Video Optimization

I'm interested in marking up videos on a site, so we can get those videos ranking on Google as rich snippets.
Anyway, i've been looking at Googles support on this - http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2413309&topic=1088474&ctx=topic
And they recommend scheme.org markup.
I looked at Rands whiteboard friday videos - and it seems based on what i seen from the source code - that there is no scheme.org markup - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/fixing-the-broken-culture-of-seo-metrics-whiteboard-friday
Also for the life of me, i've been trying to find sites with videos with scheme.org markup, and can't find any!
Its driving me nuts, i just want to see a real life example!

If Phil does not have what you're looking for I don't think anyone does.
All the best,

You can use VideoObject schema http://schema.org/VideoObject to get rich snippets.
However - a more surefire and common place way to get those video snippets is through a video sitemap, which is how SEOmoz get their search results in the rankings.
Video sitemaps essentially provide the same kinda information as schema, but through the XML sitemap framework, rather than as mark-up in the HTML.
For more details on that, have a look here: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=80472
and then to work out how to make your own sitemap, have a look here: http://www.distilled.net/blog/video/creating-video-sitemaps-for-each-video-hosting-platform/
I hope that answers the question for you!

Thanks for the responses, i understand that the videos are hosted on Wista, but i don't understand why they are markedup with schema, when Google recommends schema.org for on-page markup for videos.

whiteboard Fridays definitely a lot of scheme and site's and all that's sugar and spice under know-how goes. But trust me they're using the best video technology for search engine optimization sews distilled, so is Hubspot, so's firehost, I could go on there were all using wistia the best out there.

Here is the Bible of video SEO Phil knows his stuff
I pass it on to you
http://www.distilled.net/blog/distilled/the-distilled-guide-to-online-video-marketing/
Okay there are 3 ways of going about this the way I like to look at it.
Every whiteboard Friday you see RAND or somebody of great talent given us great advice well they all use http://wistia.com/
the reason it's outstanding for SEE probably the best video player for search engine optimization ever. You don't have to have a separate site map plug-in you simply enter a little blue robots.txt, and it builds its own. 3 videos are free after that you pay
the next is to use http://yoast.com/wordpress/video-seo/ a outstanding programmer that knows a lot about search engine optimization you can use this plug-in with any of the paid for a.k.a. business videos or you can use it with YouTube/Vimeo however you really don't want to do that because if you have the same video on YouTube/Vimeo it will outrank you and that's just because of their domain authority. So you can use it but make sure the content is separate not on YouTube but that's kind of impossible right.
look up hosted video and you will find a bunch of companies which I can't list right now.
The 3rd way is to use a similar set up as number 2 where you are either using a YouTube, Vimeo, vzaar, I miss some more Anything else that is a video. area Bright Cove, and Viddler there are more this is free and it's a plug-in
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-video-seo/
I cannot vouch for its quality however it is a free plug-in.
If you want my opinion,
number 1 is your best option. Followed by number 2 then of course leaving number 3.
I hope I have helped,
Tom

Probably because it's relatively new. Just an idea, why don't you markup one of your own videos and run it through Google's Rich Snippet Testing Tool? Then you'll have a live example

Is it a good idea to optimize for keywords that have no search volume if they're ranked?
Hello Moz Community, I have some questions I hope some of you can help with. We’re doing SEO work for a client that provides outsourced IT and managed IT services in Phoenix, AZ and cities in the Phoenix metro area (i.e. Glendale, Tempe, Scottsdale, etc.) They’re currently ranked for or targeting the following keywords: • consulting phoenix az (1)
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | marnipatterson
• outsourced it phoenix (2)
• phoenix it support (3)
• it services Scottsdale (5)
• it consulting firm phoenix (targeting)
• it solutions phoenix (targeting) We have recommended the following keywords based on monthly search totals, competitive level and difficulty ratings in Moz. • IT consulting phoenix
• it consultant company
• outsourced it
• it support services
• it consulting services
• outsourcing it
• outsourced tech support Questions
1. While I know it’s a good idea to optimize for keywords that you're currently ranked for, there’s no search volume for any of these. So, I recommended non-geo versions since Google provides search results based on the user’s location. Will this preserve the company's current rankings?
2. If not optimizing for their current keywords will hurt their rankings, will using the current keywords as secondary keywords suffice? If so, do we need to include them in the content for keyword density?
3. Since search engine algorithms now focus so heavily on user intent, I assume we’re covered for all variations of a keyword (i.e. outsource it, outsourced it, outsourcing it, etc.) Is this correct?
4. They want to rank for “cloud services” and “cloud solutions.” Both are very competitive with high difficulty rankings. So, I recommended “cloud migration” and “cloud strategy” as alternatives since these are the main services they provide. Will including “cloud services” and “cloud solutions” as secondary keywords help them increase their rankings for both? If you’ve dealt with a similar situation, I'd appreciate your insight and advice. Thanks!0 -

