Rel=author rel=me
-
I am an e-commerce website with a blog, creating content on my website but also guest posting for others. I also have a Google + page.
Do i need to do the rel=author rel=me? does it benefit me?
I am confused on how it works, can someone outline the basics please? i gather i put rel=me in the page that is about me and author on the blog posts i do/gues posts?
Any help much appreciated.

Hi there, thanks for that. How do i connect my individual profile to the company profile on google+?
-
Here is what you will need to do:
a) setup a g+ profile for your individual account
b) Connect that across to your company g+ profile
c) on the individual g+ profile, update the contributor to section to redirect to your blog's root domain
d) From the individual posts, rel=me to the g+ profile URL

I am sorry i just am so confused. Ok i have no author page, i have a blog section and a google + profile. WHat do i do simply?
I noticed on my Google+ page for the business page i do not have a ;contributor' section. Meaning an individual has to do this?
-
Author page is not a necessity. You can use rel=me from individual blog posts as well. Rel=me will connect with your g+ profile.
You are already doing a rel=me to the root domain by using the 'Contributor To' section of your g+. It works behind the scenes.
Now, you need to claim the content by using rel=me at the individual blog post level or at the level of an author page that will in turn get connected with the rel=author tag.
It sounds confusing, but it isn't actually.
Thanks,

So you have to have an author page for this to work, i cannot make rel=me go to just the root blog directory?
-
Here is what you need to do:
a) Create a g+ profile
b) in the 'contributor to' section, link out to the blog for which you write.
c) on the blog post, add a rel=me tag and point back to the g+ profile or, setup an author page on the blog. From the author page, use a rel=me tag and link back to your g+ profile. If you were to setup an author page, each post on your blog will need to link to the author page using rel=author tag.
Cheers,
Rajesh Dhawan

How to regain Facebook Page Authority - For page badly affected with spam users
Case- company Facebook page has more than 10K users and almost 50% are spam. When this happens, edge rank of the page is badly affected (because spam users are not interested in your shared content so they hide you/remove you from feed and of course never engage). Not to mention Facebook released an update end of 2014 where page will have less visibility anyway compared to user updates. Overall the Page updates get very less exposure / impressions Now only solution is to remove this huge no of spam users one by one or by an API. Question - Does removing the spam users regain the authority of the page ? Does that solve the overall issue ? What are the other solution to fix the situation ? Thanks.

Google+ author tags and product descriptions - Can we author tag it to protect it if its custom written?
Hello Google+ experts We run a eCommerce (magento) site with ~140 different products. We manufacture all of our own products and therefore the product descriptions / content is written by us for us, however there are smaller operators that can scrap it, adjust it and use it on similar products. Can we author tag our own custom product descriptions or will goggle not like this? I have read a hand full of blog about author tags v's publisher tags, and most bloggers state that eCommerce product pages should not author tag as content is normally generic product spec information. Our product content is fresh, custom and written by a real author it's similar to a blog post so why can't we tag it to protect it? (The descriptions include a product - Overview / Benefits / Suggested use) If we do Author tag it will Google spank us and damage our SEO or because it fresh and custom advance are SEO?

Should rel=publisher tags (pointing out at Google+ Business page) only go on the homepage?
Hello, I've just read... “Publisher tags should only go on the most significant page of your site, usually the homepage.” Is this correct?

Does Pinterest's javascript removes rel="nofollow" ?
It's late and I might be seeing things disappear...but I noticed something strange with a Pin It button we added in our website: I added a rel="nofollow" to the <a href="">for Pinterest, however when I use the html inspector in IE or Firefox, and inspect the attributes of the link, 'rel=nofollow' is nowhere to be found.</a> <a href="">Did anyone notice this?

Does Pinterest's javascript remove the 'rel' attribute? (looks like it's the case)
How does google treats this? Do they interpret the .js and ignore the 'rel=nofollow'? I hope it's a technical error on my end, otherwise thousands of website owners are being tricked into believing that they added a rel=nofollow, when in fact it's just being removed behind the scene.</a>0 -
Trouble implementing rel=publisher
I am trying to implement rel=publisher but am having some difficulties. Although I have over 1000 fans when I try and verify my page I get a message from Google that "Your page does not have enough followers to be eligible for verification" I have the following code on my pages: <td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl"> <a href="<a class="webkit-html-attribute-value webkit-html-external-link" href="https://plus.google.com/+thelotter/posts" target="_blank">https://plus.google.com/[myname]/posts" id="ctl00_Header_socialCtrl_GooglePlusLinkCtrl_hyperLinkSocial" target="_blank" class="socialIcon googlePlusIcon"></a href="<a></td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl"> What should I be doing differently? What if an employee leaves and removes Rel=Author verification from their Google Plus profile?
What if someone leaves your company and removes your site from their Google Plus profile (under "Contributor To"). Does that kill all the rel=author on the pages written by this former employee? (Should you use the email verification with employees to avoid this scenario? Email verification is a big hassle for us.)

Is it wise for employees to be tied to a company's content with rel=author?
We're an e-commerce company that sells consumer goods. We are launching a blog that will have advice, tips, etc. on topics related to our industry. I'd like for us to implement rel=author on the content. If we rel=author the content to an employee, what are the possible repercussions if that employee leaves the company? I know the markup is pretty new and hasn't been widely implemented, but has anyone dealt with this?

Setting Up Author Tags on Wordpress Blog
Hi, I am trying to set up author tags on my Wordpress blog (http://www.bradkrussell.com.au) so that my author profile shows in Google SERPs. I'm following Yoast's article - http://yoast.com/wordpress-rel-author-rel-me/ - and I did everything up to the "How to allow authors to add rel="me" to links in their bio's" section. Basically, in Wordpress under Appearance -> Menus for the About Me page I set 'link relationship' = author. Then on my Google + page (https://plus.google.com/u/0/110649694696756559049/posts) under the 'Contributor To' section on the About tab I linked back to the About Me page on my blog. Upon checking on Google Australia it appears that this was done correctly - https://www.google.com.au/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=site%3Abradkrussell.com.au. My questions are: Do I need to link back to my About Me page from every post I do? E.g. 'Written by Brad Russell' - linking to About Me. It appears I don't but does it help? Some of the results on Google Australia show 'By Brad Russell' but some don't. I'm just not sure if this is because the site hasn't been reindexed properly yet. What happens if in the future I have multiple authors on my blog? I give them a new username in Wordpress but how do I specify that they are the author of the post? Do I need to create an 'Authors' section on my site? If I then specify an Authors page as link relationship = author, how do I link each post to the necessary author page? I still don't really understand the rel=me tag and how I implement it on Wordpress. I'm not sure how to edit the functions.php and author.php files on Wordpress (ie the second half of Yoast's article). Many thanks!
