The Pros & Cons of Free SEO Reports
-
Are the numerous Free SEO reports that are available around the internet, where I simply put a website address in and wait for the results actually any good?
I tend to stick with Moz & Semrush which takes a little time pulling all the information I need together, but many of our clients are being approached by SEO's waving these free reports at them.
Should I see these reports as valid, or ignore them and only concentrate on Moz.
Any views will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Christina,
We tend to agree with the others - you get what you pay for.
Another important consideration is what you are including in your reports and what metrics are important to you. We have always felt that including analytics data into reporting is crucial for setting benchmarks and being able to see the historical data for trends and analysis in one place is also very useful. Many of the free sites can be an ok solution for identifying optimization ideas and opportunities for improvement but lack substance in benchmarking and comparison tracking with M/M or Y/Y true data.
We like to use Moz, SEM Rush, and Screaming Frog for some of our day to day work and use a combination of Conductor and Adobe SiteCatalyst (Omniture) for reporting.
Hope this helps!

Hi Christina,
Some are better than others, but all tend to be limited in functionality. They are free for a reason. SEMrush is probably the best of the free bunch (personal preference) but there is no substitute for a complete site audit.
Just take what you see when entering your URL as an indicator and use that to dig deeper into the problem. Be careful of those that only look at your homepage, as this can lull you into a false sense of security and not show what is going on with the rest of your site.
Screaming Frog and URL Profiler are my tools of choice these days. They cover everything needed to perform SEO & Content audits.

Hi Christina,
In my experience whatever reports provided by those Free SEO tools is generally correct even I did verified many reports but not all of them is important.
IMO you should concentrate on moz, semrush & screaming frog. These three are enough for SEO report.
Thanks

Url-delimiter vs. SEO
Hi all, Our customer is building a new homepage. Therefore, they use pages, which are generated out of a special module. Like a blog-page out of the blog-module (not only for blogs, also for lightboxes). For that, the programmer is using an url-delimiter for his url-parsing. The url-delimiter is for example a /b/ or /s/. The url would look like this: www.test.ch/de/blog/b/an-article www.test.ch/de/s/management-coaching Does the url-delimiter (/b/ or /s/ in the url) have a negative influence on SEO? Should we remove the /b/ or /s/ for a better seo-performance Thank you in advance for your feedback. Greetings. Samuel

Parked Domains and Local SEO
Hi, I wanted to know what your thoughts were on **Parked Domains **and Local SEO. I came across a company that has a lot of parked domains that were created for different countries. i.e. xxxxx.co.uk, xxxxx.ch, xxxxx.com etc. The content they load are from the main domain xxxxx.com I went to a country specific Google search, for instance google.co.uk and google.ch Searched for the company name and xxxxx.com showed up, not the parked domains that existed for each "country" No analytics exist as the tracking code is on xxxxx.com so I can't see if any specific traffic goes to xxxxx.ch, or other domains. From my understand, parked domains lead to unnecessary duplicate content. So why have them? Simply setup a redirect to xxxxx.com from the parked domain. But are there benefits for Local SEO? Search engines like google will still see the domain as a separate entity if no redirect is in place. If so, I realise content has to be unique..but it raises a question... Why have parked domains at all apart from stopping your competitors or users typing other variance of your URL? What do you guys think?

Order of urls in SEOMoz crawl report
Is there any rhyme or reason to the order of urls in the SEOMoz crawl report, or are the urls just listed in random order?

Why are not nofollowed links counted in On-Page Analysis Report?
When I run the On-Page Analysis on our homepage, the report says the page has 238 **"Internal followed links". ** Why are not nofollowed internal links counted as well? Nofollowed links have been leaking link juice for quite some time now. Martin

"Special pricing" on SEO DVDs?
The section for buying your dvd training lists the price for everyone at $119 and the special price for pro members at - $119. Then the text says that the special price will be shown when the item is added to the cart where the special price is - $119. Am I missing something here?
