Do Structured Data Errors Hurt Your Rankings

-
Thank you so much! You're amazing!
-
Ok, this should fix your problem. Just add the "updated" that is bolded below. That portion of the code will look like this:
%3$s
/**
- Prints HTML with meta information for the current post-date/time and author.
- @since Twenty Ten 1.0
*/
function twentyten_posted_on() {
printf( ( 'Posted on %2$s by %3$s', 'twentyten' ),
'meta-prep meta-prep-author',
sprintf( '%3$s',
get_permalink(),
esc_attr( get_the_time() ),
get_the_date()
),
sprintf( '%3$s',
get_author_posts_url( get_the_author_meta( 'ID' ) ),
sprintf( esc_attr( 'View all posts by %s', 'twentyten' ), get_the_author() ),
get_the_author()
)
);
}
endif;

I found the functions.php file, but not the content.php. I didn't see the code mentioned in the functions.php file, but could it be under another name in here?
Thanks,
Ruben

It's probably in content.php or functions.php which are located in the theme folder of your wordpress installation and are probably only accessible via ftp.

It is a wordpress site, and I get the fix. However, how do I replace it? I included a screenshot of all the different choices under editor, but I'm having trouble finding it. I thought it would be under post.php, but it's not there. Any ideas?
Thanks so much for the help!

Yeah, I actually just noticed that I had this issue as well. You just need to add "updated" as a class so the html for the date on your http://www.kempruge.com/suv-driving-tips/ blog should end up as:
June 19, 2014
-
I assume your site is running Wordpress Ruben? This is quite common - you should be able to find your fix here. Snippets do cause a lot of problems, especially when plugins are in use. See how you get on with that.
This error occur when Google Snippet cannot find date it was published or last updated.To solve this find,**
<span < code="">
class=
"post_date">`'j F,Y'
); ?></span <>`**
and replace it with<span < code="">
class=
"post_date date updated">`'j F,Y'
); ?>``</span <>```-Andy

Page not being ranked properly
Hi, Wondering if someone could possibly shed some light on why some of our pages are not being ranked properly on Google. For example this page https://www.mypetzilla.co.uk/dog-breeds Keyword "Dog Breeds" we can't be found on and we are absolutely baffled why? Could it be that we are listing all 100 and something dog breeds on one page? Should we introduce pagination or load more as user scrolls down. This page has been up for at least 4 years. Any suggestion or advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks

How long before your rankings improved after Penguin?
Those of you that have algorithmic penalties, how long after making changes did you actually see an improvement, or have you ever? I have several sites that tanked after Penguin 2.1 and after doing Link Removal, Diasvaow files and building newer more quality links and adding content, I am STILL not seeing any change in rankings after several months. I have heard from some people it can take up to 6-months for google to even crawl a disavow file. I have also heard no matter what you do it won't matter until Google does another update. I feel like we have made a lot of changes in the right direction, but I don't want to go overboard if nothing is going to matter until another Google Update is done. What are your experiences?

Long tail rankings
Hi everybody. We've been working with http://www.lawnmowersdirect.co.uk/ for some time now. Rankings for broad terms such as 'lawn mowers' and 'lawnmowers' are superb, and we're pretty happy. Bizarrely though, rankings for products are very poor. For example this page - http://www.lawnmowersdirect.co.uk/product/honda-hrg465sd - is currently 17th for 'Honda HRG465SD IZY'. We've done lots of work onsite, clearing up duplicate content, improving copy and tidying up URLs. However, none of this seems to have had a major impact on the product pages. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Bing Ranking Factors
I'm curious about the relationship (or lack of ) between Google rankings and Bing rankings. We took a huge hit last winter with Google and have since gotten back up to the top 3 and have been holding steady on all our most important terms. Most of our losses since regaining Google, have been with Bing. This week, we dropped 44 points on Bing and Yahoo! for our most important term. Are there known factors for Bing ranking? If so, can anyone please enlighten me? And does anyone think Bing rankings even matter these days?

How best to structure wordpress site.
I need help on how to structure my wordpress site to avoid duplicate content issues. Basically I have a main category page for each of my targeted keywords (about 12). From each of those though I want to create a category for each county in the uk and then about 15 towns within each county. This means I'm creating a LOT of categories. Eg: /plumbers/lincolnshire/lincoln x 15 other counties and towns /local-plumbers/cambridgeshire/cambridge x 15 other counties and towns (I have about 12 main keywords I'm going after) I'm basically creating a category for every town in the UK going after long tail keywords. What is the best way to manage this in wordpress? Advice from another question I posted on here is to write a unique category description for each one as the posts in each category are almost identical. The other problem here is I'm ending up with hundreds of links on a page. (They can't all be seen by the user as I'm using a drop down menu plugin). Any advice appreciated.

On blog structure and topic [Advanced]
What if you run a university website with 20 faculties, how would you approach building a blog for them? Would you do it like most universities do - put all blogs in a subdomain and each individual faculty in a subfolder. Like this: https://blogs.monash.edu/ Would you put the blog in a subfolder and create categories for each faculty - like Mashable does for tech, entertainment, etc. Or, create separate subfolders for each faculties? If you have other ideas, please share. For argument's sake, the goal of the blog(s) is to generate leads. It's part of a larger content marketing effort and they want to maximize the blog's SEO benefit. And by the way, please state what you think are the advantages/disadvantages of your chosen option. Thanks!

Bing and Yahoo rankings
I must admit its every 3 months or so I check these listings 🙂 I would even admit we are that engrossed in google we forget these sites exist many times. I wanted to see if anyone had experience doing sep for these sites and what sort of techniques you used in order to help improve these rankings. I tend to get great listings on Yahoo for many sites but bing seems slightly different. Would love to find out some information on the algos on each of these.

Could adding canonical tags to large Ecommerce site ever hurt rankings? Temporarily?
We have a really large site we're working on who's product pages rank well for the most part but also have multiple products listed in different categories with different URL's. I'm assuming there's no downside to adding canonical tags to these right? Its peak season so I don't want to do anything that could, even temporarily, bring down their rankings. Thanks!
