5xx Server Errors
-
Hey all,
Recently my site has seen a rise in 5xx errors which have all popped up since the first of the year.
Our company made a big announcement on 1/4 which drove a lot of traffic to the site, which I thought may be a reason for the sudden errors. But the errors have since continued. Also, the crawl from last week showed no errors at all (which I'm sure was a fluke)
Taking a closer look in GA, the pages that are receiving errors have not been visited for months.
Is this a random occurrence or should I consult someone to investigate our server?
Thanks,
Chris -
The crawl is showing that the errors are happening on very specific pages, so it may be a simpler solution like what you're describing.
-
One client I recently worked with had CloudFlare installed and it was causing tons of 500 errors. We removed it and they went away. Like I said see if you can identify specific pages it's happening on and isolate the code that is on those pages only. Good luck!

Thanks for the input, guys.
Looks like the move to make right now is double check code, then if the problem persists, dig into server issues.
-
This could also be something as simple as a bad code on some pages too. look at those old pages and see if there is a template or something associated with these pages that only they share. Might be isolating a script or disabling a plugin.

5xx errors refer to server errors, and can be caused by serious issues with the way your server is configured. I would definitely look investigate it further.

Moz and HubSpot SSL - crawl error?
I'm getting an error message when Moz tries to crawl my site, however when I check in Google Search Console, they return no errors. Our site is hosted on HubSpot. Is Moz still having trouble crawling HubSpot sites that have enabled their SSL? I read an article that this should have been corrected in early 2017, but I'm getting an error.

Why is moz saying I have a 404 error?
I recently asked a question on here about how to fix my 404 error. I figured it out, and now webmaster tools says it's not there any more. This as been confirmed by keeping watch for about a week now. But Moz just crawled my site today and is for some reason showing an error. Am i missing something here or is Moz a little slow sometimes?

Question about Crawl Diagnostics - 4xx (Client Error) report
Hi here, I was wondering if there is a way to find out the originating page where a broken link is found from the 4xx (Client Error) report. I can't find a way to know that, and without that information is very difficult for me to fix any possible 404 related issues on my website. Any thoughts are very welcome! Thank you in advance.

Rogerbot does not catch all existing 4XX Errors
Hi I experienced that Rogerbot after a new Crawl presents me new 4XX Errors, so why doesn't he tell me all at once? I have a small static site and had 9 crawls ago 10 4XX Errors, so I tried to fix them all.

The next crawl Rogerbot fount still 5 Errors so I thought that I did not fix them all... but this happened now many times so that I checked before the latest crawl if I really fixed all the errors 101%. Today, although I really corrected 5 Errors, Rogerbot digs out 2 "new" Errors. So does Rogerbot not catch all the errors that have been on my site many weeks before? Pls see the screenshot how I was chasing the errors 😉 404.png0 -
Why would my site return an error when using Open Site Explorer to crawl it?
I have built several new sites over the last few months for others, but recently built a new one for myself. I have gone through most of the checklists from this site to address on-page SEO, and now I am looking at link building. When using Open Site Explorer, I receive an error saying that no information about the URL is available, even when I add competitor sites. Wondering if this is a common issue and if there is a convenient remedy? thanks!

Dot Net Nuke generating long URL showing up as crawl errors!
Since early July a DotNetNuke site is generating long urls that are showing in campaigns as crawl errors: long url, duplicate content, duplicate page title. URL: http://www.wakefieldpetvet.com/Home/tabid/223/ctl/SendPassword/Default.aspx?returnurl=%2F Is this a problem with DNN or a nuance to be ignored? Can it be controlled? Google webmaster tools shows no crawl errors like this.

After fixing errors can I re-crawl for diagnostics?
As I am fixing errors will the campaign automatically update to show where I have fixed issues?
