as (although doesn't sound completely out of place as above) "how to create stuff in something" Which is better for SEO? (ignore usability \ readability in your replies please and assume it reads reasonably either way as that was just an example)

Optimizing internal links or over-optimizing?
For a while I hated the look of the internal links page of Google Web Master Tools account for a certain site. With a total of 120+K pages, the top internal link was the one pointing to "FAQ". With around 1M links. That was due to the fact, on every single page, both the header and the footer where presenting 5 links to the most popular questions. The traffic of those FAQ pages is non-existent, the anchor text is not SEO interesting, and theoretically 1M useless internal links is detrimental for page juice flow. So I removed them. Replacing the anchor with javascript to keep the functionality. I actually left only 1 “pure” link to the FAQ page in the footer (site wide). And overnight, the internal links page of that GWT account disappeared. Blank, no links. Now... Mhhh... I feel like... Ops! Yes I am getting paranoid at the idea the sudden disappearance of 1M internal links was not appreciated by google bot. Anyone had similar experience? Could this be seen by google bot as over-optimizing and be penalized? Did I possibly triggered a manual review of the website removing 1M internal links? I remember Matt Cutts saying adding or removing 1M pages (pages) would trigger a flag at google spam team and lead to a manual review, but 1M internal links? Any idea?

Need help optimizing Windows IIS server for SEO
My web site, www.nhfinehomes.com, is running on IIS7 and I did read a great post on SEOMoz.org regarding how to optimize IIS for SEO in particular, redirecting URL's to lowercase properly. However, I lack the technical skills to do this and am looking for someone who has done this before that can consult on this. Can anyone help or recommend a consultant with actual, IIS SEO experience?

Should I Do On Site Optimization For A Website That Will Get A New Design
Would it be wise for me to start implementing onsite optimization changes on a website, such as the changing urls, adding in keywords in meta tags, meta descriptions, etc if the website is about to get a totally new design. For example if I wanted to change the url structure and onsite optimization features would the changes still be on the new website.

E-commerce Optimization
If you're optimizing an e-commerce site where you sell a certain brand of product, can you re-use the product descriptions from that brand's store? For example, if I'm selling Nike's, can I use the product descriptions and info from the Nike product pages? (This is not what I'm selling). Or should you write your own descriptions. I understand that original content is best, but in an online store situation, how do you write up a product description that's different from the original? It is what it is, right?

Can Search Engines Read "incorrect" urls?
I know that ideally a url should be something of the nature domain.com/topic, but if the url contains additional characters, for example, domain.com/topic?keyword, can the search engines still understand the complete words in the domain? Even though there are additional "incorrect" characters? Or do they stop "reading" once they find odd characters? Thanks!

My urls changed with new CMS now search engines see pages as 302s what do I do?
We recently changed our CMS from php to .NET. The old CMS did not allow for folder structure in urls so every url was www.mydomain/name-of-page. In the new CMS we either have to have .aspx at the end of the url or a /. We opted for the /, but now my page rank is dead and Google webmaster tools says my existing links are now going through an intermediary page. Everything resolves to the right place, but looks like spiders see our new pages as being 302 redirected. Example of what's happening. Old page: www.mydomain/name-of-page New page: www.mydomain/name-of-page/ What should I do? Should I go in and 301 redirect the old pages? Will this get cleared up by itself in time?
