Google's view on geolocated results
-
Hello everyone,
I am working on a project so the website is not online at the moment.
My question is about Google's view on geolocated results : on the mainpage of the website, a bloc will be displaying local classifieds according to where the visitor is located.
What will be Google's view on this bloc as it has no location ? A white empty bloc ?
Bonus question : do you have any experience regarding this kind of situation ? How do you best deal with it in your opinion ?
Thanks for your help !
Best Regards,
Raphael

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your quick answer. I'm not sure what process we are going to use for this bloc yet as my developing skills are really poor and we are still in an early phase of the project.
Still, you answered my question ! Thank you.

Hi Raphael,
Basically, if you are only loading in results based on when someone lands on a page, and showing results that are not pre-determined, then you are right, there is nothing really here for Google to do anything with in terms of SEO. However, done right and this shouldn't be a problem and just write some great content for the page that Google can see.
Presumably you will be using an iFrame or similar?
Andy

Dissapeared from Google - Urgent
We are new to the whole SEO thing and could be described as total numpties as we have hidden away from it, scared of what it means and what might happen if we open that can of worms. But after seeing a 25% drop in visitors over a year, and a continued fall, we thought we better try and get our heads around what we need to do to improve our chances on google. Consequently we have signed up to MOZ and are exploring its crawl results and trying to learn and action things. Today we noticed that we have dropped fairly completely from Google for many of our top key words. We are based in Italy, our site is in Italian and we only target Italy. Our homepage is http://www.shoechic,it and two of our top keywords that have dissapeared are: "scarpe sexy" & "Scarpe Pleaser" We would love to hear if anyone can throw some light in why this dramatic change may have taken place and what we can do to address it. Many thanks in advance for anyones help and advice. Philip

Do these items affect Google ranking or Quality Score?
Hi community, After my first crawl of a site that I'm working to improve the SEO on, I find that I have about 500 issues regarding missing Alt Text and Title text for images on my site, as well as about 175 issues with regard to duplicate meta description, missing meta descriptions, and too short/too long meta descriptions. My client is not sure it matters to fix these items and only wants to do so if they have an affect on Google ranking or Quality Score. Does anyone know? Thanks!

Why does Google pick a low priority page on my site?
Hi Guys. One of my pages ranks quite well for "mid year diaries 14-15" on Google. The problem is it's a really specific product page (A4, Hardback, day-to-a-page diary I think). It would be much better for the user to land on our mid-year diaries category, not really deep into the site. Why is Google prioritizing this product page over our general 'mid year diaries' category? Especially when the category would relate to the search more accurately? I work for TOAD diaries and I think our page rank is 10 for this search. Eagerly awaiting some insight 🙂 Thanks in advance everyone! Isaac.

Googlebot indexing URL's with ? queries in them. Is this Panda duplicate content?
I feel like I'm being damaged by Panda because of duplicate content as I have seen the Googlebot on my site indexing hundreds of URL's with ?fsdgsgs strings after the .html. They were beign generated by an add-on filtering module on my store, which I have since turned off. Googlebot is still indexing them hours later. At a loss what to do. Since Panda, I have lost a couple of dozen #1 rankings that I've held for months on end and had one drop over 100 positions.

I've just manually edited all the page titles and meta descriptions on a site, when will this show in Google results?
I've just manually edited all of the page titles, meta descriptions and optimised the copy on a client's site. I submitted this for a new crawl on Google via Webmaster Tools but when I do a Google search the old versions are still showing. Will it still take a few weeks for the new versions to show even though Google has crawled it via Webmaster?

Google Panda This Past Weekend Impact
I understood that Google was implementing a major Panda refresh this past weekend. Did it happen? Anyone notice any impacts? What changed?

Getting Google to provide a different URL in SERP
For one of my client’s sites, I have several keywords that are ranking in the top 5 positions. However, they have a high bounce rate. I believe this is because Google is delivering a different URL than the page we have optimized for the keyword. Any suggestions on ways I can get Google to present our preferred page?

Page title getting cut off in SERPS even though it's under 70 characters?
I re-wrote the page title of a home page for a site I'm working on and made sure it's under 70 characters (68 to be exact) to comply with best practices and make sure it doesn't get cut-off in the SERPS. It's still getting cut-off though and right when it gets to the brand/website name. Does a "-" have anything to do with it? Does that translate to an elipsis? Format: keywords - website/brand.com Can anybody tell me why this would be happening?
