Local search

hi,
Local search case
i try to evaluate local competition on a local query such as "hairdresser + the city name" in Google for a merchant without website neither a google adresse listing.
-
Top results : 7 google adresses pack : ok
-
Organic results : SERP display only directories ! The first 10 pages are reviews platforms & local directories (qype, yelp, yellowpages etc..) except only 1 or 2 urls with personalized domains name.
1/ Would it be easy with to make a website + with a brand new domain name (myhaidresseShop.com) to dominate these serp (organics) quickly (first 2 months) ?
2/ Would it be better to first launch a targeted submission campaign (popularity) on those local directories with personalized data (first month) , and later on, to build a website ?
3/ Or ideally, from start, to make both a local campaign (Google adresse + submission) and launch a new website ?
Tks in advance...

hi,
What about launching a Google Adwords Express Campaign to make stronger the Seo work ?
Tks in advance..

Tks for your link, but what do you mean by "select local business" ?
I can't see any "local business field" to select somewhere in the form, may be i haven't got the whole picture of it ...
-
I personally also like using schema to designate a local business:
Click Organization and select local business in the drop down.

I appreciate your reply..and your link also.
Tks a lot..

Hi Mic,
I would focus on Google Places optimization based on the time scale you have it is far more likely you will rank higher for you niche.
I have just posted an article relating to Google Places local search optimization on my blog at http://www.lionseo.com/blog/googl...
The post also contains a list of local business directories I recommend submitting your business to for local search optimization.

I'm with Stephen.
If you go this route, it's not a bad idea to make sure the address on your website matches perfectly the address google has and the address you put on directories. From a workflow perspective, sometimes it's easier to submit the google listing, see how they list your address, and just go with that (as long as it's right)

Many tks for your suggestions ..

Tks for your prompt reply..

Hi,
I'd go for option 3.
A - Make sure you have a fully updates Google Places Page
B - Build your site NOW and start adding content
C - Start a Hairdresser blog and post a small hairdresser advice blog every day. Maybe Style of the day with picture
D - Start a lik build campaign
E - Get listed on all the local and free directories
As for dominating the serp in the first 2 months I'm not sure abiut that but it's worth a go.
Lots of content pages linking etc. Gradual build up of content over the 2 months. It's a whole load of work.
Good luck

I will take a shot at the first question. If the current results are just directories, with a website domain with target keywords and some SEO work you should be able to rank top ten in short order. Google does a decent job of filtering out directories and real sites.

Domain and urls aren't showing up in Google search
Hi, Moz community, I hope you are staying safe, I have been trying to search our website in Google by using the whole domain name, but it's not showing up. For example: https://www.example.com/

https://www.example.com/inner-page.html
Or if search brand name: Example, doesn't come up But when I try example.com, it comes up along with other pages. Neither the inner pages are being come up in the search nor the home page with https://www.example.com. I have checked with Site:example.com, it is showing all the pages, but it is weird on the other hand that it is not visible in the search, what could be the reason? Any tool to check it? I thought it was because of the latest core update from Google. But, there are many keywords in the rankings, so I am sure the website hasn't been impacted. I checked penalties or issues through many tools and even in the search console, everything is fine. Any help would be appreciated.1 -
How to beat directories in local search.
After just a couple months I'm placing on the first page for some keywords but I need advice on how to get over the hump. Search results for "Lakeville Snow Plowing" and "Lakeville Snow Removal" return directory results for the 1rst 3 listings above the local results.. I'm right below that at 5 and 7.. (I'm not showing up in local results even though I have a radius but that's another issue) Any tips or advice to compete against these type of results rather than a direct competitor? How does a small company with limited to no budget go about outranking BBB and Manta.com? I'm considering purchasing the BBB membership, and I imagine a link from them would be helpful, other than that, I could use some advice. Derrick

Google serps for split keyword searches
A client has come to me with an issue with the marketing of their website. it is mainly focused around the search of their name. the site is an Magento GO hosted e-commerce based site through Magento. it requires a good amount of optimisation and its in a very competitive market - which has high volume of searches. When entering the name of the business it doesn't show on the first page of Google but it does on Bing or Yahoo. The site name is lovehugz and is UK based The issue is when searched for by name lovehugz it appears on the second page, however if the search term is separated love hugz it appears first on the first page. The site is poorly optmised at present with the page title limited to the name lovehugz. Does anybody know of reasons why Google might be behaving in this manner and what steps should be taken to overcome. Optimising for the name is not the only aim here, however it something that should be in place for people searching by name, There is a lot of work to be done to optimise the site for its essential relevant keywords to stand a chance in its market. Any ideas of help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Local Monthly Searches for a particular city
I'm not exactly new to SEO but totally new to local SEO. How do I check monthly searches for a specific city so that I know if it makes sense to develop a site for that a particular area.

What's the best way to discover my business and search competitors?
I am trying to figure out who the real competitors are for the domain that I have been recently handed. Other than the client's references, which I don't think are the real competition (they are his benchmarks), how do I go about discovering the true competition? What the simplest, most effective way to go about discovering my business and search competitors? Given that this is a web portal, aren't both of the latter the same?

Keyword Search - another site bypassed me and they are not ranked well...
I was trying to optimize the keywords "music for kids" . This is a no brainer because my URL is "musicforkids" My On-Page Report Card for "music for kids" gives my site a "A". The on page report card for the other site gets an "F". But the other site comes up number ONE in the organic Google search and my site comes up number three. The two sites above me receive a crappy on page Keyword report for the key words "music for kids" but they still come up above me for that search term. What's the deal?

Search shows site links, but not hyperlinked?
2 of our competitors on Google have site links show in their results which brings you to that specific page. In our listing we show up with the same results a few spots behind them with our site links visible showing very similar content, but are not actually hyper linked. Is there a way to fix the issue and let people actually be able to click on our site links instead of just reading them?
