Why do some reputable publishers have problems with their microdata?
-
I'm using the Google Structured Data Testing Tool to test: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool
NY Times and Women's Health being two good examples.
These two reputable publishers don't seem to have the microdata they've implemented recognized. Are they doing something wrong or is there a problem with the tool?
-
Haven't tried that, but that's not a bad idea, thanks. I assumed I wouldn't hear back.
-
Basically what I mean is if the validator made by Google isn't validating, that would indicate that the code should be cleaned up right?
-
Interesting. Could this mean that the structured data is somehow being blocked. Should the Google Structured Data tool be the gold standard? What does it mean if it can't read the structured data?
-
Sure, this is a typical example: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool#url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.womenshealthmag.com%2Flife%2Fthis-bride-walked-down-the-aisle-with-the-man-who-got-her-fathers-donor-heart
This link won't even get validated in the tool: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/08/10/sports/olympics/gymnastics-parents.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=image&module=photo-spot-regionion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0
This one is using schema.org markup but its not being recognized in the structured data testing tool: http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/olympics/hope-solos-mistake-helps-colombia-tie-usa/ar-BBvsb4J?li=BBnb7Kz
Hell, check SI.com, it doesn't even use RDF, microdata, or JSON. I don't get it.
-
It looks like Women's Health is using RDFa. Why they would be using this instead of JSON-LD or microdata I don't know...
They're not even doing it right according to the google structured data testing tool.

Publishing pages with thin content, update later?
So I have about 285 pages I created with very, very thin content on each. Each is unique, and each serves its own purpose. My question is, do you guys think it is wise to publish all of these at once to just get them out there and update each as we go along? Each page is very laser targeted and I anticipate that a large handful will actually rank soon after publishing. Thanks! Tom

Www. & Non-www versions problem
I currently have both WWW and non-WWW versions of my site live on the web, and I want to be able to have all non-WWW to point to WWW.http://nile-cruises-4u.co.ukhttp://www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk

I want just the WWW version of the site live.I'm wondering the best way to resolve this?Is it normally dealt with in the .htaccess file and I think, looks like this but I'm not sure: <code>RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. RewriteRule ^(.*)$ [http://www.](http://www.)%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L]</code>0 -
How to solve a PHP problem to increase user experience ?
Hi all, I am having a peculiar PHP problem that is affecting the user experience of the site and thus, the SEO. The site is www.atlantiksurf.com and as you can see I use the QTranslate Plugin to manage the 3 different languages: www.atlantiksurf.com (Spanish) www.atlantiksurf.com/en www.atlantiksurf.com/de If you enter the german version: http://www.atlantiksurf.com/de/ , and you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will notice there are a couple of posts that have (Español) in their Titles. This means that this particular post is written in Spanish and should only appear in the Spanish version of the site. Every single post is published on the three versions even when they are language orientated. The result is that when you press that specific Spanish title on the German version, you get nothing but this: http://www.atlantiksurf.com/de/aritz-aranburu-tendra-que-estar-un-mes-sin-competir/ Because obviously there is nothing there. If I go to the wordpress admin panel and search for the post manually, I can solve the problem by erasing all the default code of the different language versions that should not appear. But this is only a manual and non practical solution. The problem, I think, might be in the PHP orders that the Wordpress Theme is receiving from somewhere. I come to all of you SEomoz users as my last chance, because I've been months in discussions with Qtranslate users and php amateurs that cannot solve the issue. I know that this question isn't strictly about SEO, but in a way it is, because it must be affecting the way that Google look at us. Please, some help or orientation would be highly appreciated. rTqZI.png

Duplicate Page Title problems with Product Catalogues (Categories, Subcategories etc.)
Hey guys, I've done a fair bit of Googling and "mozzing" and can't seem to find a definitive solution. In our product catalogue on our site we have multiple ways to access the product for navigation purposes, and SeoMoz is throwing up hundreds of duplicate page title errors which are basically just different ways to get to the same product yet it sees it as a "separate page" and thus duplicating itself. Is this just SeoMoz confusing itself or does Google actually see it this way too? For example, a product might be: www.example.com/region/category/subcategory/ www.example.com/region2/category/subcategory/ www.example.com/region/category/subcategory2/ etc. Is the only solution to have the product ONLY listed in one combination? This kind of kills our ability to have easy refinement for customers browsing the catalogue, i.e: something that falls under the "Gifts for Men" might also be a match for "Father's Day Gifts" or "Gifts for Dad" etc. Any solution or advice is greatly appreciated, cheers 🙂

Soft 404 problem
I have a soft 404 problem in webmaster tools for http://www.musicliveuk.com/about/feed and I'm not sure why. I read on here that if it is a main content page it should be fixed but I don't know how. I've tried to 301 redirect the page to http://www.musicliveuk.com/about/ but the redirect doesn't appear to be working? how do I fix this?

Is it safe to publish 3 paid press releases in a single day?
Is it a safe bet to publish 3 PAID press releases (on PRleap.com) on the same website on the same day, each having about 10 links to different pages of the same website? I mean... will search engines spot something fishy is going out there?

Ranking problems
Hi All My site is live for a year now. I;m getting tons of traffic (alexa 54k) and business are good. The only problem is that I have 0 page rank....I have checked again and again the site;s structure to see if there is anything wrong with the site but everything seems to be ok. Google just added search links to the site (megamoneygames) which looks very nice. For example, none of my competitors have search links but they all have page rank of 4 while I have 0. In addition, for some reason the site's age (days) shows 0 although it is live for a year now... Do you have any idea of what is going on? do I have errors in the site? Thanks
