A keyword my site ranks on has recently dropped from no 2 to 51+ after weeks ranking high.
-
Any ideas? The full SERP analysis still puts it at no 2 so I'm quite confused
-
Yes, it's very much possible. either cached result or it's checking something different. But it happens
-
Thanks - checked semrush and moz tracker and they're both no.2 and the search result itself is fine. Could Mozpro have had an off day?
-
It's not in Google results I am seeing the drop, but Mozpro tools. Thanks.

Might be useful if we could have the search term and the site in question?
That way a few different people on here can search for it and see what position you are appearing for them. The search results will vary on loads of different factors, including location of the searcher.
It may be that if you have been searching for that term allot (to see where you place) but don't actually click your website that Google thinks that result is not relevant to you, and therefore displays it further down the results.
Have you tried searching for the term in a 'Private' browser, without any Cookies/Caching going on?
-
try different tools - semrush or any other. Also simply moz rank tracker.

Hi thanks for getting back to me,
Moz Pro tool is saying +51, google says no 2
It's national only the misreport from Moz is coming in on, we're ranking 1 on the local areas I track for the same keyword.
Never do black/grey hat - we've a great product and are building links organically.
Thanks for your help

Hi there.
So, tools are saying one thing, but actually googling gives you another? I'd look into cache and history related stuff in your browser. Also it might be location biased.
Go into incognito mode, try do a search. See what comes up. Also, tool you are using might have cached information - try couple different tools, see what results you get there. Sometimes it also can be localized bug, and it shows in browser that keyword is not ranking at all, but it actually is. Try from different computers, different browsers. And just wait couple days - see if it comes back up.
P.S. Have you done any black/grey hat recently?

Is there a tool that can rank multiple results for a single keyword?
Hi all, I have searched the web for a tool that can tell me if more than 1 landing page is ranking for a single keyword. I have noticed sometimes that a single keyword query can trigger up to 3 landing pages within the 1st SERP. I found an old bookmarklet from Lunametrics that might do the trick using Search Console data, but the link is no longer working. Any other pointers, or can Moz do this as well? Thanks!

Keyword rankings and main company tagline not matching
I have a question about keywords rankings and on page keywords. I don't rank very well for the keyword "Nutcracker". But, my tag line is "Your one stop Nutcracker and Ballet Gifts source". One of my most important keywords is "Nutcrackers" (see the s 😉 ) and I hot hit really hard in my rankings with the google algorithm update. Almost a 30 position difference from one day to the next. Am I shooting myself in the foot by having Nutcracker being in the forefront, even though my chances of ranking for that are very low as there is high competition with more actual "The Nutcracker" related content. I do have the word "nutcrackers" on my home page...but all of a sudden I feel like i'm wasting space, or I should have made the tagline "Your one stop Nutcrackers and Ballet Gifts source". It just doesn't sound as good. I just recently dove headfirst into SEO and moz, so I consider myself a noob, but I learn quite quickly. Thank you for your help! 2 SEO questions
Hello everyone 🙂 I have two questions for all you fine seo people this morning... 1 - Is there a website that I could go to to make sure that I do not have duplicate content floating around on the web that I am not aware of? Sometimes people take information from my site and post it as their own and I want to make sure that google does not ping me for it. 2 - Does anyone know how I can report a spam site to google? I have filled out the reports many times over the past year and posted it in the webmaster discussion forum and it is still up there 🙂 I sent one email to bing and the next day they contacted me with a thank you email and indicated that I was 100% correct and they removed the site from their index. Thank you all!!!!

My 2 Target Keywords Rank In Top 10 But Don't Show Up...?
Hi, My 2 target keywords definitely rank in the top 10 in the USA version of Google but they dont show up in SEOMOZ rank checker...I started using SEOMOZ abour a week or so ago and in 2 consecutaive ranking checks they haven't shown up... Market Samurai says they're 4 and 8 respectively, I can see them in the top 10 of Google and various USA proxies show they're in the top 10... Is there a glitch with SEOMOZ or am I doing something wrong? Thanks, James
