Serps display

Good Morning Everyone,
So by now i'm sure you've all heard about the search engines like Google and Bing displaying Emoji's in the Page titles of the SERPS.
Does anyone know how to input the emojis into your page title? I have a magento site and have no idea where to find the emoji's and how to place them in the title.
Any help/guidance/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Looks like it will actually be a "waste of time", per Google's John Mueller.
"Google's John Mueller in a Google+ hangout was asked this at 51:40 mark and answered they will be going away. He said "it is kind of a waste of time" since "soon they will not be shown at all." - https://www.seroundtable.com/google-emoji-waste-of-time-20258.html
Hope this helps.

Does anyone know where to go inside the site (through FTP) in order to access the page titles for each individual category?
Thanks!

so is there no way to do this from inside the magento admin panel?

Hi there
You just need to add the unicode of the Emoji into your HTML. You can find the unicodes for each emoji in the list here: http://apps.timwhitlock.info/emoji/tables/unicode, plus how they'll look on each device.
If you're running WordPress there's a couple of plugins that can do this for you as well, such as Hello Emoji and Open Source Emoji.
Just don't go overboard with them. Part of me fears Google will suck the fun right out of this and block Emoji's from appearing in the SERPs if lots of people jump on the bandwagon. Hope not, but possible. Also consider that not every visitor on every device might be able to see the emoji properly, which could put people off.
With all that said, I love emojis. 'U+1F60D'

Why is Google appending a different website's brand name to the end of SERP title?
I've recently been shown some SERP results where Google is appending a different website's brand name to the end of the SERP title. It's actually rewriting the brand's name to that of the other website. (This is obviously not ideal.) Why would this be? The other website doesn't even stock the same product, so there shouldn't be any confusion there. But even if it did, many websites stock the same products. Just confusing...

Do review sites like consumer affairs negatively affect SERPs?
Hey all, So when googling the name of our site we see consumer affairs pop up around 5th with a 1 star rating. These negative reviews are mostly spammy (competitors, etc.) since we have an awesome support team that deals with all unhappy members very effectively. We reached out to CA and they came back asking for $10k+ (highway robbery) to "help us improve our rating." My question is: do poor ratings on review sites like these negatively affect your SERPs? And if so, how can we work to combat their effect? Thanks in advance, Roman

In Google SERPs some companies / government agencies have a Google-generated card for their organization and it references their Wikipedia page. It does not show for all companies /orgs that have a Wikipedia page. What is the criteria to have it shown?
Does Google have specific criteria to show a large card in the top right of SERPs that links to a national organization's Wikipedia-referenced info? These do not appear to be the Google Business Card created by individual organizations. Example having the card and org is on wikipedia: https://www.google.com/?ion=1&espv=2#q=u.s. department of labor Example no card shown and org is on wikipedia: https://www.google.com/?ion=1&espv=2#q=Occupational+Information+network

Wrong company attribution on SERPs
Hello everyone, I have a client that is a GmbH (private company), however, when a user does a branded search, in the title tag of the first result appears a AG (publicly traded company) instead of a GmbH. What is curious in this situation is that there is a maps entry and in this case it shows the GmbH but only after the user clicks through. Question: Where is Google taking the AG from? (FYI AG isn't mentioned on the website, No odp tag, external links are also not influencing) Thank you for your answer Best Regards and a wonderful weekend Daniel Vareta

Brand Name searches: Low Click Through Rates in Google - What are your CTR in the SERPS for your Brandname?
Hello, Checking the Analytics part - Search Engine Optimization/ Queries - I found suprising results for my website: The website is no. 1 for my brand name but only has a 28% CTR on the brandname in the Google SERPS! Please see exactly what I mean here: http://screencast.com/t/GKjwliZ6GTF7 I'm looking for your experience of CTR of other websites in the same situation. Do you have similar low CTR? Some background info; The website is no1 for the brandname. Sitelinks are shown. Google Maps is shown on right. In the period are no adwords advertisments on my brand name as I know. I checked several times. I cant understand where 72% go after searching for my brandname. Thanks for sharing your experience. Best Regards Daria

How to control Artist Info sidebar on Google SERP?
Google has added an information sidebar to its SERPs for public figures, including artists of all stripes. Search for "Coldplay" and you'll see what I mean. I'm wondering where Google pulls this information from, and how to keep it complete and up to date. The sidebar includes basic information, including Birthday, Education, Awards and Works (albums / books etc.). In representing an artist, this is now the first encapsulated information presented to user searching for my artist, and I want to make sure it's accurate. Any insight on how to edit this info would be truly appreciated.

Has anyone had success with product page rel=author? Can I protect the content but dump the face on the SERPS?
Hi, Is there a way to get the benefits of rel=author for protecting site content but to disconnect that from the face photo on the SERPS? We added rel=author to our unique and individually written product descriptions and reviews. This has led to a decrease in click thru thus far. I suspect this is because when searching for a product to buy the user sees the face and thinks "review" or at least "not corporate". I don't nec. want to dump rel=author in the sea yet for our ecom pages, has anyone had success with product page rel=author? Four our keywords, we are the only company of 10 well known travel sites that have the face in the SERPS, far from improving our CTR, it has trashed it. Any ideas?