Hello. I recently opened my website last month and after that did some seo and a press release. SEO guy was good and didnt over optimize any particular keyword. but now I am seeing a partular phrase is hovering around 10%. That is rather a money keyword and I am worried am I gonna get a penalty for that. That keyword came from the press release where I am seeing 7 rather very reputable website posted that press release. Now what are the chances of getting a penalty for this?

Page structure and how to optimize old content
SITE STRUCTURE I am trying to optimize the structure of our site Dreamestatehuahin.com. Getting a visible sitemap of my page make me realized it was not a pyramid as I expected it to be but instead very flat. I Would be happy for some advise on how to structure my site in future aswell how to optimize certain place on the page that i think need a change. 1: structure on posts. Maybe I misunderstand how post works in wordpress or something happen with my theme. When I look at my page sitemap my page is VERY flat because permalinks setting I chose the setting as post name (recommended in most articles). http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/sample-post What I actually believed was that post name was place after /blog/ like: http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/blog/sample-post I would be a good idea to do like this right? Should I add some SEO text on the top of my blog page before the actually posts. Or would this be a bad idea due to pagination causing double content? Could one do 4 blogs in one site and replace the name “blog” in the url with a keywords http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/real-estate-announcement/sample-post http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/hua-hin-attractions/sample-post 2) Pages Based on property type From our top menu, i have made links under for sael using wordpress property types http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/property-type/villa/ http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/property-type/hot-deals/ http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/property-type/condominium/ Earlier I found that these pages created duplictaon of titles due to pagenation so I deleted the h1 What would you do with these pages. Should I optimize them with a text and h1. maybe it is possible to add some title and text content for the top of the first page only (the one page that are linked to our top menu) http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/property-type/villa and not to page 2, 3, 4….. http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/property-type/villa/page/2/ b) Also maybe I should rename the property types WOuld it make sence to change name of the property types from etc villa to villas for sale or even better villas for sale hua hin Then the above urls will look like this instead: http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/property-type/villas-for-sale/ Or Maybe renaming a property type would result in many 404 errors and not be worth the effort? 3) LINKING + REPOSTING OUR “PROPERTY” PAGES AND DO A 301 REDIRECT? a) Would It be good idea to link back from all properties description to one of our 5 optimized landingpages (for the keyword home/house/condo/villa) for sale in Hua Hin? http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/property-hua-hin/ http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/house-for-sale-hua-hin/ b) Also so far we haven’t been really good about optimizing each property (no keywords, optimized titles or descriptions) etc. http://www.dreamestatehuahin.com/property/baan-suksamran/ I wonder if it would be worth the effort to optimize content of each of the old properties )photos-text) on our page? Or maybe post the old properties again in a new optimized version and do a 301 redirect from the old post?

We'd like to get this page ranking, but we haven't had much luck so far. Our Youtube account does better, but I'm looking for some things we can do on or offsite to get this page to rank. Any tips would be appreciated!

SEO views on having other videos on our YouTube Channel
Our company is an eCommerce site for aftermarket automotive accessories. We recently started making videos for our customers and hosting them on YouTube channel. With our limited resources, we're unable to produce a video for all our products (videos on benefits and features, installation, new product introductory, reviews, etc.), How does it look if we have other peoples videos on our channel? Will our SEO be affected? Would we be flagged by YouTube?

Optimize the category page or a content page?
Hi, We wish to start ranking on a specific keyword ("log house prices" in italian). We have two options on what pages we should optimize for this keyword: A long content page (1000+ words with images) Log houses category page, optimized for the keyword (we have 50+ houses on this page, together with a short price summary). I would think that we have better chances with ranking with option nr.2 , but then we can't use that page for ranking with a more short-tail keyword (like "log houses"). What would you suggest? Is there maybe a third option for this?

If you host a video on another site will you get credit for it?
If we host the video on a third party player & use their player (such as Brightcove), will we get credit for the video (will it show in SERPs on our domain? Or, do we need to host it on our own site?
