Can you help me find out why these competitors are outranking?
-
I have been compiling metrics comparing this site (http://brightandclearpools.com) with two competitors (http://www.barracudapoolservice.com/ and http://peoria-pool-service.com). Nothing is really screaming out to me why they are outranking Bright and Clear Pools. BCP has
- higher page and domain authority
- stronger citation profiles
- more customer reviews
- more content
- better site/on-page optimization
This is for
- organic rankings,
- keyword phrase 'pool service Peoria',
- I am using the Peoria geomodifier in an unpersonalized search.
Although the client would be using both the keyword phrase with geomodifier 'pool service Peoria' while using a device in the Peoria area. An attachment for user metrics are in the response below.
Is there something I am completely overlooking? Your feedback will be so helpful. Thank you in advance for taking the time to help me look into this!

My pleasure, Ryan, and good luck with the work ahead!

Hello Miriam,
Thank you for taking time out of your day to help me look into the issue. I see the issues you mentioned. I agree this is a great place to start.
I'll begin looking through the site and creating more unique content, and see how that might influence rankings. Thanks again.
-
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for the clarification. While the site is very appealing visually and I can see the work that has gone into it, I believe you have a duplicate content issue going on. For example, I cut and pasted this text from your Carefree Systems page, "An ionized pool is one of the greatest pleasures you will experience. Once" and it is coming up on multiple websites. Check this out:
Let's try another. From your Ionization page text, "pool vacuums first came out. Today you probably won’t"
So, this would be my first top priority with the site. Discover all duplicate content and write fresh, unique content for the pages. I also noticed that some pages have very little text on them. It's worth it to take the time to really write out the very best, most complete and engaging content you can for every single page you publish on the website.
I cannot say what percentage of lower rankings than competitors may be being caused by duplicate content, but it certainly is a red flag. Hope this insight is helpful as a place to start.

Thanks Josh! I attached the user metrics to the response above.
I don't have access to any paid software besides Moz Pro. To test I am using Moz OSE to view link profiles, and reviewing SERP's and competitor sites manually.

Forgive me for being sparse on the details. I appreciate the help! This is for
- organic rankings,
- keyword phrase 'pool service Peoria',
- I am using the Peoria geomodifier in an unpersonalized search.
Although the client would be using both the keyword phrase with geomodifier 'pool service Peoria' while using a device in the Peoria area.
User Metrics attached. Thanks again!

Hi Ryan,
I'll be happy to take a look at this with you. Would you be able to answer a couple of questions please?
-
What keyword phrase are you wondering about? Is it 'pool cleaning', 'pool service'?
-
Are you asking about local pack rankings or organic rankings?
-
Are you adding a geomodifier (like Peoria) to your search term? If so, what is it?
-
Or, are you not adding a geomodifier, but are simply searching from your device based in Peoria (or some other city)?
These details will help clarify this for the community. Thanks!

Page options under title tag: Can we set these?
Hi all, Under many title tags, you see a list of sub-pages that Google suggests. So, if you search for Amazon, for example, it'll show you 6 options: Full Shop Directory - Try Prime Books - CDs & Vinyl Your account - Today's deals Can you dictate these choices with markup? Cheers, Rhys

How can I submit Baidu business listings if I live outside of China?
A client of our wants to manage business listings for three locations in China. We wanted to submit to Baidu but from what I've learned this is highly regulated (you live in China, pay a fee and call them to confirm). This is the only article I could find about submitting to Baidu: http://www.nanjingmarketinggroup.com/blog/baidu/how-can-baidu-maps-help-my-business Are there any conduit or 3rd party services available that can handle this? Thanks

Help with Google+ business name rules
I'm marketing a franchise gym business that has multiple locations within the same city. For the business name, I used to have it set as "Business Name" + City + Tagline. For example: "Ultimate Workout South Calgary Gym and Bootcamps". and "Ultimate Workout North Calgary Gym and Bootcamps". To comply with the google business naming rules I've updated all the listing to just business name. The problem is, now the local search results for my gym locations are confusing. Half the address is cut off in the results, the city is not displayed at all. And sometimes results from a neighbouring city are shown. Anyone have an idea on how to implement a strategy where people at a quick glance understand which location is best for them?

Help hiring someone
We are a medium sized cleaning service in the Baltimore area and really need help with our website and organic listings. We used to be on googles 1st page before penguin came around and it killed our listing. We have survived for the last few years because of our good reputation and referrals. We want to grow now but have been finding it VERY difficult to hire a SEO company/person. There are so many scammers out there and the only companies I can find REAL reviews on are in the 10k or more range. I have been reading here and elsewhere trying to learn SEO myself a bit, but finding it a bit overwhelming. Any advice, or could anyone recommend an honest SEO firm that a mid sized company can afford. Thank you in advanced

How do I find associations between two businesses?
Google seems to have associated two business that share the same location (with added suite numbers) and I'm not sure how to break the association. The puzzling thing I discovered the other day is when I do a brand search in Google maps it populates this other business as seen here: (https://www.google.com/maps/search/tatt-away/@27.184467,-81.4366649,8z/data=!3m1!4b1) We have multiple locations in Florida I know this other business and it's hosted on the same VPS as well. My question is how to I find the correlation and break it?

Google+ Company Verification Help
I am in a huge Google+ pickle. Backstory: Client's past marketing manager set up a Google+ Company Page with their old work email as the username - that marketing manager is now gone Client also moved into a new unit within their building, therefor keeping the same address but a different suite # Client's President (my point of contact) created a new (unverified) Google+ Company Page for the new address & suite # If I verify the correct Google+ Company Page, does this overwrite the old one with the incorrect suite #? Or will I still need to dig up their old company page login to transfer ownership? Also, does anyone have any helpful beginner articles on setting up Google+ Company Pages for businesses with multiple locations? Thanks!

Help with Google Places, local listings & Google+ please!
Hi all, I work for enterprise app development & mobile consultancy, Mubaloo. I recently asked a question around getting better rankings for London-based search results. One answer was to set up a local listing for Mubaloo's London office. I thought I had done by setting up our London office up on Places for Business - is this the same as a local listing? In addition to this, I can't connect our existing Google+ page to our local Mubaloo Bristol & London listings as Google has created separate pages for each! Is anyone else having this issue? Can it be resolved?

How is a competitor franchise ranking all for all 3 Local results with unclaimed G+ pages in a search for the national corporation?
My company is an individual franchise of a national corporation - every franchise is operates as [National Corporate Brand Name] + a chosen descriptor such as "Premiere" or the names of the owners such as "Smith Jones". A logged-out Google search for just the national brand name returns the corporate website first, followed by the website of a competing local franchise and 3 Local listings for their offices. These listings are all unclaimed and unverified on Google+ and have no reviews or posts. The corporate Twitter is next, followed by my franchise's website. The corporate Facebook is the last result on the page. How can this competing franchise rank for all 3 Local listings with unclaimed pages? My company operates several more offices than the competitor in the same area and I regularly post to their G+ pages which I verified several months ago. Is it because the competitor's website just holds significantly more weight in Google than our own? A search for the brand name + the town where our offices are in does usually return our Local listing pages, but that limits our reach to those specific towns. Anyone have any insight on this?
