Best practice to redirect all 404s?
-
Hey is it best practice to redirect all 404 pages.
For example if the 404 pages had 0 traffic and no links why would you need to redirect that page?
Isn't it best practice just to leave as a 404?
Cheers.

Hey is it best practice to redirect all 404 pages. If the page that was taken down has no inbounds links or a relevant substitute landing page, 404's are fine.
For example if the 404 pages had 0 traffic and no links why would you need to redirect that page? If it has a contextual-relevant landing page, use a 301. Even it has no traffic, it may have organic rankings and/or traffic until it gets dropped from the serps.

Multistore 302 Redirects
I noticed that every link on my site is being flagged up as a 302 temp redirect in Moz. The reason is because we have a multi store and use GeoIP to redirect anyone coming from their respective country. I'm guessing a 302 is the wrong way to do this - can anyone shed advice on the best practice for redirecting customers to geo-specific stores?

SEO Best Practices for Customer Portals
We have a customer portal which is used to display customer's serial numbers, the knowledgebase, support ticketing information and forum. This information is behind a wall as a user must have support in order to view. The question is what are the best practices for SEO with the customer portal? Should we block these sections from bots? Is there a way to take advantage of the number of pages that are within the portal?

How many redirects are too many?
Hello Everyone, I currently have a dynamic site and it is my understanding that switching to a static site would be beneficial. I already have some 301's in place from when my site had a .php extension to the new extension now with ./?... etc. Is it okay to re redirect them? How many redirects are too many? Thank you in advance for suggestions. Have a Fabulous Friday! Sandra

Redirect to url with parameter
I have a wiki (wiki 1) where many of the pages are well index in google. Because of a product change I had to create a new wiki (wiki 2) for the new version of my product. Now that most of my customers are using the new version of my product I like to redirect the user from wiki 1 to wiki 2. An example of a redirect could be from wiki1.website.com/how_to_build_kitchen to wiki2.website.com/how_to_build_kitchen. Because of a technical issue the url I redirect to, needs to have a parameter like "?" so the example will be wiki2.website.com/how_to_build_kitchen? Will the search engines see it as I have two pages with same content?

301 Redirect for 2500 pages
Hi, We have an existing site done in DNN and we recreated it on a new platform (EPiServer) and now we're going live. However, there are 2500+ page URLs from the old site which is not exisitng on the new site. What do you reckon is the best way we can address this? Do we create a 301 redirect individually for each of these pages? These 2500+ pages have a domain authority 34-35 and I think it's best that we retain those. We'll be using the same domain name. Suggestions for ways to approach this issue would be greatly appreciated. I have access to the server and IIS. *Also, how do I create a virtual page in IIS? and redirect it to another URL within the site? Thanks.

Redirects/Forwarding
I have two niche e-commerce sites. One is a PR3 with 3K pages indexed, the other is PR0 with 5K pages indexed. Each site has a blog that has been updated regularly. They both rank well for some fairly competitive keywords and some good links pointing to them. I also have a main site that is PR3. I am thinking of closing down the sites because they are not generating enough revenue, here are my questions: What is the best way to get the most SEO value from these sites? Do I just do a redirect to the main site? Should I keep the sites and use canonical URLs to the main site? Should I keep the domain as a wordpress blog and point links to the main site? What should I do with the blogs? They are on sub-domains, neither has pagerank. Thanks
