Where do I place my blog
-
Sorry but this has probably been discussed earlier, but things change all the time.
Gonna start blogging about my webside.
Where should I place my blog to get most SEO benefits for my main page?
mysite.xx/blog
blog.mysite.xx (on a server with diffrent ip)
An external TDL. -
Thank you!
I will go for domain.xxx/blog

Already answered repeatedly but piping in just to lend even more support to the consensus.

Agreed with previous responses. domain.xx/blog is the way to go. It doesn't necessarily benefit your home page, but it is the least time-consuming to rank and only takes a small percentage of your "link juice" (the same as any other link coming off your home page.
Given blogs are dynamic content and therefore are less impactful than static content on a site, I would place it in a way you think your incoming traffic would find it most easily. This, again, is why we suggest a domain.xx/blog layout, as this allows your incoming traffic to locate it within 1 click.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
You should place it like www.yoursite.com/blog .
The reason is if you place it on a sub-domain, search engine treats it an entirely different site. SO you have to build the sub-domain reputation through back-links. Which is time consuming and need a lot of hard work.
Thanks

The first one, www.mysite.com/blog - is the way to go. Many articles on it, but in short maximizes backlink juice...

Blog hasn't ranked since reposting.
Hey Moz fam! I had a blog that was doing pretty well for the target keyword. Unfortunately, to make a long story short, we had an image in it we weren't supposed to so I unpublished it for a few days while we got that sorted out. Since republishing (with all the same content) it has not gotten a single impression. I inspected the URL and it is totally eligible but nothing in the way of organic traffic. Any ideas on how I can recover?

Best way to handle blogs for a customer with a chain business?
I have a new customer who owns three local gyms. Each one has its own unique url. I intend to do some blogging for him, and would like it to be effective for SEO. Obviously, publishing duplicate content is out, but writing tons of new posts each month is beyond our scope. Would you recommend having one separate blog (with its own url) that is linked from each of the 3 main sites, or would it be better to create a blog on each site and alternate publishing articles on each one, putting a unique intro and link to the main post on the other two?

Same content on site blog as a separate blog. Will unpublishing on one blog evade duplicate content issues?
I just discovered my client was posting the same content as the site I'm working on for him on a separate blog. I don't want to run into duplicate content issues. Both are Wordpress sites. Will it suffice to simply unpublish duplicate entries on the other blog and leave the posts as drafts?

Blog Benefits
I read a very interesting answer by Andy Solo to a previous question in which he replied: "Use your blog to create some Tips & How-To's, optimize those blog entries for the long tail keywords and soon enough your blog will be the gateway into your website. Learn how to target longl-tail keyword searches and how to analyze keyword competition to find the right niche blog posts to create". With my own company site, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk which has a long-standing blog attached, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/blog I always felt that the blog content greatly aided our top positions in Google.co.uk. However, over the last 12 months we have slipped right down page one and I wondered if the blog is still helping our site or if the emphasis/value has switched and Google is looking at a lot of other factors where we score badly? Is this something I should b concerned about? I get about 6 posts per page with unique titles - however the title per page is not unique. Is this important?

Blogging Software Compatible with asp.net server?
I’m in the works of setting up a company blog right now but I’m struggling to find a great blogging software (preferably free). I’d like to keep the blog in a folder, so energyacuity.com/blog, but I’ve been told I need to find a blogging service that is compatible with asp.net so we can download it (?) to our server…meaning wordpress is out of the question. Does anyone have any recommendations?
