I've had a sudden a increase in crawl issues as of yesterday (like 300 from a steady 10, does anyone else have this issue?
-
the main issue is that it's now indexing both www and http:// - anyone else got this issue or had any changes suddenly on their crawl results?
-
If it makes things easier, based on your settings in that campaign you've always been crawling "all sites," including http://domain.com and http://www.domain.com. If this is due to a redirect, I'd guess that it's due to a redirect having been removed.
Have there been any changes made on that site recently?

Thank you both. I was wondering why it had done this now (the domain is at least 4 years old) but i'm going to do what you say and hope it fixes so thanks again!

My first response was going to be just what Ryan suggested!
I would look into why both are being indexed, which could be as simple as needing to redirect one version to the other, and then change your preferences in GWT & Bing. The issue should sort itself out after that has been taken care of.

Hi Rebecca. Do you have a 301 redirect in place to set your preferred domain? i.e. If someone goes to http:// are they redirected to the www, vice versa, or do both work? If both work you could get crawling on both versions. Ideally you'll pick your preferred setup, add the 301, and also set that same preference within GWT and Bing.

Redirect Chain Issues - Cannot Fix
Hi All My Moz Crawl for my domain brings up 7 redirect chain errors. In each case, the original source is our old website. Strangely, only 7 of the pages show up as having redirect chains, as there are many more examples. We have added redirects from the old pages via the redirection tool in wordpress. The redirects themselves are working as expected. The redirects are from the old website, so the address http://www.oursite.co.uk/example.html to https:www.oursite.co.uk/new-page/ The chain seems to go from the original site and address to https and then onto the new domain. Screenshot link to the Moz Report https://imgur.com/a/eXRSFcD Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated. The hosts says there is nothing wrong with the.htaccess file, but I'm thinking this must be the issue. Many Thanks

Magento Rewrite Issue
Moz's Crawler has thrown up a bunch of crawl issue for my site. The site is a magento based site and I recently updated the themes so some routes may have have become redundant. Moz has identified 289 pages with Temporary Redirect. I thought magento managed the redirects if I set the "Auto-redirect to Base URL" to Yes(301 Moved permanently). But this is enabled on my store and I still get the errors. The only thing I could think of was to add a Robots.txt and handle the redirection of these links from here. But handling redirection for 289 links is no mean task. I was looking for any ideas that could fix this without me manually doing this .

Increase in pages crawled per day
What does it mean when GWT abruptly jump from 15k to 30k pages crawled per day? I am used to see spikes, like 10k average and a couple of time per month 50k pages crawled. But in this case 10 days ago moved from 15k to 30k per day and it's staying there. I know it's a good sign, the crawler is crawling more pages per day, so it's picking up changes more often, but I have no idea of why is doing it, what good signals usually drive google crawler to choose to increase the number of pages crawled per day? Anyone knows?

Why are my URL's changing
My rankings suddenly dropped and when trying to understand why I realized that nearly all images in Google's cached version of my site were missing. In the actual site they appear but in the cached version they don't. I noticed that most of the images had a ?6b5830 at the end of the URL and these were the images that were not showing. I am hoping that I found the reason for the drop in rankings. Maybe since Google cannot see a lot of the content it decided not to rank it as well (particularly since it seems to happen on thousands of pages). This is a cached version of my site I am using the following plugins that might be causing it: Yoasts SEO plugin, W3 total cache. Does anyone know what is causing ?6b5830 to be added to the end of most of my URL's? Could this be the reason for the ranking drop? Thanks in advance!

When Should I Ignore the Error Crawl Report
I have a handful of pages listed in the Error Crawl Report, but the report isn't actually showing anything wrong with these pages. I am double checking the code on the site and also can't find anything. Should I just move on and ignore the Error Crawl Report for these few pages?

Firefox Add-On for crawl frequency??
Hi all, a short one: is there a firefox add-on available, which lets you see the crawl frequency of your page(s)? Would be interesting to see if google bot comes around more lately... There are some statistics in the webmaster tools, but I don't find them very attractive 🙂 I know there is something for Wordpress, but we don't use it... I don't to put up an excel-sheet and check the cache-version for myself. And I would love to see how deep the crawler gets and which sites do not get crawled... So, any existing add-ons or tools that are for free?? 🙂 Thanx....

Image Sitemap Indexing Issue
Hello Folks, I've been running into some strange issues with our XML Sitemaps. The XML Sitemaps won't open on a browser and it throws the following error instead of opening the XML Sitemap. Sample XML Sitemap - www.veer.com/sitemap/images/Sitemap0.xml.gzError - "XML Parsing Error: no element foundLocation: http://www.veer.com/sitemap/images/Sitemap0.xmlLine Number 1, Column 1:"2) Image files are not getting indexed. For instance, the sitemap - www.veer.com/sitemap/images/Sitemap0.xml.gz has 6,000 URLs and 6,000 Images. However, only 3,481 URLs and 25 images are getting indexed. The sitemap formatting seems good, but I can't figure out why Google's de-indexing the images and only 50-60% of the URLs are getting indexed. Thank you for your help!
