Best practices on campaign setup for a microsite... first timer here (be gentle).
-
if I was to create a microsite, or a landing page, would I create a new campaign to only analyze this page? If I want to report on the effectiveness of SEO on a series of landing pages within a campaign, or a microsite, how would I do this? I cannot seem to create a campaign that only targets several identified pages... this one is baffling me.
Help?

Hi Ken! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
In the example that you've provided here, I will elaborate on how our campaign structure works in regards to URLs:
Each of these could be created as separate campaigns and if you click the "Exclude subdomains to restrict this campaign to the domain you entered".
Subsequently, if you had any subfolders beyond the last slash in your URL, that would be included in that campaign data as well.
For example:
Campaign A is setup for http://www.yoursite.com/product1 and you've clicked the "exclude subdomains" checkbox. This would include data for this site structure, as an example:
http://www.yoursite.com/product1
http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder1/examplefolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc)
http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder2
http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder2/examplefolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc)
so and so forth...While Campaign B is setup for http://www.yoursite.com/product2 and you've clicked the "exclude subdomains" checkbox. This would include data for this site structure, as an example:
http://www.yoursite.com/product2
http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder1/examplefolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc)
http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder2
http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder2/examplefolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc)
so and so forth...And Campaign C could be: http://www.yoursite.com/product3
http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder1/examplefolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc)
http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder2
http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder2/examplefolder1
http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc)
so and so forth...It's also important to note that if your subfolders exist on the "www" version of your site, you must base the campaign on the "www" URL or else your data won't show up for those subfolders.
I hope this helps explain this a little further but please let me know if there's anything more I can clarify!

Thanks again for the quick response! Perhaps this will help explain what I am trying to do...
I have 5 pages I would like to optimize:
http://www.yoursite.com/product1
http://www.yoursite.com/product2
http://www.yoursite.com/product3
http://www.yoursite.com/product4
http://www.yoursite.com/product5Because there is no subdomain, or any URL folder that I can hook into (other than the root), I am unsure how to create a campaign around those 5 pages.
Do I need to re-do the page aliases to group them?

Hi again!
In the same screenshot that I provided in my previous response: http://screencast.com/t/RDOJAu8ykW you would set the url in the top field to the specific section of the site you're interested in targeting your campaign for and then click the "Advanced" link and then click the checkbox next to "Exclude subdomains to restrict this campaign to the domain you entered".
-
Thanks!
I get the concept, but my question is really around a certain section of our website, or perhaps a microsite.
In the example of a section of the site, we may have a suite of products that I would like to optimize. How do I segregate just those pages into a campaign? Or is there another methodology?
Thanks again,
-
Hi there - thanks for writing in! Kristina from Moz's Help Team here.
Campaigns are site-specific (meaning you can't track multiple sites within a single campaign) and within the Campaign Settings that you set when you initially set-up the campaign, you can choose to track all pages within the entire root-domain of a site, or restrict it to only pull in data for a particular subdomain.
Here's a screenshot of the campaign setup section where you would set these settings upon the creation of your campaign: http://screencast.com/t/RDOJAu8ykW
I hope this helps answer your question! If not, or if you're needing further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team anytime by emailing help@moz.com!
Have a great day,
- Kristina

Moz campaign for a subdomain with no home page
Hello all, I'm trying to setup a campaign in Moz for one of our subdomains that we use for marketing landing pages. Unfortunately there really is no home/landing page for the subdomain so when I enter it into the campaign settings it says the site isn't accessible. Is there anyway for me to add this? I tried entering the subdomain with a star, e.g. pages.mydomain.com but it would not accept it. Any ideas? Thanks!

What day of the week should I set my campaigns up on?
I am new to doing SEO, and am not an SEO professional. I'm just taking a DIY approach to learning about and doing my own SEO for some non-profit work and using Moz is my first foray into it. I have a question about which day of the week is best to run my campaigns. I have 5 campaigns running, but I set them up rather haphazardly. So one is running on Saturdays, and the remaining 4 run on Mondays. I am running these campaigns on sites that are not mine. I'm not the webmaster. This is a non-profit, sort of a research effort that seeks to investigate other non-profit websites that all advocate on a particular topic. I'd like to be able to compare the 5 campaigns (e.g., their keyword rankings especially). So I think I should get them all running on the same day. Setting aside that Moz isn't able to let me switch which day they run on, I'm needing advice on how to think about which day of the week I should choose. I haven't been running them for very long and I'm sill a newbie so I don't think it's a huge deal that I'll need to re-setup at least one of the campaigns to get them all on the same day. I've been searching Moz Q & A and google for things like "best day of the week to track SERPs" and "how often to track SERPs" but I'm not getting anything that's helping me think about what's important for choosing a day of the week. I am getting results for other rank trackers out there that let you do more frequent ranking but I'm not quite ready to branch out to other tools, so I really more need some guidance on how to think about which day of the week to choose here in Moz. Blog posts, tutorials, links to related questions, etc on this topic would be awesome, plus your general thoughts and discussion on it would be great, too.

Not able to access Moz pro page and my campaigns
Hi, I could not able to access my campaign pages (pro home page). I received the below issue while logged into my account. This webpage has a redirect loop The webpage at http://moz.com/pro/home has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer. Learn more about this problem. Error code: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS I have checked on both firefox, chrome browsers after cleared the history and cookies. Also checked with different ISP providers. But received the same. Has anyone experienced the same? Plz help.

Can I use wildcards "*" when setting up a new Moz campaign?
Basically I would like the Moz crawler to focus on a specific section of our domain. We do not bucket things via folder groups, so the use of wildcards would be applicable to us. Our URL structure: www.domain.com/some-stuff-here/p12345 Is the example below a valid input to track the above URL structure? www.domain.com//p Thanks.

Can't setup new campaign
Hi everyone, I'm trying to set up a new campaign for a website which has Cloudflare installed. After I enter the campaign name and URL the loading circle comes up and spins for a while, but then it just stays on the same page. No error message is given. I can't get to the next page of the setup campaign form sequence so that I can set up this campaign. Has anyone else had this problem and is there any fix? Thanks in advance
