How to Handle SEO for Daily and Weekly Market Updates
-
I have a market news and education site focused on the bond market. Each day we have an end of day market wrapup piece. We also have several weekly pieces as well as pieces that come out once a month.
My question is how should I handle these from an SEO standpoint? When someone searches for "bond market update" for example I want my latest piece to show up in the results.
Similarly when someone searches for "savings bond interest rate forecast" I would also like the report for that month to be the one that they find.
Here are two examples of what I am talking about:
http://www.learnbonds.com/us-savings-bond-forecast-3272012/
and

Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

Thanks for the response mike I think those are some good general SEO tips.
Specifically what I am looking for however is advice on how to handle content which is similar in nature but updated on a regular basis like the example pieces I sited.
Any additional advice on that subject would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

David- No magic pixie dust solution...but there are a couple of things you need to start doing regularly:
#1: Make sure you are posting the new updates every week on the site. If it is truly original and unique content, either add them as a separate page or add them as a blog entry on your main url.
#2: Make sure they are keyword rich for your primary terms. Main keyword (your example "bond market update") should be in the title, the first sentence and the last sentence of the article. Make sure you mention other second tier level keywords in the main content t least 2-3 times (for example "bond" "Market update" "bond market". Make sure in each article you use underline, bold and italics at least once to highlight certain keywords, terms or phrases.
#3: Make sure your landing page has the article or a link to the correct article. If you are building seo value for only your home page, then make sure it is there.
#4: Make sure that you are leveraging as many online and offline PR outlets as possible with each release of information. You should be releasing the updates on your Facebook page; your twitter page; your linked in page; your rss feed; as well as any online news sources that are relevant to investment, market updates, etc......make sure they all have a link back to your main site or a landing page with anchor text.
All of the above are in addition to making sure you keep doing on page and off page optimization with a focus on your related main keywords. You can't eat an elephant in one bite....but if you continue to do the above on a regular basis, you will make big progress in getting your news articles ranked on the search engines.
Hope this helps. Please make sure if this is helpful that you give me the thumbs up!!!!! Thanks

Updating Content - Make changes to current URL or create a new one?
I'm working with a content team on a job search guide for 2019. We already have a job search guide for 2018. Should we just edit the content of the job search guide for 2018 to make it current for 2019, which means the job search guide for 2018 would not exist anymore or should we keep the 2018 guide and just create a new web page for the 2019 guide that way both exist. We currently rank very well for the 2018 job search guide.

Blog or article length and SEO value
Why do different blog lengths affect SEO differently? Is it directly affected by Rankbrain or the Google Algorithm, or is it more because of user engagement?

Updating a Business Blog Article - Old or New Published Date
There are a few business blogs that I'm currently updating - include more details, information, case studies, statistics etc. The blog was originally published in September of 2016. Once I make the changes, do I keep the same original date or do I change the date to the day that i've uploaded the new information? Example:

SEO advice needed regarding Bookmark Sites
Hi all We have recently employed a SEO company. They have written some blogs and promoted the blogs on up to 20 bookmark sites. On each bookmark site the text is the same. Will Google class this as duplicate content? Is this a good idea? Any advise would be appreciated, thanks.

Disqus and SEO
It seems Disqus commenting system has grown and evolved so to make it easier to comment I've installed it on my 14 sites. I find moderation becomes much easier. Is Disqus SEO friendly and a part of an SEO process? (I checked the topic and only found one's dated back to 2011). Thanks, Don

Does having blog on subdomain weaken primary site's SEO?
I have a Joomla site with a WordPress subdomain that I'm wanting to use as a learning center. It's far more simple for new blog editors and publishers to learn that over Joomla. The issue I'm facing is trying to figure out rather having the blog put into the primary domain instead of a subdomain will hurt my ratings at all? Where I got the idea that it may hurt ratings is due to how (from what I understand) search engines will see a subdomain slightly different than the primary domain. Thank you for any help!

What plugins & tactics are you using for Wordpress meta SEO?
Currently I use All-In-One SEO and I quite like how simple it is to setup and it's stable. Is that still one of the best ones? What are you using these days? Is it worth stripping out the superfluous meta tags that Wordpress now puts in? Is there any value to adding meta descriptions to all my Tag pages and if so, is there a good plugin that will auto magically create unique descriptions for these pages? Same goes for my paginated archives. Thanks!
