Is anyone else's ranking jumping?

Rankings have been jumping across 3 of our websites since about 24 October. Is anyone seeing similar?
For example ... jumps from position 5 to 20 on one day, then back to 5 for 3 days and then back to 20 for a day
I'm trying to figure out if it's algorithm based or if my rank checker has gone mad. I can't replicate the same results if I search incognito or in a new browser, everything always looks stable in the SERPs if I do the search myself

This often happens during Google algorthim updates, it might have been that Google was rolling out a very large update around this time?

Google has been pushing out quality content algorithm updates the past month or so. We've been jumping all around but mostly positive jumps since we do produce quality content. I don't think anything is wrong, just riding the Google roller coaster. Give the SERPs a few weeks to settle before you make your next move.

It appears Google has been making some changes to their search engine algorithms over the last couple weeks. I use a bunch of different tools including MOZ Pro and have seen many changes in search rankings across multiple sites.
Volatility today October, 31 is about as high as I have seen it. Here is a link to the MozCast which is a volatility tool.

Thank could certainly be the case, as traffic has been relatively stable. I'll ask my rank checker what they think.

This may have something to do with Google's recent change to show results as country-specific by default, rather than whichever TLD you use (.co.uk, .de, .fr etc).
This is causing a few rank checkers to throw off a few wild results. I've seen all the major ones be affected by this.
If you can't recreate the results and traffic is normal, don't worry too much, as the software people will be making fixes soon.
FYI - if you want to get round Google's change and still get specific results from a specific country, you can add:
&gl=us
&gl=uk
&gl=fr etc.To the end of your query string. Replace the country code with whichever you need.

Only one of our main keywords has made a huge jump when checking today, we hit a bit of a low in late September and hit 25 now it's jumped to 15 after little movement (varying between #22 - #28)... Not sure whether this could be algorithm based but certainly caught my attention today!

Any suggestions why I would rank 1 on google and be on 3rd page for bing/yahoo?
Currently the site I'm working on ranks very well on google rankings but then when we cross reference into yahoo and bing we are basically in the graveyard of keywords. (bottom of 3rd page). Why would that be? Any suggestions or things I can do to fix this or troubleshoot it? Here are some things I can think of that might affect this but not sure. 1. our sitemap hasn't been updated in months and URL changes have been made 2. Onsite for yahoo and bing is different from google? 3. Bing is just terrible in general? 4. Inbound links? This one doesn't make sense though unless the search engines rank links in different ways. All jokes aside I would really appreciate any help as currently the few top ranked keywords we have are about 30% of our organic traffic and would have a huge affect on the company if we were able to rank as we should across all platforms. Why does this website rank so well?
We've just taken on a new client who wants to rank well for 'Emergency dentist' related keywords in the London area and they have identified a website that they would like to compete with rankings wise. www.valedental.com I've done a backlink analysis with Open Site explorer and it says that the domain only has 2 inbound links? I've also done a who-is lookup and the domain was only registered in December 2012. Any idea why it is ranking so well for 'emergency dentist' 'emergency dentists' 'emergency dentist london' 'dental emergencies' (when searched for in the london area) thanks in advance for any help Marcus

I can't understand why I am not rank one on SERPS
Hi Guys, I really cannot understand why I am no longer rank 1 on SERPs? My link data shows great weight in comparison to competitors, my on page SEO is good, nice and diverse on the alt text. I know there are a lot of factors that effect SERPs but I believe I have done well but am still not ranking? Have I missed something?

How much is Page Rank really worth?
We are in a position to purchase a domain, made of relevant keywords to our company with a current page ranking of 4 for their home page. However in looking at their analytics and other information they do not do well on significant keywords and have very low site traffic. In fact they do very, very poorly. With their high page ranking would it be relatively easy to conduct a successful SEO campaign on the domain if we were to take it over as our own and attempt to climb in the SERP's? I know Page Rank doesn't mean everything when it comes to your ranking, but 4 is relatively high in our field, so I don't really understand why they do so poorly when it comes to their actual rankings on key words.

Can a google data refresh knock your pages out of the rankings?
I see that around mid November 2013 a handful of my sites pages dropped off of Google completely. It was around the data refreshes in November, and while everyone says it doesn't effect that much I was wondering if anyone knew if it could knock some of my pages out of the rankings for a specific keyword. Note - we had previously held muliple listings for different pages on our site for this particular keyword. Google kept the highest ranking and knocked the lower ones off. Ranking factors for national and local
What SEO impact factors am I missing if I am ranked 1st on Google for a keyword, but not ranked local search? The keyword being setup like {"company industry" "location" }. Its ranked 4th when searched on google and the location is specific to the location in the keyword. I've tried to varify that all of my citations are correct and identical. When I compare my sites Domain Authority and links to its competitors, I should be dominating that search. If you guys have any incite it would be greatly appreciated. MADD DOGG

Has anyone starting using schema.org?
On the 3rd June 2011 Google announced that they are going to start using Schema. Do you think this will change the way search engines find content, from briefly looking at Schema I'm concerned that the proposed tags could just turn into another keyword meta tag and be abused. Have you started using this tags yet and have you noticed a difference?
