Recommendations for Books on Analytics, Ecommerce and Data Manipulation?
-
Having just moved into a position where an Ecommerce site is now a big part of my responsibilities I'm looking to get up to speed on the topic (been a while since I worked on a shop). Site is Magento based. I'd also like any recommended books on broader analytics and using/reporting data.
Obviously finding books on these subjects isn't difficult, I'd just like mozers thoughts on any that are particularly good and more important still relevant ie fairly recently published. Quite broad topics these I know but open to any or all suggestions - however not too worried about covering wider SEO, more 'technical' guide style is what I'm interested in.
Couldn't really find any threads on books in general so should be an interesting topic (I hope!)
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Thanks Tom,
Yep, WA 2.0 is obviously very popular, my only slight concern was it's still pretty pricey and 3 years old now. I know the basics still hold true but had heard from a few people that it was quite heavy on how to's/step by steps, and I know Analytics has evolved a great deal in those 3 years. Any thoughts on how dated or not it is?
Thanks for the quick response.

Hi Steve,
Avinash' Web Analytics 2.0 is by far the best place to start IMO: http://www.amazon.com/Web-Analytics-2-0-Accountability-Centricity/dp/0470529393
Two honorable mentions go to Bryan Eisenberg's A/B Testing http://www.amazon.com/Always-Be-Testing-Complete-Optimizer/dp/0470290633/ref=pd_sim_b_7 and Brian Clifton's Advanced Web Analytics: http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Metrics-Google-Analytics-Edition/dp/0470562315/ref=pd_sim_b_5

UX and/or Conversion Help for Ecommerce
Good Morning, We recently revamped and relaunched our ecommerce website and we believe we have built a great site that is easy to navigate, find what you're looking for, get all details, and purchase. We were hoping to get some of the Moz community to take a look at the site and let us know if you have any suggestions on usability or conversion techniques that we could implement to improve user experience and amount of orders placed. You can view our site here Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks in advance

Tracking a Deposit Page Through Google Analytics: Which is a better way?
Good day to all, I do have game download website (Works like Google Play and Steam) and currently working on the deposit page which is payable by fund transfer and Paypal. The thing is I do not have a confirmation page that I can use to track all incoming successful and unsuccessful conversions for this deposit page. My question is, which is better to use for this kind of tracking a goal in Google Analytics? Are we going to use a virtual page or and event tracking method? How can I track users that visit the deposit page that weren't able to do a deposit attempt? Thanks for answering this question. Have a good day ahead.

Any possibility to track goal completions/conversions at a sub-page (non-landing page) level in Google Analytics?
We’re promoting our sub-page it's http://www.flightcentre.ca/flights/london on our homepage under the slideshow so I need to see how many people went to the homepage, then went to this page, and then converted (enquired or booked.) What I can’t see is how many people did that. I know how to look up how many people landed on that page and then converted, but I need to know how many people navigated there and then converted. Is that possible? I can only see Goal Completions if I look at that page as a landing page, but that only presents a very slim view of the total visits when compared to those pages generally. Any way to check the entire behavior or activities happening through this page i.e. /flights/london?

Hotel Booking Engine Selection
Hi there! There´s a subject that comes to my mind every now and then, something which we always thought as a subject to discuss in a forum like moz´s: Hotel Booking engines, conversion codes, and overall user experience related to them. In these days, we are trying to help one of our clients to select the best booking engine SEO wise, but basically really oriented in measuring conversions and conversions funnels, and with confirmed excellent overall user experience. We are sick and tired on having booking engines which will “magically” change url once we get into the process of booking, this brings enormous doubts for the user who doesn´t really know where the hell is he putting his money (booking) hence, a very bad user experience. Not really sure we like iframes either, as we believe Google will not be able to access any data from the booking process once the iframe appears as we lose all control and also the possibility to handle conversion funnels or reading anything inside this frame. Usually we have also problems “losing” adwords conversion and analytics codes which we have to check periodically getting into the booking engine and making trial acquisitions which are time consuming and boring… then when detected the fault, claim the supplier to re load codes again, as they have being "lost" (once again), probably in some irresponsable update of the booking engine. Some Hotel Booking Engine Brands are “Google Hotel Finder” friendly (partners?), others, on the other hand, are completely ignored by Google and just OTA´s prices are displayed and offered by means of Google Hotel Finder, not showing official hotel rates and not even giving the possibility of making reservations using the “official” website. Adding to this, we usually find naïve programming issues with infinite problems when changing languages, different currencies, trying to go back to your previous selections, no wonder why booking is having his day in this so competitive market. Any good and thoroughly checked suggestions? Thanks in advance! Claudio Heilborn @ MD Marketing Digital Spain

Can someone recommend a guide to getting started with Rich Snippets?
It's a bit tough to find info about getting started with Rich Snippets and how to start associating that information with the website. I'd appreciate some links to guides on how to get started, followed by how to get good at it. Thank You All in advance

Weeding out irrelevant analytical data to see truer conversion rates
Here is the scenario. We have many brick and mortar store locations as well as an ecommerce website. It's hard to get exact, but my estimates seem to be that approximately 1/3 of the visitors to our website are interested only in obtaining information about the brick and mortar store locations and not interested in ecommerce transactions. Of course this kills the conversion rate. We use google analytics and I'd like to somehow be able to quantify with more accuracy what the "real" conversion rate might be. Is there some method to weed out specific pages/traffic (like brick and mortar landing pages) from being taken into account when conv. rate is calculated? The number that matters for conv. rate of course is "visits" and not unique pageviews, so I'm not sure that really would do anything helpful. Any tips?
