How do I outrank Monster and ZipRecruiter in Google for Jobs?
-
My company has recently started using Google for Jobs to post all of it's available positions. Unfortuntely, they also list these same jobs on third party job boards like Monster.com, ZipRecruiter, Lensa, etc.
Some people are wondering why we aren't outranking these third party sites. My explanation has been that those sites are specifically made for job searching and have much better authority with Google, so they are going to always outrank us.
Aside from taking down the third party posts, is there anything we can do to get our jobs higher in the rankings for Google for Jobs?
Very appreciated!

That would be the first step--push it onto HR's plate and have them write new ads and job descriptions. : ) But it's hardly likely that it would be sufficient, anyway, I mean your company may have authority in organic rankings for whatever it is your company does or makes and the likelihood that Google's going to push a page up for what is essentially a barely related topic (the job description) may be overly optimistic on the boss' part.
If you can show that at least the job ad comes up for the job title and company name, at least that might be something they can latch onto.

If it were up to me I would drop our own Google for Jobs and let the recruiter sites do it for us. Unfortunately, I'm not the final decision-maker and despite my recommendations the company continues to push its own job postings.
In my opinion, unless we drastically change the job postings content, we aren't going to outrank the giants.

A company must pick its battles. Is the company's ultimate goal to outrank sites that specialize in recruitment or is the company's goal to recruit the best personnel possible? Why not put your resources toward your core products and services and let third parties do what they do best?

The thing with "Indeed", and it's lesser "ZipRecruiter", is that they're a massive listing directory, they are not however able to keep up in specific job titles. They certainly do not show up in the first several pages of my local web design. Nor accounting, or lawyers, etc.
So with a bit of work, link building, content creation etc! you could certainly outrank them in specific trades, not "Job listings" or anything over the top, but specific to your business/niche more than likely.

Have you marked up your job postings with Structured Data? It might be good to look at if not as it's something that they're taking into account for being shown in the job search widget that comes up in search results from time to time.

Google Rankings Are Dancing What To Do?
I was been ranking on page no.3 for many of my keywords. Suddenly they all dropped to Page No.9& Page no.10. Now 10 days back one of my keyword got back to page no.4 & now suddenly today it went back to page no.9 again. I haven't done any changes to the site. My page speed is less than 4secs. Checked everything & all seems fine. No errors or manual actions notification in Webmaster too. Should i wait for the rankings dance to get over or should i start doing something. Currently i am planning to get fresh pages with good content added to the website for the whole month of July. Suggest me what to do?

Hello, our website (http://www.roguevalleymicro.com/index.php) is not coming up properly on Google search (for example, when you search for Rogue Valley Microdevices on Google). We believe that there is something wrong with the website source code, and Google cannot index it properly. However, your Crawl Test results did not indicate any such problems. Can someone help us with some advice please?

Could this work for Google Reconsideration Request?
One of my websites has received the following message: We've reviewed your site and we still see links to your site that violate our quality guidelines. Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes. We encourage you to make changes to comply with our quality guidelines. Once you've made these changes, please submit your site for reconsideration in Google's search results. If you find unnatural links to your site that you are unable to control or remove, please provide the details in your reconsideration request. I have used LinkResearchTools DTOX to locate unnatural links and remove them. So far I've been able to remove or nofollow 50/350 and that's as far as I can ever go. The rest of the websites either don't respond or don't have any contact information. I added another 300 suspicious websites to my list and I'll try to get the links manually removed. Hopefully I can get 100/650 websites (and a bit more links) removed in total - at most. That is my estimate. I've been thinking to use Google Disavow Tool for the rest and make sure to submit a nicely written report with spreadsheets to Google - when I get to the reconsideration point. What are your thoughts on this?

Google and private networks?
I have one or two competitors (in the UK) in my field who buy expired 1 - 8 year old domains on random subjects (SEO, travel, health you name it) and they are in the printing business and they stick 1 - 2 articles (unrelated to what was on there before) on these and that's it. I think they stick with PA and DA above 30 and most have 10 – 100 links so well used expired domains, hosted in the USA and most have different Ip’s although they now have that many (over 70% of their backlink profile) that some have the same ip. On further investigation none of the blogs have any contact details but it does look like they have been a little smart here and added content to the about us (similar to I use to run xxx but now do xxx) also they have one or two tabs with content on (article length) that is on the same subject they use to do and the titles are all the same content. So basically they are finding expired 1 – 10 year old domains that have only been expired (from what I can see) 6 months max and putting 1 – 2 articles on the home page in relation with print (maybe adding a third on the subject the blog use to cover), add 1 – 3 articles via tabs at the top on subjects the sites use to cover, registering the details via xbybssgcf@whoisprivacyprotect.com and that’s it. They have been ranking via this method for the last couple of years (through all the Google updates) and still do extremely well. Does Google not have any way to combat link networks other than the stupid stuff such as public link networks, it just seems that if you know what you are doing you get away, if your big enough you get away with it but the middle of the ground (mum and pop sites) get F*** over with spam pointing to there site that no spammer would dream of doing anyway?
