Outreach person different than guest post write
-
Hello,
For a current client of mine, the person doing the outreach (me) and the person who is going to write the guest post (expert) are different people.
Also, the expert doesn't want their real name published. They're going to use their first and middle name instead of first and last.
How do I taylor my outreach and link building to accommodate the above two facts?
BTW: The expert's picture is on the site if that helps, in an "Ask the Expert" menu tab
Thanks
-
Well with Schema you would be telling the Search Engine a bunch of detailed information about you the site and the product. You can use many different ways.
-
Thanks. I know what Schema Markup is, I'd have to study it to do it. What should I be doing with schema markup?
-
Make sure that all of your content pieces include REL="Author" or a simple about the author with a link to her Google Plus Page. Are you familiar with Schema Markup?
-
Because of all of your responses I talked to the client and she's willing to use her real name. Thanks for helping to make that clear.
How do you reference the expert in the outreach? Do I put a link to her "about the author" page in the outreach footer?
-
At our agency we run outreach programs and are very clear who we represent and are very open to the person on the other end and 99% of the time they are fine with the scenario as it's understood that real, clean organic outreach is an immense job that should be handled by experts, which is usually not the client. So that part is OK.
The whole anonymous thing rubs me a bit wrong only because if you are anyone trying to show credibility usually you want your expertise out their as industries look for thought leaders to build communities around. I understand wanting privacy but really..are the Paparazzi gonna show up at your door for the blog post you wrote? I think their privacy is safe all in all.
-
Sorry, I didn't see where you mentioned privacy but that's fair.
-
I get the privacy concerns... as I mentioned, if they've developed this expertise using a pen name or pseudonym, then I have no issue with it. But if their expertise is tied to their real name, and they're going to write under a different name, then that expertise might not be as strong.
-
What if they just want to use a pen name to protect their privacy? Hard to remember with modern life being so exposed and annotated but there are lots of people that prefer to remain anonymous.
So long as the persona is well developed, I wouldn't have a problem with it given the content was high quality.

As someone who receives pitches for guest posts, here are the two distinct reactions that came to mind when I read this:
- It doesn't bother me that someone else is doing the outreach, as long as they're representing things correctly. I've received pitches along the lines of "I'm contacting you on behalf of..." and it doesn't bug me at all.
- It seems really weird that an expert wouldn't use their real name. Expertise is very closely linked with credibility, and I can't help but wonder "what do they have to hide?" The exception here is if this person grained their expertise while doing business or otherwise acting under a pseudonym... it's not that one can't become an expert without their real name, but it's the fact that if they became recognized as an expert using their real name, the shift to using a different name seems funky.

Sharing Blogs on my Personal or Business Google plus Account
Hi i have been using my business G+ account to share my blogs, but have realised that this would have been better using my personal G+ account. Should i now go back through those 50+ blogs and re-share via my personal G+ account eg one every 3 days or should i re-share the G+ business entry? Thanks Ash

Blog posts to G+ and FB?
Hi, I was wondering if we should be taking our blog posts and also putting them on social sites as well such as G+ and FB? If so, does content need to change to avoid a duplicate issue and if so is there a "rule" of sorts in terms of how much to change the content up? I was just wondering since we are already taking the time to put together these "stories" on our blog if our other channels would benefit as well?

How Should I Optimise Feature Images for Google+ Interactive Post Snippets?
Hi there, I'm in the middle of optimising my site to create decent sharing snippets to improve the overall experience and quality for visitors. One thing I've come up against though is trying to balance site design with the requirements of schema.org and Google+ I've recently just altered the layout of my site to now visually display a brief post description to go into the Rich Snippet Google+ creates, but the images Look a little bit shorter than what they could be. I'm curious to how I could perhaps serve a dedicated image for the Google+ snippet (a square cropped version of the large feature image that's given to each post) while avoiding forcing all users to load a second image I don't even really want to show. I'm also in the middle of deciding what content to prefill the post text with, I'm thinking about tagging my own Google+ id and maybe using some post relevant hash tags too. Does that sound like a good idea? Thanks for 95e0ec7c46e6e66c0a966089d7805813

Post Privacy Settings
Facebook says roughly 12% of your friends see your posts. Facebook has privacy settings. Naturally the setting is "public." If you change the setting from public to "Selected List," do you think more of that group of people will get the message? If your public setting has 1,000 friends, and the list contains 200 people, do you think it will generate the post to 12% of the list? Is there anyone interested in testing this? It would make a GREAT blog post! I would certainly read it. If you have any tips to help hit more people on Facebook let me hear it please!

Share This Count Vs Google Analytics - Why the difference?
We use the Share This facebook & twitter widgets on blog posts. Share this auto tags it in Google Analytics so we can see share count with in the analytics interface. Viewing the blog post I see the share counts as a lot higher than google analytics reports. Does anyone know why the count would be different?

Facebook: How do you post to a brand's page, as your own brand page?
Eg, if you are an administrator of "Funco" which has a FB page, how do you post on the wall of "Followerwonk" as "Funco", not your personal FB account?

So I am my coworker have a differing opinion on social networking sites.
One of us says to join one or two, Linkedin being one of them and just work those. The other says to build profiles on multiple pages - everything from Merchant Circle to fastpitch , essentially any and all, and not worry about activity level, just get the link. What are your thoughts? Which approve will result in more effective optimization for clients?

Facebook code used in Huffington Post
I like the call-to-action button that HuffPo uses on its FB button, where with one click, a user on their site can 'Like' their main page on Facebook without actually having to go there (assuming that they're logged in, of course). I'd love to use it on my site but... I'm trying to understand how this works. It seems like it's a custom wrapper, as i'm not seeing the toolset in dev tools (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ etc) Anyone know about this?
