Why does our page show a description in english in google spain?
-
Hi!
We have a multilingual page and I have set in Google Webmaster Tools the language preference for the root domain to be none, Spanish for the .com/es, English for the .com/en, and German for the .com/de.
The title and description show in the right language in Google Germany and google UK, but in google.es (Spain) the title and description appear in English instead of Spanish.
Does anybody know why could this be happening and how to fix it?

You are correct, those sites do show but only when you are searching for those domains. I'm not seeing a sitemap.xml file, but that would be strongly recommended. Google does support sitemap indexes, which would be perfect for you in this situation! You'll need to submit a separate sitemap for each language, and there you can identify the root/home page for each one.

You need to communicate to Google where your /es and /de are residing. Having sitemaps in place for each of those roots would be best. Further, if you are defaulting to English, you should probably have your root domain point to the English site (/en) since the root and the /en are essentially the same page.
And yes, the root domain does have a language code in the head.

Hi,
Thanks for your response!
Inmonova.com/de has
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="de"/> Inmonova.com/es has
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="de"/>
And those two pages are listed on those engines. FOr instance you can have a look ate the screenshot. But the .com with no language code shows better in the serps. How can we get the description to show in the apropiate language depending where the visitor is searching?

Are you sure about Google Germany? I just grabbed this screenshot.
Your root domain is showing on the listings for Germany and Spain yet you have this tag in the head:
| http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en"/> |
You will need to get your /es and /de root pages listed on those engines for the language descriptions you are expecting.

I'm currently trying to find a way to stop googlebot from indexing specific areas of a page, long ago Yahoo search created this tag class=”robots-nocontent” and I'm trying to see if there is a similar manner for google or if they have adopted the same tag? Any help would be much appreciated.

Should i put a full article on my home page to get google to visit more
Hi, our site is www.in2town.co.uk and i am thinking of putting an article on my home page in the middle under where it says lifestyle news, and getting rid of the middle column and instead have the latest news there to try and get google to visit more. I would like to know if you think this would look messy and not user friendly and if you think if i did do it would it get google to visit the site more often. all day we are always adding articles but on the home page it only shows a few lines of the article so i am concerned that these few lines are not getting google interested in visiting our site more often. we were on page one with our site but now since the upgrade we are on page eight so we are trying to combat this The article would change each time we put a new article on the site. so the article could be on there for ten mins before a new one is there any thoughts on this would be great

Without a website! Only a super simple hostingprovider webpage. Now, with the new website, all the website pages are found in google from page 7... home page is not even in the results. When i search on "instral.com" in google, it will show my website on first result including homepage. Is there something wrong with the website or DNS settings? Hi all, My website is www.ipbskinning.com I'm having a problem with how my site is appearing in google. I have this in the head of my website: <meta name='<a class="attribute-value">description</a>' content='<a class="attribute-value">Free and Custom IPB Skins for Invision Power Board.</a>'/> Yet when I google 'ipbskinning' it says: Solid Skins. 1We test all our skins in all browsers to insure that they are compatible. This ensures that your users have the best user experience. which is random text from the content of my site. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks a lot all
