Structured Data and Location
-
I have heard it argued recently that the use of structured data such as schema.org to identify your business location on a website should help SERP in local search. Why is this important if the location is clear on the website and why should it make a difference if the site is already showing well in local search?

it may not make a difference if it is already clear, but schema makes sure it is clear, how does a search engine link a business name to a address, it is hard to get that right, but with schema it makes it definate

What happens if I structurally uploaded two different images under the same name? Will Google penalise me for it?
Hi, we are a self storage company (www.boxie24.com) and for every url (500 url's) we use 1 head image containing the keyword of the url, so for instance: https://www.boxie24.com/en-us/self-storage-west-village the main image on top is self-storage-west-village-sm.jpg. It was uploaded months ago. Now we are adding more images between the content. But we call them: self-storage-west-village-sm.jpg as well and self-storage-west-village-boxie24-storage-sm. But for almost every url we have "duplicate image name". Is that bad and should we fix it or is it ok? It are different images though. I noticed it today, the images have the same name

What are the best practices for optimizing a site for multiple locations?
I have a client that operates in multiple states. I am trying to find a way to best optimize their website, but all of the best practices for "local SEO" seem to be for things such as restaurants, small businesses, etc. I am looking for a way to optimize for the industry keywords as well as location. Any best practices/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

NAP No mail delivered to physical location
Hello, First question here on moz. I live in a small town, and some of my clients do as well. Some mail is delivered to physical locations, however most mail is delivered to PO Boxes. I have tried with some success to get the mail workers to flag Google and others post cards. Otherwise I am not able to verify ownership. Any ideas or help on how to verify businesses that don't get mail at their location would be great. Dave

Using 1 main site for many branch office locations
I have 1 main site with many many city/state pages within the site. I would like to use this site as the 'website' on the google local places pages for all my branch office locations, however I am worried that if my domain authority isn't high enough for the site, google will think I am spamming 'google places'. Are there any best practices I can follow to do this? Ideally I would like my blended search to show www.site.com/boston not as www.site.com
