Home Page Keyword Retargeting
-
Hi Guys!
I have a question regarding the risk of **re-targeting **your homepage to another **keyword. **
To give a little background: I am working on a clients site that targets a keyword we initially thought during the keyword research phase, would be an appropriate target.
What we found out is that it is not. Everything in analytics points to this keyword not performing well.
We now want to re target the homepage to another keyword target.
My questions are: How risky is it to do this given we have already done a fair amount of link building to the home page with anchor text from the initial keyword target? Will this look suspicious to google? What sort of things should we consider before moving forward with this change?

I would do ppc to test your keywords first, then change your focus.

Title change and textual content/ description change (target keyword change) happens with many websites naturally and there is nothing suspicious about it.
The only challenge here is to convince SE's the homepage is about the new phrase, not the phrase you have been working on, and that involves throwing lot of signals (social, content, links, etc) that would resonate this change. The signals for new phrases probably would need to overtake the old phrase ones to be effective - but this doesn't have to be if the competition is not very high.

Home Page optimising for Office furniture online
Hi I have a full page for office-furniture-online. With a fair bit of text on it! We use visual composer for this on wordpress - but we can't get a rank for it I wondered whether as it is our key term - whether we should focus on the home page for this - but the issue we have here it the amount of text we can add to the home page without it looking silly - could we have a slide in side tab with information on or is this frowned upon?

More Singular KW Targeted Landing Pages vs. Less Multiple KW Targeted Landing Pages
So my question is... I have a adopted a site which currently ranks quite well for some industry competitive keywords with a number of poor quality landing pages which specifically target a singular keyword. I am wondering if its worth merging some of these pages together into one authoritative, better quality landing page targeting multiple keywords (as the intent for some of these keywords are largely the same). What i don't want to do is jeopardise the existing rankings in doing so. The alternative option would just be to improve the content on the existing landing pages without merging. What are peoples thoughts on this? Are there any positive case studies out there where merging has had a positive effect? Any help would be great. Regards,

Home Page Text Placement - In Widget?
My client has a blank homepage that showcases his work in a slideshow. As a result, his homepage will not rank. I've created landing pages and they have started to rank, but he is not a fan of them. He wants to add a widget below the menu, essentially where you have to scroll down to see it (no one will ever see it) with the text/onsite optimization we need to get him to rank. This will leave him with his blank homepage that he likes. My gut reaction is that the text needs to be in the actual page, not a sidebar widget. What do you think? Will this method work?

If Two Internal Pages Rank for a Given Keyword, Are They Competing?
Let's say I'm a house painter working out of offices in Boston and Springfield. When I search for "Boston house painter" or "Massachusetts house painter," both my homepage and my Boston office page come up #8 and #9. That's good, sorta (2 results on first page), but I'd trade that scenario for a single result in the top 3. How likely is it that these two page are competing? If I removed the Boston page, would the homepage rank better? Or should I be happy I have two pages turning up the the first SERP? Any thoughts here appreciated. Thanks!

How is this page ranking?
Hi. A client of mine is being outranked by a competitor whose landing page does not include the keyword within their page content AT ALL. Nor does their URL. Nor do any image alts. And their page title features the keyword in the middle of it, not at the start. Their link profile is not great with directories and the like. They are not socially active.. I am confused! I thought content on a page absolutely had to include the keyword to get ranked for it. Here's the page: www.springsoft.ie, keyword is "water softeners" Any thoughts I would appreciate. Many thanks.Christoffa

Please review page for on page SEO
I'm working on an adult dating site review blog and am hoping to build links to the category pages. It's a wordpress blog so the posts are categorised by topics. However can you tell me if there is enough content on the page for google to identify what the page is about? The problem is that the content of each category pages is pulled from the posts. What I think is needed is some static text on the page 2-300 words that use the keyword. Here's an example of a page targeting the keywords 'online dating'. http://www.top-10-dating-reviews.com/category/online-dating/

[editor's note -- thumbnails on site may not be appropriate for some workplaces] Will the page rank like this if there are a good amount of authorative links or does the page itself need work?0 -

Does anyone know why my Home page isn't visible in search terms?
If I type in my meta description for my homepage in google search or any of my keywords only my inner pages are returned in the results. I have a PR3 on the homepage so I don't think google is blocking my site and all my inner pages seem to show up.
