Hi Tariq!
You'll typically be best off building your Google My Business listings manually, which you can then import to Moz Local for the purposes of building out the rest of your most important citations. You can learn more about syncing Moz Local and Google My Business here: https://moz.com/blog/my-business-console-free-tool
A WP theme isn't really going to ensure higher maps rankings. Yoast's Local SEO plugin for WP (https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/local-seo/) is popular, but I think it oversimplifies the idea that any plugin or theme is going to = high local rankings. There are several hundred factors that contribute to ranking well locally on Google, and your website factors into that in terms of its basic SEO, content and links. Check out this year's Local Search Ranking Factors survey for further details: https://moz.com/local-search-ranking-factors
Hope this helps!

In my experience, the best resources for that type of citation building are MozLocal and/or Whitespark.
In the case of a theme. It's more of how you structure your site than a theme it self. For example, is it mobile responsive? Are you using embedded Google Maps on site? etc. I'd also highly recommend getting additional reviews for the listing as these play a role in semantic search and vis a vis ranking.

Google Places Competitor Category Ranks (Should we copy them?)
Competitors use "Interior designer" as primary category in Google My Business, they rank well in Google Places, across the phrases we target. Currently we use the same category, but "Office refurbishment service" would seem to be more relevant to us. Should we move to "Office refurbishment service" as the Primary category in Google My Business? If we do move would we need to change our citations? And for other keywords should we be influenced and copy the categories used by our competitors?

Removing a duplicate local listing in same city
Hello, I see three locations for a client. Two legitimate which I have ownership of, the third is a duplicate of one of the locations. Ithink it is harming rankings and I want to get rid of it. It is service area business. Things keep changing, but how will I remove it? My client obviously set this up a while ago and it is left with wrong or missing info. When I click on the business under "more listings" on maps there is a chance to "edit it" AND "claim it" but not delete it. When I strart to claim it I go through adding in everything but then I worry I am legitimising the duplicate. How do you get rid of it? Thanks

Which Citation Sources Do You Implicity Trust?
I'm wondering what other SEO's process for selecting citations is. A coworker and I were speaking about the trust level of certain citation sites, and I'd like to get a wider view as well. I haven't really seen this addressed in any other thread or even with a Google search. How do you go about trusting particular citations? Do you have a process? Are there some you stay away from no matter what? I come across some that I feel are a bit sketchy, and try to stay away from those. Although, maybe they are more trustworthy than I give them credit for. Thoughts?

Client Being Outranked by Horrible Websites with No SEO--Help!
Hi guys, We have a client that we are having some issues with. We have done extensive directory work for them, website enhancements, etc. so this is unusual. Hermantown is an extremely small city in MN so companies there normally target Duluth. Our client is hardly ranking locally in Google maps or organically yet their competitors are showing up who have horrible websites, no SEO, and located in the same city—Hermantown yet showing up locally for Duluth searches. We just can’t seem to move up the ladder no matter how hard we try. Here is the company: www.mmtheating.com We are completely at a loss for next steps on how to help this client improve. We’re wondering if there may be a penalty against them for some reason but we always have had very ethical practices. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Report Google Plus Pages for Catergory Stuffing?
Doing some analysis for a clients and it have come to our attention that some of the competitors in this area have 16 to 18 categories, many duplicate and keyword stuffed. I tried to find a specific action to report this to Google, I am aware you can report spam for websites does this apply to the places pages as well? Can you just use the report abuse or report spam links? Anyone have any experience with this type of action with Google? Thanks.

Anybody know of a way to speak directly to a Senior Level Associate in the Google Maps Dept?
I have a client who's Places listing is marked as being permanently closed (has been for three weeks). We were ranking in top spot on local for 2 years +/- and now nothing. Nowhere. Where we do show up, it says permanently closed. (They are not closed). This is the response I received: "After investigating your problem, we've found that it is being caused by a technical issue and our engineers are pursuing a resolution. At this time, they do not have an estimate on when the issue will be resolved, but please know that they are actively working on improving the Google Maps and Google+ Local experience for our users." This was three weeks ago. Here is listing: https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+Davis+Law+Firm,+LLC/@35.0796228,-106.6070767,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x4750748d0724dd7c?hl=en Any suggestions?
