Is 10 Keyword Targets for Page Rank too many?
-
My client has selected 10 keywords that they want to rank on the first page of Google for. Is 10 keywords too many to try and rank for? I have heard that you should focus on top 5 keywords instead.

Ryan is spot on, you cant write content for ten different keyword on one page especially if it is your home page. so it is always advisable to target max 3 keywords per page and you will have higher chance of ranking high in SE

The short answer is: it depends. Nobody can really give you an accurate response here without more information about what type of company your client is, how big their website is, how competitive these keywords are, what page your client would like to rank for these keywords, etc.
Generally speaking, any given page should FOCUS on anywhere between one and four of your most valuable keywords. Of course, this page will, ideally, be optimized for dozens of long-tail keywords, but the main focus (in your on-page factors and in your link building efforts) should be on a select few.
Likewise, how many keywords can you run an effective linkbuilding campaign for at one time? And can you find natural ways to accumulate all of those links you'll be needing?
The converse is, if your client has a big website with hundreds of products, focusing on 10 keywords isn't going to quite cut it. You're still going to need to focus on a few "money" keywords, but you're also going to really need to consider the long-tail end of the spectrum. In this case, that might mean really focusing on the technical side of things, as your client will see the biggest impact from those changes that affect dozens of pages. Perhaps you're also going to make a big push for an initiative that will help acquire user generated content for all of your products (reviews!). You need to find ways to be able to scale your solution across hundreds of pages, and that type of approach will be very different from that which you would implement on a smaller site.
Give us a bit of information to work off of:
-
What type of business is your client?
-
How big is their website?
-
What general industry are they in?
-
-
There's no limit to how many keywords you can try to rank for on your site.
However per page its different: targeting 3 keyword phrases per page is ok, 2 per page is better, and 1 per page is best.
The only question is how much time/resources can you devote to creating high quality pages and getting them ranked.

How do you handle a "too many inbound links" notice on your crawl diagnostics report? The url's identified come from our blog....is it reading all the blog post URL's and giving me a notice? Is this ok to leave all the links? Or would anyone recommend no follow tags on all of our blog posts?

So many questions!
Yesterday was a jubilant day! Our website http://www.farnorthkennel.com hit the #2 spot on google for one of our keyword searches "german shepherd puppies in Alaska." We are new at this and it took a lot of work and about 2 months to do this (I realize this is fast). What happened overnight? We have new pages on page 1 towards the bottom, but our homepage fell to around page 4? What would make this happen? I didn't make any updates to the homepage recently. Am I linking to it too much interally? Am I running too many categories? The "too many on pages links" warning comes up all of the time, but I feel like my site is structured user friendly. I am blogging like mad and successfully getting guest blog posts on reputable sites like mad. I have 30,000 Facebook fans.... but will never understand google. Any takers? What happened overnight?

Previously performing page no longer ranking
The best performing page on my website www.danielalexandra.com/personal-training/ has suddenly completely fallen off the google radar and all of my ranking results for keywords have dropped significantly as a result. My domain is only 4/5 months old but was already becoming relatively competitive and generating some interest until this? Any ideas as to why this may have happened?

Google Analytics "Undetermined" Keyword
Google analytics is suddenly showing a new keyword "undetermined". Traffic Sources > Sources > All Traffic with the primary dimension set to Keyword. It's currently our 13th keyword and it is displayed without parentheses around that you see with (not provided) or (not set). Anyone have any idea what this is? Thanks!

Google Analytics Organic Keyword (Not Provided) Alternative Hacks?
I'm sure everyone is sick of the (Not Provided) keywords because I know I am, and Google reckons that you should only see 10% or less (I'm currently around 13% and growing). I am seeking alternatives or hacks that will help display the keywords? If you have a hack to actually display the keywords, please share it your ideas and thoughts? I recently implemented a hack that will show the landing page of the keywords which is better than nothing. But as an eCommerce site, I have about 10% of my transactions which not provided, knowing the keywords would really help. Would love to hear your thoughts?

SEOBook Rank Check Problem
Has anyone who uses SEOBook Rankcheck in Firefox (version 7) had problems with the tool picking up rankings for Bing, but not Google? I've got keywords that I know I rank in the top 10 (and my Raven account confirms it), but when I run a report on Rank Checker, those same words aren't ranking; instead I just get a "-". I've tried restarting my computer and emptying my cookies; but no luck. Any thoughts?
